Coordinators' working group
Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.
All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. Challenge to "PD-GE-exempt" template for images
See "WP:Possibly unfree images/2009 March 11#File:Paata Burchuladze singing Tavisupleba.jpg". A copyright violation challenge being made to this image may be turning into a general challenge to the {{PD-GE-exempt}} template. The originator of the challenge mentions problems with using images of the Kremlin — despite an essentially identically worded {{PD-RU-exempt}} template — and is insisting that we need to get explicit written permission even when using material which is conceded to be an official work of the Georgian government. This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Need copyright help regarding "PD-GE-exempt" template for images
I brought this up a few weeks ago, but no one responded, so let me try again . . . .
See WP:Possibly unfree files/2009 March 11#File:Paata Burchuladze singing Tavisupleba.jpg. A copyright violation challenge was made to this image (cropped from a screen shot of what I understand is an "official" music video of Georgia's national anthem), alleging that the {{PD-GE-exempt}} copyright exemption was being interpreted too broadly. The originator of the challenge insisted that explicit written approval needed to be obtained in essentially any case involving {{PD-GE-exempt}}, even when using material which is conceded to be an official work of the Georgian government. This could make it totally impossible to use any material at all via this exemption, since (in my own experience at least) attempts to get any sort of comment on this sort of thing from Georgian government officials have always gone unanswered. Proposed Renaming of 2008 South Ossetia war
Good day, everyone! I would just like to let everyone know that currently, there is a discussion underway at Talk:2008 South Ossetia war#Requested move about a renaming of the article from its current name ("2008 South Ossetia war") to "Russia-Georgia war" or "Russian-Georgian war". This discussion seems to be spending literally more space on Russia's war guilt, or absence thereof, than what English-speakers actually call this war!
A similar discussion already occurred about two to three months ago, during which an extraordinarily slim majority of users (the final tally was 24-23, although one user voted for both sides) defeated the proposed renaming. However, the renaming proposal was brought back up, as some individuals feel that a new consensus has appeared, while other users believe that the consensus has not changed since the last polling.
I hope that the input from this project will help get the discussion back on track, so that the improvement of this article, which your project considers to be of Top Importance, will swiftly continue. Help on a name
Hi, could you help me with a Georgian name? There was this soldier in 1940. His name is Lithuanized as Gadžibalas Butajevas. I would think that the last name should be Butayev, but I am clueless ass to the first name. Lithuanian sound "dž" is pronounced as the first "g" in George. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Football
A few discussions have been started about the Umaglesi Liga and a couple players. Does anyone have any information on if the league is "professional" (players are paid a living wage to play). I am also looking at the Nikoloz Phirtskhalava (misspelled per the team page) article for deletion and it looks like FC Dinamo Tbilisi could at least be professional. I am also looking for as many sources as possible but google does not offer a Georgian into English translation and there are not enough hits in google news to assert significant coverage for many players in the league. Cyrillic edittools
Hello everyone. I am currently updating some of the functions in the edit window here in Wikipedia. Below the edit window we have a list of Cyrillic characters, so it should be easier to insert them in articles. That list is currently not complete, so I would need some help from some editors than can read and write Cyrillic. See MediaWiki talk:Edittools#Cyrillic (2).
Oh, and please don't start a discussion about the edittools here on this page, instead come to that page.
