Thank you. I'm glad to have the contributions from other people who know what they are doing, particularly those with a different international perspective. I'm going to keep watch over the page to try to make sure craziness doesn't get inserted and I welcome you to do the same. So far, I have avoided placing wikilinks to articles that don't exist, with a minor exception here or there if I have plans to write such an article. We could wikilink every name on the list, but I think that will look ugly. Writing an article about each person on the list also seems like an impossibility, so best not to advertise that as a probability. In statistical lists sometimes all placenames are wikilinked. It looks rather ugly, it's up to you to decide. And when you do not like some of my additions: throw them away! I do not know which Eugene it is...

If you ever see a Eugene related to Track and Field, it is Eugene, Oregon. Even though it is a relatively small city, it is the mecca of Track and Field in the USA. We've had many national championships and world meets there. The crowds there love the sport like nowhere else, so we keep going back. Everywhere else, save the Penn Relays (where the crowd is full of Jamaicans, our sport is begging to find enough fans to put in the stadium. We had the Adidas Classic here in Los Angeles, second largest metropolitan area in the USA, 17 million people. Their ticket sales were around 1,000 from the regular American track fans. Then they added Ana Guevara during her prime. The Mrxican fans packed the stadium to see their national hero run. The American fan is almost non-existent. Record progressions

Yes. I'm realizing how many names, the history of our sport, are being pushed out of recognition by new record updates. Even before Ken came out with his article, I was preparing to do Irene Obera. Well by current records, it would look to the crowd who likes to delete Wikipedia articles, that all she had was a piece of a relay record. She wouldn't even be notable. But she held every sprint record in every division she was in, most of them for ten years. Wikipedia is not just about the recent history. So I've thought this has been needed for a long time, I've just started compiling the data, mostly deduced from masterathletics.net though each incomplete item sends me chasing into other holes. I do not know the European people and places nearly as well as I know US sources. So I welcome you filling in any blanks or doing any progressions you want to. Thank you. I know there are holes in Martin's lists, the M35 100m had 4 improvements I found because there are parallel lists that overlap that division. Most divisions don't overlap in IAAF lists. In short, there is nothing proprietary about what I am doing. Please feel free to add to any information I have posted, or just start your own in areas you know better than anybody (certainly high jump) go ahead and make your own. Hello, I just created the List of european records in masters athletics. I didn't really want to do this now, but another editor (Dutch by the way) forced my hand. So now that it exists, I'll have to start by removing the non-European names from the world record article from which this was originally copied, then I'll update with the correct European records. This content is much more your territory. You know what you are doing here, far more than me. I know it will be a lot of work, though it also has been needed. So deal with this at your leisure. Reply to Combine progressions

It might be easier to maintain. When I built the original pages per age group, it was easier for both me and I think the reader to stay with focused information. You are not the first to make such a suggestion, others with far less knowledge about the sport pushed the same thing. I argued against it, feeling it diminishes each age group achievement when lumped together onto a multiple page as you have constructed. But hey, I'm just one person, one vote. We go with the flow here. If you think it makes the presentation better, go ahead. Make it better. I also avoided red linked people unless I had plans and information to write an article about them. I think I have found most former Olympians and open world class people, but I don't know the rest of the players, particularly your expertise with European athletes. If you have the information about them and can write articles, or provide me information, we can always make it better by telling more of the story. By the way, one athlete I suspect you might know some information about, Weia Reinboud, might be a good place to start. Maybe it wouldn't be appropriate for you to write about her WP:COI, but I can if I had "sources" to work with. Point me in the right direction. Trackinfo (talk) 20:11, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

I think we can use this. I don't think we need the large wikilinkling, rather we can adapt the small ones. I'll show you how on the page. And think it would be a (probably unattainable) goal to try to turn all the names on these progressions into blue links. I don't want to invade your privacy, I just thought it would be good to add information about a world record holding high jumper you might be familiar with. If there are any articles written in Dutch, I can use google translate, though my past experience was it was kind of hinkey with Dutch. It would be a very big project to have pages for all record holders. Maybe it is doable when pages are kept very simple.

I have included all records from paper sources (situation at the beginning of every year from 1996 on). For the high jump I have a bit more in excel, but unfortunately I have never thought of keeping track of the progression, otherwise it would have been complete from 1997 on... Maybe at the top a note should be added about the indoor records and about the fact that not all of the records shown have reached official status. Are you willing to do that? I'm not sure what you are asking for here. Indoor records are another giant ball of wax I have not started. Its just so massive a project all at once. Cross records from indoor to outdoor have not been accepted, despite the IAAF rule. I don't know of an exception in WMA rules, but none have been approved. Since it is political, its a bit difficult to find a sufficiently wikipedia neutral way to say the administrators of these records have done a poor job. In short, I just do what is possible from the information I have and keep trying to research what I can find. We have Mastershistory.com which has much more information than I have the time to read. I prefer the directed links within the larger article. I put them in with the new article link to show you what I mean. I also left your progression at the top but cleaned up the awkward wording.
