CSD notification

The page Bellingham International Railroad looks like it may be a valid CSD, but I prefer not to delete a page unless the creator has been notified. I understand that sometimes automated tools fail to do the notification for some reason. Not sure if that was the case, but could you make the notification?SPhilbrickT 15:35, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, I simply forgot. I'll do it. wctaiwan (talk) 15:41, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, now deleted. Too bad, it sounded interesting.--SPhilbrickT 15:54, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Patrolling new pages

Hi Wctaiwan, and thank you for patrolling new pages - it's our first defence against spam, vandalism, nonsense, and other inappropriate pages. To be sure that you are applying our most recent policy changes, please take a moment to read these updated pages:

It's a lot to read but it will help towards our current drive to improve page patrolling. Happy editing! --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:15, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the links. I assume this resulted from my nomination of high schools at AfD--I was unaware of WP:NHS before, and while I still disagree with it, I will not nominate such articles for deletion again unless consensus changes. Thanks again. wctaiwan (talk) 08:34, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
New page patrolling is in a very poor state and is the subject of discussion at MediaWiki. When the new article creation policy goes into effect in a couple of weeks, page patrolling will need to adopt much higher standards of accuracy. Wikipedia guidelines and essays, although not policy, should be generally followed; they are interpretations of existing policy and established precedent, and are generally easier for most people to read than our legalese. Currently, the only patrollers who are sending school pages to AfD are those who are not aware of the special instructions. That is why it is essential for patrollers to be aware of policies, guidelines, and essays. You can help: notify the new, new page patrollers who are still refusing to read the instructions - some are now being aasked to rfrain from patrolling new pages. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:45, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Notability (high schools)

Hi, I have replied to your concerns on this page but if I have missed any please let me know and I should be delighted to help. I do understand where you are coming from. Schools notability has been debated relentlessly over the years. Because passions run high, on both sides of the debate, much effort has been expended in debate with consensus never being reached and I see no chance of a fresh discussion making any further progress. For the last couple of years there has been a de facto truce between the schools inclusionists and deletionists; high schools are generally taken as being notable and elementary schools, generally but not always, are taken to be non-notable. Though this is not specified in a guideline it has proved to be a workable arrangement. What everyone, on both sides of the debate, want to avoid, is fighting every school through AfD; life is too short and I, for one, would rather spend the time improving the articles. HTH. I have responded at the talk page of the essay. Thanks. wctaiwan (talk) 09:53, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of NetGPad

Hello, first of all I wish to thank you for seeing my article: NetGPad. You have delete it. I think you should not do it, because it it not an advetisement of any software, I have write an article to WikiPedia of people knowledge. Please do not delete it. NetGPad is a free software, and there are many poeples are using it in India and abroad too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nileshbandhiya (talkcontribs) 05:13, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

As I detailed on your talk page, I feel that Wikipedia should not have an article on the software because it is not notable enough. While I don't doubt your intention is good, Wikipedia has certain rules on whether something can have an article in order to make sure our information is accurate and not indiscriminate. Please read my explanation, and give your opinion at the deletion discussion if you still disagree. wctaiwan (talk) 05:31, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Naming of Beijing subway stations

您好,北京的朋友告訴我,北京規劃設計時地鐵站的名字往往都是暫時的,建成後很可能會把“老城區站”改名為“房山城關”一類的名字,既然並非正式名稱,對於英文的命名一般用拼音即可。--Ben.MQ (talk) 16:01, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Architecture of the Song Dynasty placed for GAN

I have done some last minute cleanup and placed Architecture of the Song Dynasty up at GAN. I have taken the liberty of adding you and NickDupree as nominators, since both of you deserve more credit than I do for this one. If you object to being listed as a nominator, please let me know. (I wasn't sure how else to do it so that you two would be on record for making this happen.)

Thanks for everything, Sven Manguard Wha? 08:51, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, though I'm not sure I actually deserve much credit. wctaiwan (talk) 11:46, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
You were our translator. It wouldn't have gotten done without you. Sven Manguard Wha? 12:08, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
