Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/Qbugbot 4

@Edibobb and Headbomb: Hi. I'm revisiting this old BRFA because of a problem I found. An extended trial (10 edits) was approved, and then diffs for 10 article edits were presented above. So far, so good. However, looking at the bot's 6 December 2019 contributions, I see that this trial run actually made 22 edits and the extra dozen edits in addition to the 10 reported above were 3 template edits and 9 talk page edits. 8 of 9 talk edits created new pages as indicated by the bold N before the page title on the user contributions list. Still good. The problem is that ninth talk page edit (actually the first edit, chronologically) which contrary to its edit summary (Created talk page: stub class, low importance) didn't actually create a new page but rather edited an existing redirect to add {{WikiProject Insects}} below the redirect. What the bot should have done is replace the redirect with {{WikiProject Insects}}. Now there's a need to remove the redirect, which I just did. If all the trial edits had been reviewed, instead of just the ten article edits, some time and grief could have been spared. I've found apparently dozens of similar bad talk page edits in the course of reviewing User:Wbm1058/Articles with talk page redirects, a database report I created. The bad news is that the last run of this report still found 2616 redirects which would be a lot to work through manually. The good news is that a significant number of them are from edits by this bot run, so they can hopefully be isolated and knocked off by some semi-automated editing. – wbm1058 (talk) 17:42, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have a whole lot of time to review this at the moment, but I'm going to point out WP:BOTISSUE says contact the botop first, and I don't see that you've contacted User:Edibobb about this. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 19:22, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I can fix these using qBugbot. I can get to it sometime in March.

Bob Webster, you're off the hook. I fixed them all using WP:JWB. – wbm1058 (talk) 12:18, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
