Speedy deletion contested: 1927 in Japan

Hello WilliamJE, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of 1927 in Japan, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Contains sufficient content to be a stub. FYI a bunch of other articles(1892 in Brazil, 1895 in Brazil, 1919 in Japan, 1918 in Japan to name a few) by the same editor that only contain links to other articles. They were deleted. 1927 in Japan is no different. All it does is link to other articles so it qualifies for CSD under A3....William 14:08, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Such articles can be expanded with additional information so that they become something like 1920 in Canada. They should not be deleted as long as they contain at least one fact. Eastmain (talk • contribs) 14:15, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Please take note of User:Eastmain's advice to review Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. New York Rangers

I have rolled back your removal of the three lines in the See Also section as these are relevant to the New York Rangers team. Per WP:See also, As a general rule, the 'See also' section should not repeat links that appear in the article's body or its navigation boxes. All of those links that I removed fit those criteria....William 17:34, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Right, I got the message of your reversion and saw your notes this time. I rolled back because you didn't give a reason for your deletion and they were valid additions in the See Also section. It's part my fault because I accidentally left out the edit summary. You could have checked my edit history and saw my recent edits(which had see also mentions) and put 2 and 2 together. No problem. FYI, the author of the article may be the person themselves. This editor who originally created[1] the page was suspected[2] of being the person. That other editor and an IP account[3] I suspect is there own, are heavily involved in editing Johnson and other articles involving Pine City, Minnesota and people associated with that city.

Yes I figured that - that username is the same as his email address. Once I looked into it a bit it became obvious that he is more notable than when the AFD took place, but seemingly for being an LGBT activist more than anything else. William, I only meant to ask you to stop arguing with AutomaticStrikeout on Joe's page. There was even a moment when both of you seemed to be getting off the subject of Joe altogether, and to be quarreling with each other about other things, without any input from Joe. Of course I don't have any wish to interfere if you want to give Joe cookies and such-like! Or just chat with him. Sorry if it sounded like it. People who got blocked sometimes need someone to argue for them. Last month two editors were blocked for edit warring and the admin gave out[5] a longer block to one of them due to his block history[6]. To quote 'I think I counted 8 or 9)'. Niteshift's block log before Sept 2013 consisted of 7 entries, but 3 were either block removals or a wrongly placed block. An administrator was holding things against an editor that he had no right to and somebody needs to speak up and say something when things like that occur. AS taking to ANI to get him indef banned I felt was along the same lines. Early on I suggest AS withdraw the ANI and he refused and then became irrational to the point he told you 'He started the discussion.' Referring to the talk page discussion which clearly was started by when he put up an ANI notice on Joe's page.

Not that the Joe matter is closed, I wish someone would step up to address this matter[7] I put up at ANI. For four years an editor has been been using wikipedia to promote himself, has engaged in sockpuppetry, and practiced WP:OWN. The evidence is damning but nobody wants to put a stop to it....William 12:07, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

We are close to the same age, both well traveled, and both have an interest in the Great Lakes States (me--Michigan and Indiana, altho every trip I have made to Wisc. has been wayyyy cool). I just wanted to point out that the link you cited at the above AfD is actually a link to a failed policy/guideline proposal. The link I cited is the link to the appropriate notability subsection. Instead of whining away here, you should be asking why the article was nominated for speedy deletion. Is Ida Mae McKenzie notable? The only thing you cite her doing in the article is an episode of Perry Mason. The article is also unreferenced. You could have of course linked to Imdb. Then remember Imdb fails is questionable for use as a source. If you accept Imdb, then look at the work of McKenzie. Is there anything notable? Doesn't look like it. She was a bit player. Unless you can come up with a source she wasn't. Your article fails to assert notability of a person and therefore should be speedy deleted under A7....William 14:09, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

I thought you weren't supposed to bite the newcomers????

I just thought I'd let you know that I'm extremely frustrated. I JUST started my very first article about an author (which it says underneath the acceptable subjects in the tutorial is perfectly acceptable). I was still trying to add my references and figure out how to properly edit it when you flagged me three times within the first 3 hours. What the heck? I understand about making this a respectable source...but can't you give me a chance to even finish it before you flag it. You had flagged it within the first 20 minutes of me even putting it up in my userspace, which the tutorial also says is a safer place to EDIT. --Mkfrench (talk) 21:53, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

@Mkfrench: It may be fine for you to create it, but if you fail to provide reliable sources to prove whether the author is notable, it will be at risk of deletion. Also, if you're trying to finish it when it got tagged, you should've "beefed up" the first edit, so it won't be in such a poor condition when people review it. Not a good time right now or waiting for word from Tacloban

Update We haven't heard anything from relatives in Tacloban yet. My youngest brother-in-law, who currently works in Japan, discovered some photos of an area very close to where the house and things don't look horrible but who knows if that's a reliable gauge for the rest of the neighborhood. Someone in the military that we know has flown to Tacloban as part of the relief efforts. We hope to hear something through him....William 19:15, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

I didn't abuse any process. You're the one who didn't do their homework. Did you read the AFD before your statements at ANI? Apparently not. I didn't read the nominator's rationale until late today but your the one with responsibility around here, not me. As an administrator you can see every article and its versions I can't. All I know is when an article was deleted. That's known to anyone around here. If you or any administrator acts improperly its because you didn't do your job and blaming editors for it is totally improper....William 01:45, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

After you were told that the contents were different, you reverted me (see the link I gave you) and retagged the article: that's abuse. You also blamed me for restoring an article that was copied from another one — which I did because nobody told me that it was copied. You never mentioned the fact that it was copied from elsewhere, and being unfamiliar with the situation, I had no reason to expect that it was copied from elsewhere. No I didn't know that. I just said that above. If I had, it would have been the first thing out of my mouth. You know when I learned about the cut and paste? From this comment at the AFD[8]. Then I brought it to your attention ASAP. Why restore the other article, it duplicated the 2016 Formula One Season, when that was still existing at the time? Administrators blaming editors for their mistakes. Your failing to WP:AGF is appalling. Your threats after your own screwups even more so. Your edit summary making false accusations of disruption are even worse. I didn't CSD the article discussed at ANI or even start the AFD. An administrator deleted the other article. I nominated it with the rationale of the first AFD(Nothing more nothing less. Check it! Remember I can't see old versions, only administrators CAN) and the administrator said fine. You have a beef, take it to him or her. The editor only nominates, the administrator does the deleting and their job is to make sure it meets the qualifications. It is also preposterous that the 2016 Formula One season article was restored and I'll tell you why. The one and only reference[9] the article has is that one driver signed a contract to race for a team till 2017. The reference isn't about 2016 Formula One, but a racer's career. By this standard, it would be logical for you or any administrator to uphold a 2021-22 NHL Season if the article's one and only reference[10] was Roberto Luongo being signed for a contract up till then. Don't user pages appear there? This one was moved twice by Deb (wrong title first move - I do that sometimes too...) but no redirect was left either time. It had been up for about an hour. Anyway, if it IS a user page, 'User contributions' will appear in 'tools'. This is a handy instant check for 'fake' user pages, misplaced moves and other oddities - which won't have it there. It's not a bad idea to check the history too, before tagging. BTW Anything starting Benutzer:, Utilisateur:, Usario:, etc need looking into as they are misplaced User: pages by users more used to their native language. Check for User:name and if it isn't there, move the thing. If it is, tag it as a misplaced page G6 or a duplicate A10. Peridon (talk) 14:33, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

I was granted reviewer status without even asking and have only exercised those powers a couple of times. Becoming a reviewer isn't hard for established editor with a solid history(You certainly qualify in my opinion). Just go to WP:Reviewer and read up on the responsibilities if you haven't already. I'm disappointed with you. For the following reasons

You posted a article with absolutely no content. Not even a description.

You posted a article with a See also section with only redlinks when WP:See also is quite clear about no redlinks.

You removed a speedy deletion tag even though WP:Speedy deletion says an article creator can't.

You put the See also section back in after I removed it.

Then after making all four of those mistakes, you come over here to whine about it.

Malik, they have the misspellings that the sockpuppets of Ryan kirkpatrick have. Namely on bored instead of on board. Just leave the G5s on. Hi I moved obituary to external link and added citation to article; this should help.

I saw that already.(I was coming back to put in the Providence newspaper article when I saw you beat me to it.) Obituaries aren't reliable for sourcing. The information is provided by the family, in this case to a funeral home. They can be used for EL, place of death, but not as a main source....William 13:15, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

For A1 and A3 cases, it is best to wait at least 10 minutes, because a newbie often puts in a few words and presses "Save page " to see whether it works; it is discouraging if a deletion notice pops up almost immediately.
