History
editAbby's was founded in 1964 by friends Albert "Abby" Broughton and James "Skinny" Harrell. They opened "Abby's Pizza Inn" in Roseburg, Oregon and it was initially staffed by them and their wives. The initial restaurant became successful and second restaurant was soon opened in Grants Pass. The company grew rapidly with locations throughout the Pacific Northwest. With each new restaurant, the company made sure to purchase the land as well.[3]
In 1988, businessman Mills Sinclair purchased Abby's. Sinclair granted Broughton, Harrell, and their wives "free-pizza-for-life cards".[3]
In 2016, a child got stuck in a claw machine located in a Roseburg Abby's. She was rescued by firefighters after about 30 minutes.[4]
In 2021, Abby's was purchased by timber company Lone Rock Resources.[5][6][7] Abby's continues to expand and open new locations.[8]
