More subcats?

Why so many categories? Category:Telephone numbers and Category:Telephone numbering plans were already not particularly large and included similar articles, and now Category:Telephone numbering covers similar articles though not the same ones. Is this multiplicity of categories expected to help readers find related articles? Jim.henderson 16:09, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I will remove all the articles that I put in Category:Telephone numbering and in Category:Telephone numbering by country. I will create Category:Telephone numbers by country a clear subcategory of Category:Telephone numbers. NoGringo 17:24, 18 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

emptied categories I created:

emptied an existing category

created new

I moved country, or plan specific articles to the more specific categories. I hope I was not to bold. Please tell if you have concerns with the new arrangement.

Whew. Excellent work. For months I've been thinking of neatening this mess, starting with abolishing the distinction between ph number cats and plan cats, and a couple days ago I saw, oh, no, it's getting even worse! So, I squawked, and you took notice and got to work and pushed things around and made the whole thing easier to understand than ever. Excellent work. There's some kind of customary procedure, a "barnstar" tag for giving someone a small symbolic reward on their personal page. I don't know how to do it yet, but consider yourself Barnstarred for a good deed. Jim.henderson 02:11, 19 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
We've now got to delete those empty categories as I was tempted to stick things back into them! I have attached speedy delete tags to the three emptied categories now. Graeme Bartlett 05:15, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
