Daniel Popper is a South African artist known for his large scale sculptures and interactive public art installations.[1][2][3][4]

Biography

Popper was born in Johannesburg, South Africa.[5] When he was 19 years old, his family moved to Cape Town.[6][7] Popper graduated from Michaelis School of Fine Art after earning his BFA with honors in 2006.[8] He attended the University of Cape Town.[9][10] He received a degree in painting in 2006.[7] His first notable commissioned work was at FIFA World Cup in South Africa in 2010.[11][12] In 2023, Popper installed Umi permanently at Hogan Park in the Aurora Highlands in Colorado. Umi is a large scale interactive statue that represents mother earth.[13][14] Popper is the founder of Pop Production, a creative studio that specialises in stage design, immersive entertainment installations and brand collaboration.[15]
