I don't think teleology is a philosophical theory. It is a field within which there are many theories. Gregbard 08:58, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

A couple of things Gregbard.
First, the edits you are making are not minor, but you are marking them all as minor.
Second, teleology is a philosophical theory. It can be a theory about the nature of causation (in philosophy of mind, philosophy of scoence and metaphysics), and a theory about about what forms of scientific explanation are appropriate. Hence, the 'contrast with philosophical naturalism', among other things, in the article on teleology. I can give you better references if you wish. (Sorry if I sound snarky - I had a rotten day today.)Anarchia 09:21, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have it set on minor because most of my edits are minor. I guess they add up though. I am slowly trying to be more attentive to edit summaries, etc. We all have those days. Here's wishing you a wonderful night. I'm still not convinced, (I think it's another -ology like any other) but I find you quite credible. Gregbard 09:27, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Telelogy cat and Metphysics tag edit

There are two issues here. First, bizarrely, but I think accurately, the pages in cat:tel are appropriate for a metaphysics tag, because they are mostly about teleology or cosmology, and for some batty reason, cosmolgy still generally gets grouped with metaphysics rather than or as well as Hist and phil of science. Secondly, I don't think some of these cosmology articles have anything to do with teleology. Would you mind if I shifted them? I would need to read them all carefully first, so it would not happen quickly! Anarchia 00:45, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Don't be bashful. Membership in these categories has not been formalized (like with a statement), so everything is in some degree of flux. In many cases the right ones are still going to end up under the phil banner as appropriate. Even if there are a bunch that don't we can find them eventually. Once it's below the main phil category, it can be in more than one, it doesn't matter. Gregbard 04:18, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
