Anjana Sultana is a Bangladeshi film actress.[1] She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Parineeta (1986).[2]

Early life and career
editSultana was born and grew up in Dhaka.[1] Since childhood, she used to get invitations to dance on different stages of the country and abroad. At the age of 9, she caught the attention of Sohel Rana while performing dance at the then Iqbal Hall of Dhaka University. Actor Sohel Rana wished the little dancer well that day. At the age of 14, she met Sohel Rana again in an event. He offered her to join the film industry. It was Sohel Rana who gave her the opportunity to act in films.[1] She made her acting debut in the film Shetu.[3] Her first released film was Doshshu Bonhur (1976) which was directed by Shamsuddin Togor.[3] She got her breakthrough in the film Matir Maya (1976).[3] Her fifth film was Ashikkhito (1978).[3]
Personal life
editSultana has a son, Moni.[3] She served as the vice president of Manash, an anti-smoking organisation.[4]
