Four big families of Hong Kong

I missed the prod. The "big 4" concept was obsolete in Hong Kong, but it was cited in secondary source in the past, so no such "PROD, concern was: self-identification as "blue-blood" family" —Matthew_hk tc 08:55, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

American Sleep Association

Expertise and authority where questioned previously. These issues have been resolved by listing the physicians and scientists who are responsible for the content.

Notability issues have been resolved. A previous notation referenced that was broken-link is now available. Furthermore, there are several notations and references to the organization from respected media sources, academic institutions, and government resources.

Please note that prior to 2016, there was a domain squatter using the exact same entity name. The domain squatter has since been removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sleepdoctor1 (talkcontribs) 12:01, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Note: This page was deleted under speedy deletion criterion G4, which means the page is a near-carbon-copy of a page previously deleted via deletion debate. Pages deleted via deletion debate will not be restored here; go to WP:Deletion review or contact the administrator who closed the deletion debate instead. The title is in fact salted because it's been repeatedly re-created without addressing any of the issues brought up in the original AfD debate. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 18:53, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
Well, the most recently deleted version is substantially different and expanded from the version that was deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/American Sleep Association. However, the points raised in that discussion about lack of independent significant coverage by independent sources still isn't addressed.
I'd be willing to restore this to draft space for improvement provided it is submitted for review via the WP:AFC process. But it is not a main-space-ready article. ~Anachronist (talk) 22:50, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

500 Block Buffalo

The argument you're making is not a good one. See WP:Notability. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 23:37, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
Correct. "Up and coming" subjects do not merit Wikipedia articles. A subject cannot be up-and-coming, it must have already arrived. When that happens, feel free to start the draft again. As long as there is no possibility now of the subject being notable, there is no point restoring it. We are not a hosting service for unsuitable material. I won't object if another admin restores it (it's G13 after all) but I personally don't see the point. ~Anachronist (talk) 03:11, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

(ec) I restored the deleted article, because a user had re-created it as a draft, which broke the attribution. This version has the attribution, as required by the CC-by license. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:53, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
@Diannaa: As I read it, the original page was not deleted on grounds of failed attribution. Am I mistaken? KalHolmann (talk) 02:06, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
The problem is that the draft, which was created on October 19, had no attribution (it was a copy-paste, identical to the deleted article). So I restored the original page, which has the legally required attribution, and redirected the draft to the article. The AFD was closed as "soft delete", which means that the article can be restored on request, so I took the creation of an identical draft to be such a request. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:17, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
@Diannaa: So submitting a copy-paste, identical to the deleted article, is equivalent to requesting restoration of a soft-deleted page! That's most impressive. Thank you for explaining. KalHolmann (talk) 02:24, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
It seemed the simplest solution to the attribution problem — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:28, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
@Diannaa: It makes me wonder, though, why we even have this page "Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion"—I mean, other than to needlessly complicate matters. KalHolmann (talk) 02:31, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Desmond Cole

I am working on a brand new version of an article about Cole - at User:Geo Swan/Desmond Cole. I asked the closing administrator to graft the deleted versions to the beginning of User:Geo Swan/Desmond Cole.

They declined, asserting that the previous 2017 article was a cut and paste copyright violation of the webarchive version of Cole's personal webpage from 2007.

A comparison of the deletionpedia version of the Desmond Cole article, and the webarchive version of Cole's personal webpage from 2007, shows zero overlap. There are no repeated paragraphs, no repeated sentences. I simply can't explain why the closing administrator insists there is a copyright problem.

We are all fallible, so I am happy to assume the closing administrator is normally on the ball, and that the copyright violation they think they found is an instance of normal human fallibity -- not their best work.

So, I am requesting grafting of the deleted revisions of Desmond Cole to User:Geo Swan/Desmond Cole, and Talk:Desmond Cole to User talk:Geo Swan/Desmond Cole.

Thanks! Geo Swan (talk) 16:41, 24 October 2018 (UTC) —Geo Swan (talk) 16:41, 24 October 2018 (UTC)

There are three versions of the article in the history:
  • Two versions deleted in 2006.
  • Two versions deleted in 2006, four minutes after the first.
  • 22 versions that existed from May to July 2017.
My copyright based objections apply to the four 2006 versions as I interpreted Would you please graft the first revisions of Desmond Cole to User:Geo Swan/Desmond Cole? as referring to the 2006 versions rather than the 2017 ones. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 17:03, 24 October 2018 (UTC)
  • This should not be that difficult.
Obviously the 22 revisions from May to July 2017 are very useful. They contain the references used in 2017. Google used to be a fabulous tool, for wikipedia contributors. But, over the last dozen or so years, google technical staff have tuned it, to make it more useful to advertizers who use google, and google's day to day users. Their tuning have tuned out older and more obscure hits -- no longer shown to us. Great for advertizers and day to day users, but bad for us. So, old references are very useful.
The old revisions also show who worked on the article, useful if a contributor today wanted to contact them for their opinion or advice.
Revisions within that 22 might have valuable material, that someone trimmed, that deserves being re-inserted today.
As for the four revisions from 2006, which I didn't even know existed, until JJE explained here that was the sole reason to deny my request... There is a pretty good chance that the contributor was Cole himself, in which case it would not be a copyright violation, but would be a lapse from WP:COI, and some other policies and guidelines. If the 2006 contributor was Cole himself, or a friend of his, and the wiki-ID had left email contact info, I'd ask them if they had an image of Cole that could be released under a free license, to illustrate the article.
Part of what I wrote on User talk:Jo-Jo Eumerus was:
But, when copyrighted material is accidentally, or on purpose, inserted into article space, we don't generally take steps to hide the copyright material from those looking at prior revisions. Generally, we just revert the revision(s) which added copyright material, or replace it with new content that is not a copyright violation. Is it your opinion that the presence of one or more revisions that you think contain copyrighted material justify not restoring revisions that don't contain copyrighted material?
  1. Is the existence of deleted revisions that contained copyright violations a good reason to decline to restore deleted revisions that do not contain copyright violations? Surely there is no copyright problem restoring revisions that do not contain material protected by copyright.
  2. Is the existence of deleted revisions that contained copyright violations a good reason to decline to restore all deleted revisions when subsequent deleted versions do not contain copyright violations? No one would revert back to the version from 2006 -- even by accident, because it is a dozen years out of date.
So, could someone restore the 22 revisions from 2017, and the talk page, and record here the wiki-ID(s) used for the four revisions from 2006? Geo Swan (talk) 18:03, 24 October 2018 (UTC)
@Jo-Jo Eumerus: If it were me, I'd restore the whole thing and hide the copyvio diffs. ~Anachronist (talk) 16:47, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
I've done so without the prior page version. Now at User:Geo Swan/Desmond Cole 2. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:57, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
  • Great! Jo-Jo Eumerus would it be possible to record, here, the wiki-ID(s) who made the four edits in 2006? It is likely that those edits were made by Cole himself, or someone associated with him. While a lapse from COI, and other guidelines, it is likely they could release a free image of Cole, to illustrate the article. Thanks! Geo Swan (talk) 18:20, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Draft:Milk Makeup

I went to start the articles for creation process for this page only to see it was previously speedily deleted, coded CSD G11 and CSD G13. I wasn’t able to see the previous editor’s draft yet but let me fix this page to Wikipedian standards for company articles. There are more than enough reliable sources to establish its notability. And no, I am not connected to the subject.

Edit:I just realized I’m asking for undeletion of a G11 coded article. —Trillfendi (talk) 20:11, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

If the page was deleted as G13, it obviously wasn't so screaming promotional that G11 was justifiable. It's not uncommon for drafts, especially by newer or COI users, to have a slight bent due to biases. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 21:05, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

This was already undeleted once almost a year ago with a pledge that it would be worked on, but no edits were made to improve the entry for resubmission. Articles for creation is not an indefinite hosting service for material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia's article mainspace. We may be willing to restore it again, but only if you provide a definite assurance that you actually intend to work on it and provide a short description of what you intend to do to improve it to meet our policies and guidelines. Please advise. —Cryptic 20:10, 27 October 2018 (UTC)

  •   Not done – this page was deleted as a blatant advertisement under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion and Wikipedia is not to be used as a vehicle for promotion. This does not necessarily mean a suitable article on this topic cannot be created. If it is a notable topic, e.g., multiple reliable, secondary, published sources that are entirely independent of the subject have written about it in substantive detail (not just mere mentions), then a neutrally written article may be possible. This one was written like a commercial. ReaderofthePack (。◕‿◕。) 17:35, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
