Tim Leffel

Hello, my name is Andrea. I upload and edit articles in Wikipedia in Spanish, and in these days I´m trying to begin in English Wikipedia. The editor of a page that has been deleted, asked me to attempt to restore it. This page was removed by an administrator with the following message: Expired PROD, concern was: Appears non-significant. References are mainly to self-published reviews, and I have appears to have Been a "runner up" to the awards. The editor has no experience and did not claim on talk page, only tried to restore the same page, obviously, with no success. He asked me if I can restore the page, following 100% Wikipedia rules. I would like to recover the original text to improve it, because the publisher does not have the file. This is possible? Thank you! -Ane wiki (talk) 22:27, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Thomas Rathnam

"Thomas Rathnam" wiki page is hosted in the Wikipedia site more than a year.

It has more than forty links to the websites. Most of the links are in working condition.

This wiki page was edited, corrected, updated by many Editors. Since it shows that the person is a notable.

Few Editors may updated the new and forthcoming projects.

As for my concern, "Thomas Rathnam" is a well known upcoming Music Composer. His films also released in 'Tamil, Kannada..." And his albums also released in "English, Tamil, Hindi...

So, it is not a fake one.

Wikipedia is appropriating the new up-comers and achievers.

Thanks to Wikipedia for hosting such a pages.

Hope Wikipedia won't delete this wiki page. Please consider my obligation. -Praisewinner (talk) 15:35, 15 July 2014 (UTC)--Praisewinner (talk) 15:35, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

  •   Not done I'm declining this for two reasons: the first is that the deleted version is very promotional in tone and would require a complete re-write to meet our guidelines for encyclopedic-ness and NPOV. The entire thing would have to be scrapped. The second is that this reads like it is WP:COPYVIO from somewhere, although I can't find it at this point in time. I have no problem with you writing a new AfC, though. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:16, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

Simon Hinton

I created the page Simon Hinton 5 years ago as this published writer and esoteric researcher is of major interest in the genre. The page has undergone a number of changes through the years and remains of public interest. Simon Hinton has a notable public profile and is regularly interviewed on radio, television and other media on his writings and work and ideas on the esoteric matters and the occult. The A7 deletion is unsatisfactory and I request the page be immediately restored. -Lucywills (talk) 00:22, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

  • You might be able to ask User:Seraphimblade to send a copy to your userspace. The only thing to remember is that before restoring this to the mainspace, you will have to show how the person passes notability guidelines by providing links to the interviews and coverage of Hinton and his work. Be aware that not all media sources are seen as reliable per Wikipedia's guidelines. Since Hinton writes about things that are considered to be fringe theories per Wikipedia norms, it is likely that many of the sources won't be considered to be reliable sources. Don't take this personally, as it doesn't mean that any given person has a bias against the writer or his topics, just that in many instances those websites/news outlets/etc don't undergo an editorial/verification process that we can vet. Sometimes even the most visible places can be seen as unreliable, as in the case with Coast to Coast AM, which cannot be used as a RS. As a result it's usually very, very difficult to find coverage for anyone that isn't extremely mainstream, which can be frustrating. A good idea, if you're looking to gain a userspace copy, would be to provide the deleting admin with sourcing to show notability. In many cases admins will be willing to userfy, but if they think that there isn't a good chance that the subject passes notability guidelines or that there aren't RS out there (in other words, that there isn't a reasonable chance that anyone could improve it), they will decline to userfy a copy. In any case, I recommend running sources through our reliable sources noticeboard at WP:RS/N, as that's an area where people frequently go to ask whether or not a source can be used. I would also recommend that you introduce yourself at Wikipedia:WikiProject Occult and ask if anyone can help you look for sources. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:27, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

  •   Not done The page hasn't been deleted, not really, it's just been moved to Neighborhoods in Lincoln, Nebraska. If you object to the new re-titling of the article, the proper place to bring this up would be at WP:RfD. But first, it would be better to talk this over with the person who moved the article, User:CrunchySkies. It looks like this was done due to naming conventions and the expectation that the article would move beyond a list-type article, so discussing this with CS would be a good idea before doing anything else. I've tagged them so they can be aware of the request, but the discussion should take place on the article's talk page. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:30, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/SETINVESTIGATES.COM

It is total crap that someone deleted the page for SETINVESTIGATES.COM. Most likely it is because mainstream media doesn't like being challenged by an upstart Web based news service that has kicked their ass for the past two years. The fact that a page about a legitimate news agency is deleted by Wikipedia shows that Wikipedia isn't as great a resource for information as it touts. Yes, I am upset because I worked to get someone to try an resolve this issue a year ago. I don't understand all of the coding crap and I tried to get the jerk who deleted the page to help. That didn't work. Hopefully, someone will take action and restore the page. Maybe, you can go to the Web site and look to see that it is real. Maybe you can freaking Google "SETINVESTIGATES Awards" and see that the site have ben recognized for its work. But I doubt it.Btnbilliards (talk) 13:34, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

  •   Not done. The page was deleted because it hadn't been edited in 9 months and article drafts are not an indefinite holding space. I can't see where you "tried to get the jerk who deleted the page to help" but if your message to them conveyed that sentiment I can't imagine they felt too compelled to help. There's no grand conspiracy to bury this site or any others, just a draft process where an editor determined that the page was not likely to meet our notability requirements. I strongly believe it shall have an article on wiki, but also if it the article that had been there already (written by myself) demands improvements - please suggest which - please do revert it to my sandbox so i could work on it but not from scratch - this is too hard. so can i request undeletion ..or in worse case at least ask for userfication? please.. -Lantuszka (talk) 12:21, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Helly Luv

Please undelete so that proper page can be constructed. Was speedy deleted twice in the past 18 months. This artist has been covered by Reuters, Guardian, and Finnish, Turkish, and Kurdish papers. There is a DE wiki article. We would be well served to have a well sourced EN wiki article, and would have been better served by expanding the article instead of speedy deletion! -William Allen Simpson (talk) 11:40, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

  • The article was speedily deleted, partly because one edit accidentally removed all the content except for an image. However, the version with the text was proposed for deletion, so I have userfied that version. I Moved it to Draft:Helly Luv2. Please note the existence of Draft:Helly Luv, perhaps some collaboration is in order. --S Philbrick(Talk) 15:22, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Not done and will not be done. You have got to be kidding. That article was not an encyclopedia article, it was an advertisement, clearly violating Wikipedia's policy prohibiting promotion. Your undeletion request here is also an advertisement. Your "pledge" is irrelevant.
You clearly have not read, or failed to comprehend, Wikipedia's guideline about conflict of interest. You also should read Wikipedia:Golden rule to learn the basics of what is required by a Wikipedia article.

FlexRAID

This page needs to be restored as it was deleted due to lack of understanding of the technology presented. The software is being used by more than 10,000 users worldwide. It is not well known only because it spread word of mouth and isn't publicized. However, it represents a significant technology innovation that should be documented. Google "FlexRAID" and/or visit its user forum to understand that it is a real technology representing a valuable approach to storage data protection. If something needs to be well known before it can be on wikipedia, then the site has little informative value. Please restore the page. -Spectwiki (talk) 04:11, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

Not done Understanding of the technology is irrelevant to whether it warrants an article. It being a significant technological innovation is irrelevant to whether it warrants an article. That it's real is irrelevant to whether it warrants an article. Being well known is also irrelevant to whether it warrants an article. The issue is that an encyclopedia is a tertiary source and as such it details what is already known through previous publication in the wider world – not "well known" – but already published in reliable sources. That is absolutely necessary because a tertiary source encyclopedia can only report on existing knowledge, and is never properly for announcing new things or the platform for original publication. If sufficient reliable sources unconnected to the subject do not exist from which a verifiable content can be written, then Wikipedia should not have an article because of the very fabric of what it is. In any event, this page is only for requesting uncontroversial undeletion; no article deleted after debate on the merits at a deletion discussion is ever undeleted here, as is prominently announced at the top of the page.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 04:28, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

I think it is important to understand that the page was deleted without participation of those that understand and know of the technology. Why is it okay to document BeyondRAID and Drobo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drobo) but not okay to document FlexRAID? FlexRAID is documented on many external sites (http://assassinhtpcblog.com/server-flexraid/, https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/FlexRAID, http://www.havetheknowhow.com/Configure-the-server/Install-FlexRAID-v2.x.html) and even compares against technologies such ZFS and others (http://snapraid.sourceforge.net/compare.html) and heavily discussed in many forums (a simple Google search will bring many). Again, it is an important technology being used by more than 10,000 users around the world. To say, should not be documented in an Encyclopedia is short sighted. Every other technology is competes against (ZFS, BeyoundRAID, unRAID) is on wikipedia. The very simple fact that it is misunderstood so far as to delete its wikipedia page itself demands that it be better recorded. Please restore the page. If edits are required, they will be made. FYI, FlexRAID has several patents pending. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spectwiki (talkcontribs) 21:05, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

Not done. As Fuhghettaboutit says, and is it says at the top of this page, this is not the place to dispute the results of a deletion discussions. This article was deleted as a result of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/FlexRAID. If you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you should contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Lankiveil (talk). After that, if your concerns are not addressed, you may apply at WP:Deletion review.
The question is not whether the technology is understood; it is whether other people, independently, have thought it significant enough to write about it in reliable sources, see WP:Notability (summary). In regard to all the other products, see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. JohnCD (talk) 22:03, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

For reference, this is the third request posted by Spectwiki.

Each time, Spectwiki has been informed that the proper procedure is to take the case to WP:Deletion review if the deleting administrator declines to restore the article. And each time, we have a case of WP:IDIDNTHEARTHAT from Spectwiki.

@Spectwiki:, be advised that repeating a request that has already been denied multiple times will not result in the article being restored. Your vexatious requests have crossed the line into WP:Disruptive editing and WP:Tendentious editing, and will lead to a long-term block on your account. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:47, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

If something needs to be well known before it can be on wikipedia, then the site has little informative value. The editor obviously has no idea how Wikipedia works, which might be the reason for the repeated requests. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 00:17, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Again, this is the first true follow up on the topic. I am not familiar with wikipedia procedures and never got notice of the previous responses on the request. In fact, I thought no one was replying. The whole system is confusing and these discussion need to take place under a much better collaborative platform where history of discussions can be properly tracked. So, "vexatious requests" is an overreaction on your part. So, enough with the dramatization of the facts. You might have access to the history of the request, but I don't (or at least don't know where to access it). I have never gotten a response from Lankiveil (talk) (at least I don't see any record of my request on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Lankiveil). I will try contacting him again.

The statement that I did not provide a response is false, last time this was requested I responded within 24 hours at my talk page, the discussion which has now been archived. I don't really have anything more to add, unless reliable sources have turned up in the last couple of months since I last looked at this in depth, it would be inappropriate for me to restore the article as it will just be deleted again. Unfortunately it seems that WP:IDIDNTHEARTHAT is the order of the day here. If anyone thinks I'm being unreasonable here I'm happy for this to be restored by another admin or to be listed at DRV for a wider view, but I believe both courses of action would lead to the article rapidly being deleted again and wasting everyone's time. Lankiveil (speak to me) 12:16, 17 July 2014 (UTC).

Lankiveil, apologies if you replied. I must have not gotten to your reply till it was likely archived. Again, the platform is confusing to me. I provided some sources on your page. These are independent companies write ups on the technology. If these don't qualify as reliable sources, can you please explain why and what constitute reliable source? On your page, I provided an Open source site where it is being compared: http://snapraid.sourceforge.net/compare.html Custom system vendor where it is being explained: http://assassinhtpcblog.com/server-flexraid/ The company's site: http://www.flexraid.com Yes, many of the references when doing a Google search are on forums and blogs (all independent). Again, the page was originally created by this user: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Smurf-IV/Toolset FYI, I am keeping a browser open on the topic as to properly follow it up to avoid what has happened in the past. Thanks for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spectwiki (talkcontribs) 14:24, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

  • @Spectwiki: there's no need to keep a browser tab open. You can see the contributions for your account at the top right of the page (looks something like this. Clicking on that will bring you to Special:Contributions/Spectwiki. Each of those may point to a page that has been archived (if you wait too long in checking back or replying), but even then you may look at the page history to find a reply. I realize that's a pain sometimes but it's a function of the software and not likely to change in the very near term.
  • You should look at our guidance on reliable sources which generally excludes forums and blogs. As such, noting that forum and blog posts exist about the subject isn't going to change anyone's mind. I'm also not sure you've been reading what Lankiveil has said carefully enough. The article was deleted through a deletion discussion, which means we can't just unilaterally overturn it. Adding more evidence here (unless it was incredibly strong) doesn't change anything and waiting for a reply here to change that will be pretty fruitless.
  • Your best bet is to make a draft article (see articles for creation on how to get started with that) on FlexRAID and try to resolve the issues at hand in the deletion debate, namely that there don't seem to be enough independent, reliable sources to build an article which meets our core content expectations. If you want help doing that or understanding our guidance on sourcing, let me know. Protonk (talk) 15:08, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

@Protonk Thanks a great deal. That was very informative. As mentioned, I was fairly loss navigating through the platform and really did not see the replies to the inquires until now. I will follow your advice and work on creating the draft article and attempt at addressing much of the raised issues. Where do I submit the draft article for review when ready? Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spectwiki (talkcontribs) 21:10, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

@Spectwiki: Left a note on your talk page. We can continue the discussion there so this section can eventually be archived. Protonk (talk) 21:59, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

As per your message for deletion of our page due to marketing content, we would like to tell you that the page doesn't have any content that promotes the Company or its services. We have created the page by referring to the content of other players in the Industry for instance HDFC and SBI. Infact we have taken idea from the said pages (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Housing_Development_Finance_Corporation, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Bank_of_India)and drafted our content in a similar way.

The content is purely based on the facts and figures of Indiabulls existing wikipedia page. We would appreciate if you could help us exactly locate the words/phrases/sentences that is not according to the guidelines of the wikipedia so that we can revise the same and submit it again -Sachin wiki123 (talk) 11:39, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Note: The page was speedily-deleted under criterion G11. Pages deleted under that criterion are generally not undeleted because they require complete rewrites to be viable encyclopedia articles or because they violate our biographical or fair-use policies. The existence of other content doesn't justify your content; your article still has to abide by Wikipedia's policies (such as WP:Neutral point of view). If you have any affiliation with the subject, you are obligated to disclose that affiliation. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 17:28, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
@Sachin wiki123: I'll also note that Housing Development Finance Corporation should not be viewed as a good model. State Bank of India is somewhat better, but neither resemble the version that was deleted. For better models, look to Wikipedia:Good_articles/Social_sciences_and_society#Economics_and_business, which includes several banks. You do not have to match the work done on those articles to be accepted, but better to look to a good article than a borderline one as a "template".--S Philbrick(Talk) 17:48, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
Furthermore, because Sachin wiki123 clearly has a WP:Conflict of interest regarding the subject of the article, it would be best to write a draft article and submit via Wikipedia:Articles for creation rather than attempting to publish it in main article space. ~Amatulić (talk) 00:22, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
