American Lindy Hop Championships

The American Lindy Hop Championships is a dance convention dedicated primarily to Lindy Hop.[1][2] The event started Halloween weekend in 1998 produced, in part, with the aid of Boogie Dance Productions, a New York based dance promoter. The first event happened over a four-day weekend at the old Playboy Resort in Great Gorge, New Jersey.[when?] It was chronicled in Life Magazine's Year in Pictures edition as a first-of-its-kind event promoting Lindy Hop and it's sister dances at the time - tap, jazz and blues dancing. It hosted an international audience of dancers who came to be part of the first event since the extended Swing Era to concentrate on Lindy Hop.[3][4]
