Benjamin Lancar (born September 7, 1985, in Paris) is a French politician. He was president of Jeunes Populaires, the UMP youth organization, between 2008 and 2012, as well as regional councilor for Île-de-France from 2010 to 2012.

Biography
editBenjamin Lancar is a student at middle school and then at Lycée Condorcet. He entered preparatory class at Lycée Carnot in 2003 before joining HEC Paris in 2005.[1]
In 2005 he also obtained a degree in history.[citation needed]
In 2008, he entered Sciences Po, where he obtained a master's degree in public affairs in 2011. In 2012, he was admitted to the ENA, from which he graduated as an auditor at the Cour des Comptes in 2014.[2]
Benjamin Lancar really began to be at the forefront of the activist scene with the creation in 2006 and the development of the UMP Grandes-Écoles.[3]
He was elected president of the Young People's Party by his National Council. He thus succeeds Fabien de Sans-Nicolas, at the end of an election which gave rise to strong tensions and accusations of internal pressure.[4]
During the 2010 regional elections, he was elected regional councilor for Île-de-France in Paris on the list of Valérie Pécresse. On February 16, 2011, he was appointed national secretary of the UMP for the New Economy.[5]
He is the UMP candidate in the 2012 legislative elections in the Paris's 5th constituency. He obtained 29.90% and was beaten by Seybah Dagoma in the second round. During the election for the presidency of the UMP in 2012, Benjamin Lancar supported François Fillon.[6]
On December 31, 2012, after his admission to the ENA, Benjamin Lancar resigned from his position as president of the organization of young members of the UMP.[7]
At the end of 2014, Benjamin Lancar graduated in 13th place from the “Jean de la Fontaine” class of the ENA,[8] and became an auditor at the Cour des Comptes. From January 2015, he has been giving courses at Sciences Po Paris on economic policy and methodology for preparing for the ENA competition. He also teaches public finance courses at the prep'ENA of the Institut privé de préparation aux études supérieures (IPESUP). He is a member of the DNCG within the LFP.[9]
