Warden Woods

edit

Warden Woods area also can be found in neighbouring Clairlea, which is home to Warden Woods Community Centre and Warden Woods Park.

North of St. Clair and Warden in the northeast corner was once Warden Woods Mall built in 1982 by Cadillac Fairview[1] but there was criticism of CF and Hudson’s Bay as a risk gamble to change in consumer and retail revolution[2] and became Warden Power Centre in 1995 under new owner Bimcor[3] before being closing in 2005 and since redeveloped as Warden Hilltop residential area’s . The former mall site is now home to Warden Hilltop Community Centre just north of parking lot of Warden station.[4]

Birchmount Park

edit

South of St. Clair Avenue between Warden Avenue and Kennedy Road is the residential area of Birchmount Park with western part once part of the Thornbeck-Bell Estate. The Bells estate supplied milk for their Scarboro Dairy and later as milk plant for Becker's Milk.[5] The Thornbeck-Bell House (c. 1839) on east side of Warden south of St. Clair was used as Warden Woods Community Centre and restored in 2011 as a residential home.[6] Ironically Birchmount Park Collegiate is located in Birchcliffe-Cliffside.
