Category:Jacobite songs

The titles below are songs that are about or related to Jacobitism: a movement to restore the Stuart line to the British throne, named after King James II and VII from 'Jacobus', which meant 'James'. James II was dethroned in favour of William of Orange, and his supporters made repeated attempts to restore him and his heirs, in particular his son James Francis Edward Stuart, and his grandson “Bonnie Prince Charlie.”

Jacobite songs do not necessarily have to come entirely from the period after James II was dethroned. Some were created in later times to romanticise Jacobitism, and others have been adapted over time and had tunes set to them. Many Jacobite songs have since become traditional folk ballad songs or nursery rhymes.
