Scope suggestion

Would anyone be opposed to me editing the listed scope to change "women songwriters" to "women songwriters and composers" and "women singers" to "women musicians"? Alternatively, could change "women singers" to "women singers and instrumentalists." Jmertel23 (talk) 12:52, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

Project name

Why is this project's name using "in Music" when the relevant article is called Women in music? I can see no reason to use caps. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 02:06, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

Unassessed articles

I see that about two thirds of the WP Women in Music articles have not been assessed. Perhaps some of the project's participants could devote part of their editing time to assessment. I try to help out myself whenever I come across a talk page including Women in Music. Today there are 21,815 unassessed articles. Jade Bird DOB

Hey all, I'm trying to see if I can push this article as close to GA as possible and using Lorde as a guide. There are plenty of good sources out there and I can reckon I can do it. Only issue I've come across so far is, like a lot of BLPs I've seen, it's hard to find a reliable source for her date of birth. Does anyone have any tips? Assessment chart needs a look-over

Could someone take a look at the Asessing importance section? It seems like it was originally copied from the Women Writers WikiProject, and wasn't fully changed (the examples were all of writers, not music-related). "all-female" bands

A new editor has made edits to a handful of articles ("all-female band"), pointing out in the edit summaries So an all-male band is just described as a "band," but an all-female band is an "all-female band"? I'd never really noticed that issue before, but now that RiverSapphire has pointed it out, I agree. Thoughts? Schazjmd (talk) 16:17, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

Danielle Nicole

Does anyone know why Danielle Nicole has an italicized title? WP:ITALICTITLE doesn't seem applicable and I can't think of any other reason why this might've been done. -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:00, 17 March 2022 (UTC)

It was caused by the {{Infobox album}} template present at the "Danielle Nicole (EP)" section. That template automatically italicizes titles of articles where it's used. I saw last year there had been some talk about turning WP:WikiProject Women in hip hop music into a sub project or "task force" of this WikiProject, and I would be on board with that. Running from October 1 to 31, 2022, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) editathon event – Wildcard Edition! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to any and all women and women's works during the event period. Want to improve an article about a Bollywood actress? Go for it. A pioneering female scientist? Absolutely. An award-winning autobiography by a woman? Yes! GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to receive a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

Petite Meller (singer)

Hello, WikiProject Women in Music,

I wasn't sure where to take my concerns about this article but it might fit into your interests here. I was looking into the edits of some recently discovered sockpuppets and found they had both done some work on this article. I don't know if I'd call this article promotional but it reads like a fan page, going into intricate, unnecessary detail about this artist's process and inspiration. I also question her notability as on first glance, it doesn't look like she has had much success with her career. But I'm reluctant to nominate this article for deletion as I know there are separate notability standards for musicians and I'm not sure whether or not she meets them.

So, maybe this article needs severe pruning or maybe it should be nominated for deletion, I'm not sure but I'm hoping since she falls into the focus area of this WikiProject, someone here might take a minute or two to review this article and either improve it (by cutting out extraneous content) or tag it for deletion. There also might be some paid editing involved but I'm not sure how to distinguish that from the general overly positive coverage of this artist. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Collaboration of the month?

Curious, are project members interested in having a collaboration of the month? We can all work together to improve a Wikipedia article related to Women in Music each month. Hopefully we could even promote articles to quality status. Project-independent quality assessments

Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present.
