Project

WikiProject New York Yankees was founded on April 28, 2007 to record, preserve, and organize the history of the New York Yankees and that of all articles related to the team on Wikipedia. This project follows the guidelines set forth by our parent project, WikiProject Baseball. If you think you can make a positive contribution to the project, please feel free to become a member by joining the list of members. If you're looking for guidance on where to begin, or if you have any ideas or comments, you can address the project's discussion forum.

Scope

An article falls under the scope of this WikiProject if it entails anything directly related to the Yankees franchise from the year 1901 to the present day (i.e. players, managers, seasons, playoff series, etc). This includes all events of the following teams:

Baltimore Orioles (1901–1902)
New York Highlanders (1903–1912)
New York Yankees (1913–present)

Tasks & Goals

Tasks

Maintain the current season article, 2012 New York Yankees season.
Use the {{WikiProject Baseball}} project template to tag talk pages of all Yankees related articles, rating their quality and importance for our specific project. Utilize the WikiProject Baseball template page for an explanation on how to do this.
Improve every individual season article of the franchise from 1900 to 2012.
Upload free-use pictures relating to the Yankees franchise to Wikimedia Commons. This includes photos of current and former players, managers, stadiums, and anything else that could be incorporated into an article within our scope.
Translate or create Yankees articles for other languages (such as Spanish).
Quickly revert or undo any vandalism made to a Yankees related article.
Improve overall syntax and grammar in any related article.
Provide more citations to any related article.

Long-term goal

Improve all Yankees related articles to a higher assessed status. Although unrealistic, the ultimate goal is to have all articles within our scope achieve Featured Article or Featured List status.
