The lists of inhabited named places in Somalia (however that is defined for this article) need cleaning up, possibly merging, expanding and generally making uniform. One subsection "Cities in Somalia" lists 40 which leads one to wonder how "city" is defined. One place listed is called the fourth city in its region after A B and C, but only two of those are in the list. There are but 20 "Towns in Somalia" while "Villages in Somalia" has a solitary member (and that seems to have given rise to the thought that its entry is less encyclopedic than political.) In Wikipedia US inhabited places seem dealt with uniformly; they also have percentages of the inhabitants' ethnicities even unto the first place of decimals so maybe what seems to be a major feature of the Somali place articles, the listing of inhabitants by clan is not without precedent, good or otherwise. --SilasW 15:32, 24 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I did not create/populate these categories, but I suspect the cities category is based on the cities list article found therein and the towns and villages categories are based on words in the text of the articles. Until someone comes along who knows the legal/administrative system of the country involved and changes all the articles and categories to match such facts, then this is how things go.
