David Tiva Kapu is a Solomon Islands Anglican priest and governor-general elect of Solomon Islands.[1][2][3]

Education

Kapu received his Master of Theology degree from the Pacific Theological College. His thesis titled, "What has the Church to do with the State?" analyzed the role of church and state relationship in Nggela Islands, Solomon Islands from 1932 to 2007.[4]

Career

Reverend Kapu serves as the academic dean of studies Bishop Patteson Theological College at Kohimarama, in Solomon Islands.[2]

In June 2024, he became the only candidate to be the next Governor-General of Solomon Islands, the King's viceregal representative in the country. Kapu was elected as the governor-general elect on 17 June 2024.[1][5] Kapu will succeed Sir David Vunagi at the expiry of his term on 7 July 2024 (Independence Day), provided King Charles III gives his royal assent to approve Kapu's nomination.[2]
