Taxonomy
editBased on morphological analyses, Cheilotheca has been placed in the Ericaceae subfamily Monotropoideae.[3] The exact placement of Cheilotheca within the Monotropoideae is still unknown, but morphologically the genus most closely resembles Monotropa and Monotropastrum.
