Friendly reminder edit

Just a friendly reminder that there is more to Wikipedia than autographs and user space. I've noticed that since January you've only made a handful of main space edits but hundreds of user and user talk edits, especially dealing with signatures and autographs. Please don't forget that we're here to build an encyclopedia. Thanks, Metros232 21:03, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

VandalProof edit

If you are experiencing a 'User list is corrupt' message, it is because you are not running the latest version of the software.

You should download the latest version (1.35) and ensure you are approved to use it.

Good luck with the vandal fighting! Ale_Jrbtalk 15:26, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

To connect to VandalProof, follow these steps:
 1. Go to http://amidaniel.com/pub/VandalProof/ and click the link for 'VP135_bin.zip' to download it.
 2. Unzip the program to a new folder.
 3. Run the VandalProof.exe file (it may have 1.35 in its name).
 4. You will be shown a 'Connect to VandalProof' box. Click the 'Ch' button.
 5. Enter your username and password and click the 'Login to Wikipedia' button. VandalProof ill log you into Wikipedia.
 6. Click the 'Verify Authorisation' button. The program will start.
Good luck and happy vandal fighting! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. Ale_Jrbtalk 09:36, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I can confirm that the link does work, having checked it for myself. Extracting is the same as unzipping, yes. Ale_Jrbtalk 14:51, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Stop edit

Please do not spam users' talk pages telling them to sign your autograph page. It is against Wikipedia conventions to take such actions and has led to some users being blocked for spamming. Thanks, Metros232 03:22, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

You already have it in your signature, you have it on your user and user talk pages. That's more than enough. Remember, it's an encyclopedia. Autograph pages aren't a big deal. Metros232 03:26, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

An MFD edit

{{helpme}} Please do not place {{helpme}} on your User talk page asking for MfD's to be closed, an admin will come along when the time is necessary, speedy delete does not seem appropriate here as only one suggested this, Helpme is meant for problems Wikipedians have, not for MfD's. hi edit

Hi from ME! Partyhatunicorn 15:26, 9 April 2007 (UTC) Reply

Metros shouldn'tve erased that edit

I had put DO NOT ERASE ABOVE THIS LINE and he did WikiMan53 (talk) (click here) 19:28, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

 • Yeah, he did the same thing to me.. I wrote not to manually edit the page.. he did and he took out my fake message thing and messed up my wikicode too. I went along with it.. but now, as I see he is doing it to other users, I believe he must be stopped. He also is requesting 6 of my user subpages for deletion. He told me he took out the message box, per WP:USER, and there is nothing on the about it. I also saw a MfD about it and the census wasn't reached.. And he is not even discussing it with the user, or asking them to do so.. He just forcefully does it. And the worst part of it is.. he is an admin O_O Domthedude001 20:02, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

{{helpme}} sorry about the rule. Hey is there a way to nominate an admin for DEadminship

No, but you could bring it up at WP:AN/I. Although this doesn't really hold water. John Reaves (talk) 00:05, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
There's no nominating for de-adminship. Usually an admin has to have done something really bad and it has to have a ruling by the arbitration committee. --TeckWiz ParlateContribs@(Lets go Yankees!) 00:05, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Are you really trying to get me desysopped for removing your fake new messages banner? You're going to need a lot more than that to get any admin desysopped. Metros232 00:08, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
WikiMan:I recommend you drop it, any posts to the community will most likely lead to an indefinite block of you since you've yet to contribute to the encyclopedia. John Reaves (talk) 00:10, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Uhh, why exactly did you put something about autograph pages on my user talk page? Metros232 00:46, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't matter where the fake new message box links. It matters that it exists. And please stop activating that quote thing on my user page. Metros232 02:55, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Simulating the Media-wiki interface on your talk page edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on User_talk:WikiMan53. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors. Thank you.

Generally speaking, the three-revert rule does not apply to user talk pages, but in this case, it most likely does. It is clearly against guidelines to put a fake new messages box on the top of your talk page, so please stop reverting other editor's removal of the box. Please review WP:USER for guidelines about what is and isn't appropriate on your user pages. Regards, ➪HiDrNick! 19:50, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Stop, OK. I have asked you before not to place {{helpme}} on your User talk Page just to ask an admin to close an MfD or other XfD debate, it categorises you into Category:Wikipedians looking for help and is unnecessary, it will be closed after 5-7 days providing consensus.Tellyaddict 16:27, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
We don't like to speedy-close AFD/MFD discussions without a good reason. The idea is to get everyone in the community 5 days to voice their opinions. If you don't give it the 5 days, it's is posible someone will cry foul. ---J.S (T/C/WRE) 17:06, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Slightly less friendly reminder edit

Remember, as I said a few threads up, this is an encyclopedia. Please contribute to it. Since my comment to you a few days ago, you've done nothing but focus on user page issues and have been slightly disruptive (including using the help me template over and over to get attention for an MFD to be closed out of process). So, it's time to shape up. Metros232 17:13, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please do not post messages on User Talk Pages as you did with User:J.smith, you seem obssessed with asking sysops to close MfD's so please stop because you may be blocked by an admin if you continue this unacceptable behaviour. Tellyaddict 19:36, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't think Werdnabot is working on my talkpage. Can someone fix the code? WikiMan53 (talk) (click here) make a sig! 14:05, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure if the bot can create pages. I created the archive page for it, so if that was the problem it should start working soon. -- kenb215 talk 16:52, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Why did you rre-add {{helpme}} on your Page it was answered. It will start archving as soon as you add the template and after the time in which you selected is up, so if yo received comments then signed up for automatic archival, it will only do the ones after the template was added. Tellyaddict 18:32, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sorry about that. He didn't re-add it. I didn't take it off when I replied because I wasn't sure about my answer, and didn't what to leave him with just a guess. -- kenb215 talk 18:44, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

MfD edit

A page in which you created for your signature ideas has been listed at WP:MFD to reach consensus on whether to delete it or not, you are free to voice your opinion so we can reach community consensus throughout the next seven days.Tellyaddict 18:39, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

And by the way, this MfD]] was very hipocritical, you previously spammed User talk Pages asking for their autographs at your Autograph book, and you have the cheek to nominate someone elses for deletion and make a personal attack in the process. It seems you are treading on very thin ice. Admins and editors are watching your contribs as it seems your intentions are not good. Tellyaddict 19:37, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

A good way to shorten your sig is to remove this part: (click here) make a sig!. Spamming links to an autograph book is generally frowned upon. It's ironic to try to shorten your sig by lengthening it. –Pomte 22:21, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's not a good idea to have a red link in your sig either. You have not set up an Editor Review for yourself, and until you do, the link is useless. –Pomte 22:55, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
My mistake. You've linked it in your sig incorrectly, missing the "Wikipedia:" bit at the beginning. –Pomte 00:19, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

What's with this warning? edit

Why did you warn this user? It was an edit to the sandbox. In case you don't realize, experiments like the one s/he made in the sandbox are allowed to help users test editing. Metros232 00:52, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just Wondering edit

By the way, there's no need to be reverting people editing in the sandbox. Sandbot will come along and reset it every so often (generally it seems to be operating every 20 minutes or so, unless the header's been knocked out, then it will do it automatically). Your AIV report edit

Hi WikiMan53, I noticed you reported 167.93.112.82 (talk · contribs) twice. However, the user has made only 1 edit today, has received one warning, and has since stopped. We usually don't block users after only 1 edit, unless it's something really bad. Also, we like to see that the user has received a complete set of warnings ({{uw-vandalism1}} all the way to {{uw-vandalism4}}) before blocking, just to give people a chance to stop. Hope that's all OK - feel free to ask me if you're in doubt about anything. Thanks, – Riana 14:40, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The warning was fine. You did good! Just make sure to run through the whole lot before reporting to AIV, just to stay on the safe side. Of course, if it's something really horrible, like personal attacks on other editors, you can report immediately. – Riana 14:53, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, U1 doesn't really cover that sort of thing, as you're not the only one who's edited the page. Things like editor reviews are best kept as a record of user performance, anyway. However, you can always request another editor review. – Riana 15:06, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yep, good work! Blocked for 3 months. – Riana 15:26, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Vandals hating you isn't a bad thing! Keep your chin up (and out of MfDs) and all will be fine. – Riana 15:34, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, it's your own choice obviously, but I would be careful and stay away from MfD just for a little while, say a month. There are other things on Wikipedia worth doing! :) MfD can get a little exasperating at times, so if you stay away for a little while, chances are good that you won't miss it very much :) – Riana 15:39, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Old MfDs are here. – Riana 15:48, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
The helperbots remove blocked users from AIV. Before admins had to remove them manually after blocking; now their job is halved because the bots do it for them. It's really very clever :) – Riana 16:47, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Aww, thanks WikiMan! I'm off to bed now, but if you leave any messages I'll be sure to answer them ASAP. Take care, – Riana 17:00, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hallpriest9 on AIV edit

Thank you for making a report about Hallpriest9 (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. Stop edit

Please don't tell people to delete their user pages (like here). If the MfD's consensus is to delete, then it will be deleted eventually. There is absolutely no need for you to go around telling people to delete their user pages like that.

Reverted attacks. edit

Hi, I do feel that that edit on user talk:maurath should be un-reverted. It was an integral part of our discussion, a just reply to the various things he had said to me, and i strongly disagree that it was enough to be considered an 'attack'. Quote: "cry me a river". Is this preschool? If it is to be removed, then I ask that all of our (maurath's included) discussion be removed from our talk pages and the talk page of trivium (band). Thank you. Thank you edit

Thanks for the award, WikiMan, it's very kind of you! Just a quick note to be careful with things like AIV and MFD, and reverting people's user talk pages - when it comes to interaction with other users, it's best to be safe and give people fairly wide license, unless they're doing something pretty horrible. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions about this. Take care, – Riana 13:36, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why do you want to leave? The best way to enjoy something is to learn more about it, after all. Thank you for making a report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Also, remember that POV disputes don't fall into the blocking category. If you are having problems with a particular editor, try to work it out (possibly asking other editors with similar views for help) or, if that fails, request arbitration. wrp103 (Bill Pringle) (Talk) 13:52, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

That might be so, but to request a block at WP:AIV, it must be based on vandalism. It is also important that they receive the necessary warnings before requesting a block. Also, before you create a userbox, please check to see if the userbox has been created. There are many which have been transcluded to userspace Real96 20:05, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
In my opinion, choose a color that you like (you seem to like purple), and make the signature like [[User:WikiMan53|WikiMan53]] or something to that effect. Cheers. Real96 20:22, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh please? Can you give me a step by step? I looked at the userbox page

No, see above. Or pester Gracenotes. Real96 22:04, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fix your signature NOW edit

You need to fix your signature right now. Your signature is screwing up the formatting of pages, see this edit for an example. Everything in that page turned blue below your signature. Please take this as your final warning as well. If you continue to cause disruptions through things like this (signatures, userboxes, misuses of VandalProof, etc.) you will be blocked from editing.
