Create new bot edit

Would you like to create a bot to maintain this report? It could be quite useful, with the new policy being put into effect. 2601:647:5800:1A1F:889E:96A8:F1A2:A8E7 (talk) 00:50, 24 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

I already have it written as a bit, is just need to set up authorisation. Not sure how useful it would be, will consider WormTT(talk) 10:26, 16 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

How was this table created? edit

Hi WTT, How was this table created? It seems to be updating quite promptly. Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 08:41, 16 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

A bit of Java, implementing the java wiki bot codebase, accessing the WP API, and doing a bit of logic to output the text to a file so I can check it before making the edit manually I can send my code by email if you are interested WormTT(talk) 10:24, 16 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, but Java is outside my comfort zone. I thought it was completely automated as it updated only minutes after I undeleted a draft no it didnt, I misread the date - what you get for editing in the small hours. Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 15:00, 16 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Database report edit

As the new policy being put into effect, could this page be established as a formal database report? —— Eric LiuTalk 13:17, 16 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Ericliu1912 Apologies, I missed this. I believe it should be discussed elsewhere as I'm not familiar with creating such reports. WormTT(talk) 12:15, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

T'other side of the coin edit

Hi WTT, would you be interested in doing a report that looks at the other side of the coin, admins who returned to activity after long absences? For example how many of our currently active administrators have taken a sabbatical of one, two or three years from editing since they became an admin? I think it would help inform decisions if we had a better idea as to whether taking long breaks and then returning to activity was a common, rare or very rare scenario. I've seen people argue that currently inactive admins have no future "value" to the community, which is obviously incorrect, but we don't know how incorrect unless we can start to put some figures on the proportion of past returnees. @WereSpielChequers I'll have a look and see what I can figure out. It's a bit of a different question that I'm not sure my way of working is particularly adapted to, and might better as a database query - will think when I get a chance. WormTT(talk) 12:00, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, much appreciated. ϢereSpielChequers 12:17, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
