After a 15-month absence from nominating anything here, I've finally back with my first-ever creation of a list. I may not be a regular nominator, but an opportunity existed that was too good to pass up. The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, a major sporting event in the U.S., somehow didn't have a dedicated list of winners until recently, when I got to work. This list took a long time to make, but I believe the end result is worth the effort. From the referencing to the sortability to the lead, I think this is ready to have the star put on it. It has been through a peer review, and the feedback was quite positive. As in the distant past, I'll be here to address comments as they pop up.   • Support provided you correct the mis-spelling of "prestigious" in the lead.     • In the lede, full names or colloquial names, but consistency, please. Compare University of Oregon against Ohio State.
    • Isn't Indianapolis supposed to get the tournament every year that is divisible by five now? Or am I mixing this up with the Open Championship and St. Andrews?

      • I changed Oregon to the colloquial version to match most of the rest of the page, including the table itself. However, there's an inherent issue with the other two full names (CCNY and UCLA). The two are typically referred to in abbreviated form, which doesn't mesh well with the FLC demand that we avoid abbreviations that don't mention the full name on their first use. I'm inclined to leave them as they are, unless a good remedy can be found.

  • " are held in a different city each year, along with the championship game;[6] Indianapolis will host the Final Four every five years until 2040" why? What makes Indianapolis so special?
  • "The first NCAA Tournament, which took place in 1939," repeat of "The NCAA Tournament has been held annually since 1939..."
  • "After the second NCAA Tournament in 1940, control of the event was transferred to the NCAA." reads odd because you've already said "NCAA Tournament" and then go on to say it was controlled the following year by the NCAA...
  • Ref 10 (less important than the NIT) needs a quote from that source, and is it just the reporter from USA Today that thought that?
  • Have mentioned this before. When sorting by score, and with the winning score tied then surely the fewer points conceded should rank higher? E.g., 1975 UCLA won 92-85 while 1954 La Salle won 92-76. La Salle's victory should rank higher than UCLA's as they conceded fewer points.
  • "The result was later vacated by the NCAA" the result was vacated? Odd English for me. Perhaps this is commonplace USEng, but vacate is not usually "active" but a passive verb.
  • Not direct but why isn't the "NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament" template the normal width?

    • It effectively serves as the home city of the NCAA; it's where their offices and such are located. I added a little bit on this, though I didn't want to overdo it.

    • Doubled up on the references and added a quotation from the first one.
    • I think I got the sorting to work as you wanted, but you may want to double-check it.
    • Re-wrote it to avoid using that word. I don't know if I like it more now since it's wordier, but it should make it easier to understand.
    • It appears that the template is set up to align its rows by decade. I tried toying with it in preview mode, but when I widened the template it created large blocks of empty space, which I didn't think were terribly appealing.
