The Kriya (Yoga) and the Ashtanga (Yoga) are the two spiritual exercise paths from the Yoga (philosophy), especially in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Ashtanga is defined with 8 limbs and 10 sublimbs; Kriya is defined with only 3 of the Ashtanga sublimbs. The most compact spiritual exercise set in Yoga (philosophy) is such a Kriya, with exactly these three required components. In Hatha Yoga, the term kriya is also used for single exercises that could be integrated into any threefold spiritual-philosophical exercises. However, a Kriya in the sense of Yoga (philosophy) is not just any single component, but a fully designed threefold exercise set.
