Preparations
editAn estimate of ₱20 million was given for the expenses related to the SONA which includes equipment, logistics, meetings and food.[2] The Philippine National Police will deploy 22,000 personnel around Metro Manila to secure the speech.[3]
Seating and guests
editHouse Secretary General Reginald Velasco has pegged that 2,000 guests will attend the speech. If realized, the SONA will be the largest by attendance.[2] There are 1,814 seats in the plenary.[4]
A noted absence would be Vice President Sara Duterte who self-appointed herself as the "designated survivor", although she did not elaborate further on what she meant with the term which is only relevant to a contingency plan in the United States presidential line of succession.[4] Furthermore, Duterte's predecessors – Leni Robredo, Jejomar Binay, and Noli de Castro – will also not attend the SONA.[5]
Address
editThe speech will be covered by state-outlet Radio Television Malacañang.[6].
