Subcategories & Criteria for Inclusion edit

It would be good if the subcategories -- Category:Wisdom gods and Category:Justice gods to name two that I just looked at -- included some sort of criteria for inclusion. As it stands, inclusion seems rather arbitrary rather than representative of common deities, and many entries are included for reasons unknown to me (or the article). How do we go about fixing this to make the subcategories useful and relevant? ~ Baba Bom (talk) 18:35, 1 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Suggest the criteria of the category. Undefined categories can get misused. Dimadick (talk) 16:10, 3 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Cheers User:Dimadick. Does "criteria" equal the description atop the category? It seems that the bulk of categories here don't actually have one. For many of these, the basic criteria is a no-brainer -- basically just a listing of the defining and common functions/associations for a given class of deities. (If I go over the categories, do I need to hunt for references on what exactly is x-type god according to someone, or would a common-sense syndication of roles do for the first sweep?)
I'm actually more concerned over the liberal inclusion of such deities that may (in some versions/perspectives) have a somehow related attribute, but that certainly isn't a defining feature of their role/character. For example, however is Shiva a "Justice god"; and how is Agathodaemon a "Wisdom god"? We may need some serious cleanup and recategorization to make this useful; probably by 1. first fixing up the current entries in the subcategories, and then 2. reviewing all major deity listings and tagging as necessary; and probably 3. creation of some new categories to accommodate common archetypal classes too. ~ Baba Bom (talk) 15:41, 4 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sounds like a plan. Dimadick (talk) 15:42, 4 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Merge Goddess and Gods edit

Should all deities by association be merged into a single page. This probably would make it easier to search.

I would recommend branching them off right after this page: (e.g. Nature Gods and Nature Goddesses being two separate sub-categories)--Robert Wm "Ruedii" (talk) 00:29, 15 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
