Order questions edit

When sorting in alphabetical order, how should titles with a and the be handled? Should they be ignored or sorted as is?

Also, for Japanese authors, is there a preference for name order? For now, if the source is written in Japanese, I have simply romanized the name as it is written. For references written in English, I have used the name as written. Bendono 04:59, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

A, An, and The should be ignored for the purposes of sorting (as per standard procedure in English). Romanized author names should be listed in the name order specified by WP:MOS-JA: GN-SN for those born in 1868 onward, and SN-GN for those born prior to 1868. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:15, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Art edit

In which section should books on Japanese art go? I'd like to add a book on Hiroshige's 100 views of Edo. bamse (talk) 22:00, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Added an art section. bamse (talk) 00:56, 5 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Direct contact edit

Would a section like Wikipedia:WikiProject_Resource_Exchange/Resource_Request#Direct_contact make sense here? This could be useful for people who have too many books to list all here or to list access to other online or offline resources such as questia. bamse (talk) 22:37, 18 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
