Bimal Dey is a Bengali travel writer. He was born in 1940. has written a number of acclaimed travel books, among which are:[1]

  • Mohatirther Shesh Jatri (মহাতীর্থের শেষ যাত্রী, The Last Traveller to the Great Shrine)
  • Poribrajoker Na Bola Kahini (পরিব্রাজকের না বলা কাহিনী, Untold Tales of the Voyager)
  • Mohatirthe Koilash Babar Shondhane (মহাতীর্থে কৈলাসবাবার সন্ধানে, In Search of Koilash Baba at the Great Shrine)
  • Pahar Panchali (পাহাড় পাঁচালী, Mountain Tales)

Reviewing Mohatirther Shesh Jatri, the author Sanjib Chattopadhyay wrote "I cursed myself for not having read such a beautiful book until now."[2]

Dey has also been translated into English. The Last Time I Saw Tibet (Penguin, 2007) recounts his journey through Tibet in the 1950s when, as a teenager, he travelled from Sikkim to Lhasa and Mansarovar.[3]

He now lives in Switzerland.
