P2P Software Templates repetition (wasn't vandalism!!!!) edit

I copied all the templates in this pages Software section and also created new ones which I put under Userboxes/Computing as they fit under computers more than music. So the list of P2P softwares on this page should be deleted as this would be repetition of templates. this should make this page focus more on music and musical preferences...(apologise if i accidently deleted any useful stuff)--Wikipedian DOG 13:54, 26 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't really know why you're posting under rap/hip-hop, but it's there...
 This user enjoys J-Pop.
 This user enjoys J-Rock.
Although, the fair use images need to be replaced, as Gnome Bot keeps reminding...--Cartoonmaster 23:41, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Indie music edit

Can someone make an "I like Indie music" genre userbox? I would, but wouldn't want to screw up something important! --BakugekiNZ 04:25, 19 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Indie music is a big vague. Are you talking about the folkish soft rock thing, or all independant music, or indie pop, or indie rock, or what?--Urthogie 08:19, 19 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Indie rock really. --BakugekiNZ 10:20, 19 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nine Inch Nails edit

Bands with Multiple-Meaning Names edit

The "Fan" boxes are fantastic, but bands like Cream and Queen can't really be used with them. Is there a way to work around this? I'm a die-hard fan of Queen, and I'd love to be able to use a "fan" box without having to put (band) after the name Queen so that it redirects to the right page. --Freakazette 05:59, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Simply put [[Queen (band)|Queen]] in the text; this will show up as Queen but will link to the band's article. This format is universal for Wikipedia. Willbyr 06:36, 10 February 2006 (UTC) (edited to have nowiki tags Overand 11:59, 10 February 2006 (UTC))Reply
  • I tried that, actually. It still does the exact same thing. --Freakazette 03:05, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • I created userboxes for Queen and Cream and put them in the Bands section. Hope you like them. :-) Willbyr 05:22, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

how 'bout a box for people who love to march in the band? Tobias087 02:07, 29 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Baritone Horn edit

Hey all. I play the Baritone (Horn) and was sad to see that this page lacks a premade Baritone userbox.

I have one on my Talk page (Which is in desperate need of cleaning, so don't go there straight away).

Is there any one with the universal format for Music boxes that could just add a Baritone one?--Logical2u 20:50, 3 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Madonna (entertainer) problems edit

I am trying to clean up some pages that have Madonna instead of Madonna (entertainer). Some people have the userbox {{user artist-0|Madonna}} and I want to change it so it point to [[Madonna (entertainer)]] but to still say Madonna. Does anybody know how this could be possible? Thanks. Chinese traditional music? edit

Can there be a userbox template for "this user enjoys Chinese traditional music"? --Bluejay Young 05:57, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

This user enjoys Chinese traditional music.

I think adding logograms for "chinese traditional music" may improve the general appearance of this userbox but I don't speak chinese. Anyone?Rosa 07:23, 12 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

AC/DC edit

I personally think that the boys from Sydney diserve their own userbox. While I'm far to wiki-illiterate to make one myself, I was wondering if anyone else could create one. Personally, I'd like the text to be "This user rocks out to the Thunder From Down Under". Much appreciated! (USMA2010 04:15, 23 June 2006 (UTC))Reply

Fife template edit

The fife template points to the wrong article. It should be Fife (musical instrument)|fife]]. I tried to fix this, but couldn't work out how.--Dbolton 02:21, 29 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Banjo edit

Does the banjo get no love? If we can specify "saxophone with circular breathing," and "fife," at least include the banjo. --Hazelfo 18:56, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Barbershop Quartet edit

This user sings in a barbershop quartet

I created this template for barbershop quartets, and I tried using the existing logo for the Barbershop Harmony Society, but for some reason it refuses to scale. If someone has a clue for me why it won't scale, please fix the template. Once it's fixed it can be added to the page, I assume? -- S. Gartner talk 11:28, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Greg Louganis edit

Okay, so it's funny for all of two seconds, but can someone sort out the 'band' box, please? I would, but I lack the technical know-how. Cheers! User:Wozocoxonoy 19:00, 28 November 2006 (GMT)

{{band-3|opeth}} edit

if you put "band-3|whatever" it wont work on your profile page, but it works here. why is that?--Lygophile 10:32, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Vocalist edit

Might I suggest a "This user is a vocalist" userbox? Perhaps with subcategories: folk, opera, rock, etc. There's no more popular instrument than the human voice! Kyriosity 14:25, 31 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'd also like one. Egfrank 08:05, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

J-POP edit

if it isnt to much to ask, can someone make a J-POP catagory please?--Lolicon3043910 18:33, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

You can make userboxes yourself if you want. Ashibaka (tock) 03:07, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
you seew thats the problem, I cant but il try it again!--Lolicon3043910 13:28, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
We already have a J-pop UBX (see top of page), but if you are talking about strictly about the category? (Wikipedians interested in...), I don't believe we have one. --Cartoonmaster 23:47, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adding Userboxes edit

What are the requirements for a userbox to be "qualified" to be shown on this page? I have a perfectly good Ozzy Osbourne userbox I've already submitted to the new userboxes page that I could post under Artists. How will I be allowed to do that?

Renaissance Music edit

I've created the following userbox for Renaissance music -- let me know what you think. Simmaren 01:32, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

 This user enjoys Renaissance music

Violin edit

The violin userbox uses the same picture as the classical music userbox making it rather repetitive when you put 'This user like classical music' with 'This user plays the violin'.

Given that it's hard to capture the essence of classical music in one small picture, I propose a change to the violin userbox:

  This user plays the violin.

IMHO, this is more pleasing to the eye as well.

Centy 23:30, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Requests edit

I noticed that under the list of classical music artists, there were only composers listed - no current or near-current artists (e.g. Horowitz, Rubinstein, Barenboim, Yo-Yo Ma, Herbert von Karajan, etc.). I think a few userboxes should be added to describe this, but I'm still too new to Wiki to learn to make a few myself!

P.S.: If one were to refer to the list I gave above, could one especially make userboxes of Barenboim and Rubinstein, as I am a great fan of both!--MusicalConnoisseur (talk) 02:10, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Two requests edit

Requesting an userbox for having relative pitch, and one for enjoying music by Edward Grieg. --Ifrit (talk) 04:04, 7 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Those were a couple of easy ones! They are both done and added to the project page! Thanks for requesting them ! - Ahunt (talk) 11:57, 8 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Two More edit

How about "This user is a songwriter" and "This user supports local music" or something along those lines...Bacondero (talk) 20:53, 27 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Those were easy ones, too, although I didn't find a link for an article on local music. Can you suggest a place to link that to? I have added these two boxes to the project page, hope they suit. Feel free to edit them if you like!

Genre section edit

Genre section was too messed up. So I added new sub sections: Rock (for alternative, punk, metal) Hip hop & rap, Electronic (for pop, dance, techno, industrial) and Religious (gospel, Christian rock)--Kmaster (talk) 03:10, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Musicals" edit

Should the ubxes dealing with musicals possibly be moved to Wikipedia:Userboxes/Media/Theatre? Skiasaurus (skē’ ə sôr’ əs) 08:53, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also--side note--User:Gaogier/Thrillerbox does not belong in the musicals category. Skiasaurus (skē’ ə sôr’ əs) 08:56, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Upon further consideration, I think it might be a better idea to get rid of Wikipedia:Userboxes/Media/Theatre and move the one userbox that's there to this page. I'll move the discussion to that talk page. Skiasaurus (skē’ ə sôr’ əs) 12:27, 24 December 2008 (UTC) Reply
I take it back... that doesn't make sense either... and I've had a nice long conversation with myself, so forget it. :-) Skiasaurus (skē’ ə sôr’ əs) 12:31, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Voice type userboxes edit

Why were the voice type userboxes deleted? It seems like the person whose page hosted them was banned, but is there a way we could salvage those boxes anyway? The manual-entry voice type box doesn't seem to be working. Beggarsbanquet (talk) 04:25, 1 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

They are back! Double sharp (talk) 13:11, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
We have a problem on this page. I number of boxes are not displaying because we have exceeded the number of transclusions permitted on one page. The only solution is to split the page. Let me see if I can fix that. - Ahunt (talk) 18:04, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
