  • Europe - Magdalenian Stone carving technique in Western Europe - (until ca. 10,000 BC, later followed by the Azilians) - Characterised by the carving of blades and, in the intermediate stages, of small artefacts ("microliths"). Ivory and bone work with elaborate decorations is widespread and necklaces are made from carnivore teeth. This period also saw the flourishing of cave painting.
