The Beruwala polling division has a Sinhalese majority (64.2%) and a significant Moor population (34.6%) . In comparison, the Kalutara electoral district (which contains the Beruwala polling division) has a Sinhalese majority (86.8%).[1]

The Beruwala polling division has a Buddhist majority (55.7%) and a significant Muslim population (34.7%) . In comparison, the Kalutara Electoral District (which contains the Beruwala polling division) has a Buddhist majority (83.4%).[1]
