doridro.com edit

This is a site that hosts forums which cater to music piracy, and was most recently added to the article Now That's What I Call Music! 79 (UK series), however it has now been removed. Propose that this site be added to the blacklist for copyright concerns, and it definitely passes WP:ELNEVER.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 04:36, 1 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

duanelinklater.com edit

Identical spam has been added to Cape Spear by various IP addresses since April. Page protection is not appropriate because other IPs make legitimate edits, including reverting the spam. The user has been warned (see User talk:66.206.234.192 and various edit summaries) and individual and range blocks have been tried and work only temporarily. blogspot.com is already revertlisted. Maybe this should be blacklisted (or do you want this specific one on the revertlist for references)? --Dirk Beetstra T C 14:44, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

rationalwiki.org edit

Now I'm not trying to start a shit storm with the Wikipedians who are members of RationalWiki by requesting this, but I keep removing RationalWiki as a reference in mainspace articles. This is a problem because other wikis are not considered reliable sources in Wikipedia, especially when you're dealing with the scientific and political articles that I'm seeing people try and use it as a reference for. Personally, I recommend adding blacklisting it where established users are reverted as well as new users so that Wikipedian members of RationalWiki aren't tempted to reference their site in our articles. PCHS-NJROTC (Messages) 01:37, 5 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Done via COIBot. This for now reverts the 'normal' linking (not references). Maybe that should be added as well? I see a lot of regulars using this .. --Dirk Beetstra T C 14:48, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I believe it should be made so that references to the site and links to the site are reverted; I would have suggested the site be added to the spam blacklist, but I was unsure if the site may ever be legitimately linked to; there is a whole section on the Conservapedia article about the RationalWiki's criticism of Conservapedia; I have in the past challenged that, but whenever I do a whole swarm of Wikipedians who are also members of RationalWiki come in to defend the section. That's a matter that I feel needs an uninvolved third party's opinion as I am a Conservapedian myself. Personally, I don't want this to turn into a battle. But as for things not directly related to Conservapedia or RationalWiki, there's absolutely no reason to reference another wiki like RationalWiki. Infowars.com and prisonplanet.com edit

Both of these conspiracy theory sites are frequently used in articles which involve BLP issues, often by new users who don't understand how Wikipedia workds. The sources were discussed here] and I'm here because of my discussion with Moonriddengirl (there are also copyvio issues). Dougweller (talk) 13:51, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've revertlisted this (via COIBot) for now. This reverts normal links, not references, though. If more is needed, I'd like to hear. Otherwise, blacklisting and whitelisting of what is useful may also help - I know it is a bit harsh, but if there are severe problems that is sometimes a better solution. --Dirk Beetstra T C 14:58, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Recently launched fan site for The Elder Scrolls Online. IP editors are repeatedly adding it back to the articles The Elder Scrolls and The Elder Scrolls Online. The original IP used was blocked, but two new IPs have begun adding it today. The IP editors ignore WP:WEB and WP:ELNO by claiming that by being recognized as a fansite by Bethseda (Bethseda posted on twitter a list of new fansites), therefore they have notability.

DylRicho.com edit

Spammed by DylRicho (talk · contribs)

User has already been blocked for COI and spamming, but discussions and repeated unblock requests on his talk page indicate that he simply doesn't get the concept that he cannot spam his own website into Wikipedia articles. Given this refusal to accept the rules and the user's request to change name (WP:UAA was the route to the original block) it seems likely the user will come back under a different name and continue spamming. For that reason it would be good to add the site to this list as a precaution. --Biker Biker (talk) 12:30, 19 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

IP accounts persist in adding the above-noted advertising-laden, unofficial websites. various Kink.com domains edit

In what I have to presume is compensated linking, someone is adding parameterized URLs for Kink.com sites to various plausibly-relevant pages. Uses various SPA's and open proxy IP address, probably a new one for each edit. Examples:

  • Erotic humiliation[14] [15] [16]. Calling this site a "portal" demonstrates bad faith to me.
  • At the time I write this the External links section of the Kink.com article is entirely parameterized.[17]. This state was restored quickly after being removed.[18]

There may be other Kink.com domains, but these are the ones I found on the Kink.com page. Since Kink.com is itself notable (and these sites may become individually notable), my suggestion would be to ban the domainname.com/* rather than the entire domain. A more conservative option might be to block domainname.com/track/*, but I don't know what other links on those sites might be exploitable. / edg 18:06, 2 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I've found about 15 IP's adding these, however they mostly seem to be originating from IP range;
The range has only been used disruptively and as spam only range for the past year, I've blocked. The affiliate tracking spam has been going on for quite some time and since there are no other legitimate uses for these domains, so I've blocked those too. See WikiProject Spam report. Cheers.--Hu12 (talk) 19:26, 2 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
That went better than I expected. Thanks! / edg 02:13, 3 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
These are listed at Kink.com as sites they own. I don't know if I found every one:
I've not checked all this list, but SexandSubmission.com is currently linked as a "portal", so this seems to be the same spammer.
For what it's worth, Kink.com's affiliate referral program forbids "spamming".[19] It might be worth reporting this to support@kink.com / edg 03:01, 3 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I went through them and (as you mentioned), sexandsubmission.com was the only one that seemed to be related to the referral spammer so I've added that one to the blocked lists. --Hu12 (talk) 18:55, 3 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Links originally added to multiple pages by user Jackiinson45 (contribs) [46] [47]. After I reverted these and notified the user, various IP editors have been adding more links to different articles — and deliberatley obscuring the link addition to make the edit appear constructive, often replacing existing legitimate links:

Lots of host1plus-related articles have been deleted due to advertising/COI: Host1plus, Host1Plus, Digital Energy Technologies Ltd, Digital Energy Technologies, Digital Energy Technologies Ltd.

deflem.blogspot.com edit

Please review this discussion: User_talk:MathieuDeflem#Your_changes_to_sources_from_.22www.cas.sc.edu.22_to_.22deflem.blogspot.com.22 MathieuDeflem (talk · contribs) is a university professor whose sociology documents are frequently cited by Wikipedians. For whatever reason, the university that used to host the documents editors were linking to will stop hosting them, and so the author has moved them to his own blogspot site. The author has tried to update the references to his documents to his blogspot site, but of course blogspot is on XLinkBot's blacklist. Can we make an exception to whitelist everything under deflem.blogspot.com? Thanks... Zad68 15:43, 22 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

ausbt.com.au edit

Reliable business traveler magazine. Was reference-blacklisted in 2011 due to IP spam, but that appears to have disappeared. The bot has only made six reverts of this link in 2015 ([48], [49], [50], [51], [52], [53]), and all of the edits were correct uses of this site as a reference.
