Category:Orders, decorations and medals of South Africa

edit

Hi Rathfelder,
I notice that you have just gone to a lot of trouble to rename Category:Orders, decorations and medals of South Africa to Category:Orders, decorations, and medals of South Africa, merely to add a comma where it is not needed and definitely does not belong, preceding "and". Please explain and motivate this superfluous comma, which has resulted in a massive recategorisation. André Kritzinger (talk) 12:10, 10 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

It brings it into line with the similar categories for all other countries. I can't say I approve of the unnecessary punctuation, but I think it's necessary for the sake of consistency.Rathfelder (talk) 15:16, 10 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
I disagree. Rather fix the wrong descriptions, even though they may be many, than change the correct descriptions from correct to wrong just to suit the mistakes in the rest. In this case, Mommy would have been quite right to say "Look, my Johnny is the only one marching in pace!" -- André Kritzinger (talk) 15:36, 10 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
I would be happy to support such a suggestion, but it needs to be made at WP:CFDRathfelder (talk) 17:50, 11 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
When was Category:Orders, decorations and medals of South Africa discussed at WP:CFD? -- André Kritzinger (talk) 18:35, 11 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
Policy is that bringing into line with an existing category heirarchy does not need discussion. changing one does.

"C2C. Bringing a category into line with established naming conventions for that category tree, or into line with the various "x by y", "x of y", or "x in y" categorization conventions specified at Wikipedia:Category names".Rathfelder (talk) 19:29, 13 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
