Sorry I accidentally reverted you. I was looking at marathon-related things and somehow that happened. My bad! StringTheory11 (t • c) 02:22, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Duplicate coordinates

Thanks for updating coordinates in infoboxes. While you are moving through pages, take a quick look for duplicate coord templates, like this one. If that is too much hassle, you could periodically check Category:Pages with malformed coordinate tags to see if you missed any. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:29, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

I did notice them, but they weren't being used by the infobox as parameter 3 isn't used if the coordinates or even lattitude/longitude were specified. I think it might be worth another look at all those though to get rid of the numbered parameters as it seems a bit too error prone using them. -- WOSlinker (talk) 20:48, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

Football manager history - nowrap

Hi there. Is it possible for you to add the nowrapitems = yes parameter to football manager history navboxes (i.e. to everything inside this category)? Thanks in advance! --BlameRuiner (talk) 14:21, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

This edit should do it. -- WOSlinker (talk) 17:18, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

"remove old coord params" edits

Thank you for cleaning up those old coord params in various infoboxes. Much appreciated. Could I make a request though? Could you mark those edits as "minor" edits when you make them? Otherwise when you do a long series of them like you recently did, it clutters up other people's watchlists. That makes it harder for those of us looking for vandalism. Since these edits have no effect on the visible form of the article, I think they clearly qualify as "minor". Thanks! --Krelnik (talk) 14:37, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

Volcanoes in Columbia

The change you made here has caused Template:Volcanoes in Colombia, along with the articles transcluding it, to pop up in Category:Pages with malformed coordinate tags. I don't know enough about the intricacies of template syntax to spot what the problem is; could you look into the problem? Deor (talk) 15:39, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. One of the lat_sec params was 77, which as wrong as they can't be over 60. I've now fixed it. -- WOSlinker (talk) 15:57, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

This has stopped the Alt working.REVUpminster (talk) 15:53, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

The description on the image on Duel with a Stranger is begin used as a title rather than an alt parmameter, so it would probably be better in that case to just remove the Alt= part. -- WOSlinker (talk) 16:11, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
Images should have an alt for those who cannot see the image. The small alt works in infobox television but does not seem to work elsewhere. A syntax error??? Above my pay grade.REVUpminster (talk) 18:18, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Coordinates in the Infobox oil field

Hi :WOSlinker. Thank you for removing from the articles including the template:infobox oil field the obsolete coordinates parameters. However, I discovered that in same cases the new | coordinates = field was not added to the infobox. Could you please to check your edits on these infoboxes and add the missing parameter )even in the case when coordinates are not included yet). Thank you in advance. Invitation to Admin confidence survey

Hello,

Beginning in September 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Anti-harassment tool team will be conducting a survey to gauge how well tools, training, and information exists to assist English Wikipedia administrators in recognizing and mitigating things like sockpuppetry, vandalism, and harassment.

The survey should only take 5 minutes, and your individual response will not be made public. This survey will be integral for our team to determine how to better support administrators.

To take the survey sign up here and we will send you a link to the form.

We really appreciate your input!

Please let us know if you wish to opt-out of all massmessage mailings from the Anti-harassment tools team.

Use case?

What's a legit use case of Template:Infobox person passing a blank parameter value?  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  09:37, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

There isn't really a legit use case, but there are articles around using the template and passing over a blank name value. Without the #if statement in the template, those articles would not show a title for the infobox. I can't point you at an article right now as it's difficult to search to find them. But if you wanted to see them, a tracking category could be added to locate them. -- WOSlinker (talk) 11:59, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

Edits to my sandbox

I don't think it's appropriate for you to have edited my page at User:D'Ranged 1/parameter naming sandbox2. It's not used in any article pages; the only things that link to it are testcase pages that are long obsolete. I'll be asking that they all be deleted. If a similar situation arises in the future, please leave a note on my Talk Page with your concerns. Thanks.—D'Ranged 1 | VTalk : 10:38, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

I was tidying up some template pages and it was used on one of those, so it got editied as well. If you don't want people editing your userpages then don't include them on pages in other namespaces. -- WOSlinker (talk) 14:49, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
They were all template sandboxes and template testpages that I created years ago for my own use in testing new parameters for templates. No one else should be using the template sandboxes and template testpages that I created, as doing so would wreck my tests. That's why they were numbered and the bulk of the template sandbox was created in my user space. If they were linked to active template pages, that's incorrect and they have now all been deleted. —D'Ranged 1 | VTalk : 20:44, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

Why HTML for italics?

MOS:ITALIC clearly states that two single quote marks are to be used for italic formatting. Why are you replacing that recommended format with HTML ... formatting? In my experience, you are an excellent template editor, well above my level, but these edits are confusing me. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:49, 15 October 2017 (UTC)

@Jonesey95: If the lang templates are used within a sequence of text that is already inside italics then using the wiki style for italics in the template would switch off the italics for the lang section. However using the html style for setting italics would mean that it would not be switched off.
For example:
Template style Code Result
Wiki style ''text inside italics with {{User:WOSlinker/lang-wiki|lang part}} also included'' text inside italics with lang part also included
Html style ''text inside italics with {{User:WOSlinker/lang-html|lang part}} also included'' text inside italics with lang part also included
Wiki style text without italics with {{User:WOSlinker/lang-wiki|lang part}} as well text without italics with lang part as well
Html style text without italics with {{User:WOSlinker/lang-html|lang part}} as well text without italics with lang part as well
Hope this explains it. -- WOSlinker (talk) 15:32, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
When an italicized phrase is used inside of a longer italicized phrase, it should normally be reversed (i.e. plain text) to show that there is a change. See, for example, "double italics" in this style guide. I believe that the wiki style (above) was correct. Another example, from the widely-used CS1 citation templates:
Author (2017). A book about Another book. Publisher. {{cite book}}: |author= has generic name (help)
I think the original formatting was correct. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:17, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
Agreeing with Jonesey95: italicising a word or phrase inside a longer stretch of italics text should make that word or phrase appear in roman style, otherwise its semantic content is lost (and italics are used primarily to indicate various forms of semantic contrast, unlike for example bolding, whose uses mostly have to do with visual appearance). – Uanfala 10:59, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

Large linter edit runs

Hello WOSlinker, for large runs of repetitive edits why are you running these on your main account instead of using a bot account? Good day! Why do we use italics in this template, but not in others? Take a look: Uzbek: Oʻzbek gimnaziyasi/Ўзбек гимназияси; Russian: Узбекская гимназия; Kyrgyz: Өзбек гимназиясы. Only the uz template uses italics. Can you change it so that it does't? I think these templates should be uniform. Many thanks! Nataev talk 10:12, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

Fixing center tags

Hi, WOSlinker. I notice that recently you've been making a lot of edits with the summary "fix center tags". In these edits you are adding the closing
tags to articles where it is missing.

According to Help:HTML in wikitext,
...
is obsolete; the recommended replacement is the {{center}} template, which uses CSS. Can I suggest refocusing your efforts to replace the
...
tag with this template instead of just inserting the closing tag? —Bkell (talk) 01:20, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

Yes, I'm aware of that. It's a job for another time though. It's easier to add the closing tag rather than having to add the css text-align:center or using the center template. That can be done by someone else. -- WOSlinker (talk) 09:34, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

Userboxes

Your change to User:UserboxMania/DayName appears to have broken the alignment of userboxes on my user page. They were all in a column to the right before your change. SpinningSpark 15:50, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Spinningspark, I've undone the changes to that userbox now, and as you can see on your page, the layout is still the same, so that change was not the issue. -- WOSlinker (talk) 15:54, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
It's definitely that userbox. I've removed it from my page and the formatting is back to normal. And I'm sure it happened very recently, so I don't know what's going on. SpinningSpark 16:02, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
Spinningspark, it's not any changes I've done, as I undone them. It's probably due to the new Remex rendering engine that Wikipedia is now using, see Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)#Remex:_My_page_is_recently_broken_and_I_can't_figure_out_why -- WOSlinker (talk) 16:07, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
Ok, put your changes back. That userbox was wrapped in a table to get the borders right. If I just take out that bit and put the userbox in straight there is no problem. But I still can't fix it with the border on. I'll report it on the VP page you linked. SpinningSpark 16:17, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Hypergnoming

Why are so many WOS link edits appearing on very old pages, eg https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Requests_for_bureaucratship/Juliancolton_2&curid=25559243&diff=850442083&oldid=849677250

Is this fixing something that was broken? Are new browsers not backward compatible? If not fixing an actual problem, I think you should leave old pages alone. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 01:35, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Yes, I'm fixing an issue. In history, compare the current revision to the previous revision. Scroll down to the end of the page and you'll see the issue with the font. -- WOSlinker (talk) 06:28, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
Maybe you should let a bot handle those edits? That way they could be hidden with the bot-flag and wouldn't pollute watchlists. Regards SoWhy 09:08, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
And yes, these are noticeable and concerning, because ne'er-do-wells would love to rewrite history (and old pages). My notice was attracted by this, where you were fixing .... to be the more correct ..... Looking at that makes me wonder if you are responding to or know about the Special:LintErrors project? If so, then a more explicit (and reassuring) edit summary than "u fix" would be nice. When touching sensitive pages a better edit summary is definitely needed. Shenme (talk) 06:27, 21 July 2018 (UTC)

Request to change the parent of Tetrapoda to Stegocephalia

Hello, I've recently found out that you have the credentials for editing Template:Taxonomy/Tetrapoda based on an edit you made on October 19, 2013. May I request that you change the "parent" from Teleostomi to Stegocephalia? Many important taxonomical levels are skipped if Teleostomi is retained as a parent, but using Stegocephalia as a parent was not possible until recently. Changing the parent to Stegocephalia would normally have created a rank conflict due to forcing Superclass Tetrapoda to be a component of Superclass Osteichthyes. However, I recently edited Template:Taxonomy/Sarcopterygii in a way that would allow Tetrapoda to fall under the cladistic alternative to Osteichthys, namely Euteleostomi. The last step would be to edit the taxonomy template of Tetrapoda itself, but alas this is not possible for people apart from template editors or administrators. Which is why I am asking if you could fulfill this step, or even derank the protection so that other auto-confirmed editors are allowed to edit the template. Fanboyphilosopher (talk) 03:07, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

I've made that change. -- WOSlinker (talk) 07:36, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

What I don't understand is why one user gets to hold this whole process up? --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 01:29, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
That's the way it goes sometimes. Some people are willing to die on their particular hill. Let it ride. When there is only one transclusion of Geobox left, it will be easy to deal with, one way or another. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:26, 10 November 2018 (UTC)

My point though is that this user seems to pride himself on his violations of WP:OWN... He is forcing changes to be made to the {{Infobox settlement}} by throwing a temper-tantrum and blocking any forward process on the page. --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 07:01, 10 November 2018 (UTC)

Main space pages with lots of Linter errors

In case it interests you, there is a page listing the main space pages with the most Linter errors at User:Galobot/report/Articles by Lint Errors. It is refreshed once a day. I have found it quite satisfying to work on these pages, and many of the error fixes are scriptable. My replacement regular expressions (which do not work correctly 100% of the time and need to be manually checked) are at User:Jonesey95/AutoEd/doi.js. – Jonesey95 (talk) 09:41, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

Great Canadian Railroad Journeys moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Great Canadian Railroad Journeys, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 13:37, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Great Canadian Railroad Journeys title.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Great Canadian Railroad Journeys title.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:43, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

Bot at my talk page archive

Could you please make WOSlinker Bot leave User talk:Tryptofish/Archive 34 alone? Thanks. --Tryptofish (talk) 19:15, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

I fixed the archive again. Please accept that correcting broken HTML is a useful service and no one owns any page. Johnuniq (talk) 00:21, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
You have got to be kidding. Don't do that again. --Tryptofish (talk) 00:23, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
What possible objection would you have for someone fixing broken HTML on a page at Wikipedia? It happens frequently. There should be no reason to regard it as an affront. Johnuniq (talk) 00:30, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
Because, among other things, you were fixing it the wrong way – that is, changing the intended font size of the editors who were commenting. I just fixed it for real. WP:TPO --Tryptofish (talk) 00:38, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
Tryptofish: This is a good news / bad news situation. The good news is that you fixed the problem (small tags can't wrap multiple lines in the new Linter era). The bad news is that there are still 71 lint errors on that page. Let me know if you would like me to try to fix all of them at once so that you can be done with bot visits for a while. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:47, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
Your page may not have looked excatly like it does now as it did a year ago since some of the software that processed the pages and automatically fixed some of the html errors has changed. Hence why there are these lint error reports now. For example look at the small tags at User_talk:Duja/Archive_4. Before and After the bot fixes (scroll to the bottom of the page and see the font size). -- WOSlinker (talk) 09:27, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
Jonesy95 and WOSlinker, thank you for these comments. I just looked at the archive page, and it seems to me to look OK in terms of font sizes, although I realize that there are underlying problems (with some user signatures, I assume, or maybe with some "small" tags that went over multiple lines). If anyone wants to fix it manually, please feel free to do so, with my sincere thanks, but please also make sure that you preserve where editors deliberately put their comments in smaller (and smaller) font. It's not like anything on a user talk page archive was breaking Wikipedia, after all. And when I first asked here, I sure wish someone had simply discussed it with me, instead of "fixing" it in the same way that I had already said was of concern to me. By the way, I see that the bot does not recognize the "nobots" template, and maybe it should. --Tryptofish (talk) 00:04, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
I have fixed all of the high and medium priority Linter errors on that page, and some of the low-priority errors. I tend to leave most obsolete tags (font and center tags) unprocessed since they do not have any visual problems now and replacing them is not a simple one-for-one swap with new code. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:40, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
Thanks very much for that. It was quite an edit, must have been a lot of work, so thanks indeed! --Tryptofish (talk) 22:26, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Signature to fix (6,000 pages)

This search shows almost 6,000 pages with the same signature containing misnested tags, if that is something that interests you. I fixed about 250 of them in template (DYK) space, but 6,000, even with AutoEd, is too much for me. Also pinging Ahecht. There are two patterns and fixes that I know of. I'm using this replacement with AutoEd:

 str = str.replace(/\'\'\'Sven Manguard\'\'\'/gi, '\'\'\'Sven Manguard\'\'\'');

 str = str.replace(/\'\'\'Sven Manguard\'\'\'/gi, '\'\'\'Sven Manguard\'\'\'');

I have more individual signatures listed near the top of User:Jonesey95/AutoEd/doi.js, and some other font tag replacements (for tidy font link errors and general font tag replacement) listed in the "font wrapping" section and subsequent sections. I have never seen a false positive from any of these patterns; I tend to run my regexes conservatively, because I don't like cleaning up my own messes. – Jonesey95 (talk) 06:52, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

I'll have a look at some point but have got these to do first. -- WOSlinker (talk) 07:43, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

User:UBX/CanLearnALot breaking transclusion

Hi, not sure if your recent update with User:UBX/CanLearnALot broke the userbox transclusion. Can you assist in checking it out? If the userbox is placed last in the transclusion, it will result in improper formatting on the user page itself. You can check it out in an old revision of my user page. Thanks robertsky (talk) 00:39, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

When editing that userbox, I removed a blank line at the end of it. On your page you had {{Userboxbottom}} straight after the userboxes. It should be on a separate line. This fixes the issue. -- WOSlinker (talk) 08:29, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

Trying to institute automatic-archiving on an article talkpage....help?

I noticed you've done some archiving help on this page in the past and was wondering if you could take a look and tell me how to fix it. (Yeah, I know you could probably do it quicker but I'd like to learn the *how*...) Anyway, the page is Talk:Mountain Meadows Massacre which every so often seems to get quite a few posts & threads. I have now set up auto-archiving but am puzzled about how to make the Archive #s appear in the talkpage header, like at Talk: George Washington. Any coding-help/info greatly appreciated. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 00:17, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

All the archive pages had a lower case M for the massacre, for example: Talk:Mountain_Meadows_massacre/Archive_4. I've now move them to match the casing as per the main talk page and the links are showing up now. -- WOSlinker (talk) 13:04, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
Oh. Well DUH on me. Heh I would have been happy to have fixed it myself but thanks for the explanation & the fix. Cheers, Shearonink (talk) 13:49, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

ArbCom 2019 special circular

Administrators must secure their accounts

The Arbitration Committee may require a new RfA if your account is compromised.

This message was sent to all administrators following a recent motion. Thank you for your attention. For the Arbitration Committee, Cameron11598 02:40, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Why is this template protected indefinitely? This is a problem because it isn't working. As you can see from the main template. Charles Essie (talk) 20:43, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Template:WPBannerMeta

Hello WLer, I understand from the response to my post over at WP:VPT that you are one of the experts in all things {{WPBannerMeta}}. My question is this: I know by adding the /inactive suffix, one can reflect that a stand-alone WikiProject is inactive, such as {{WikiProject The Supremes}}. But is there similar code that will show a WikiProject (or task force) as inactive when it is part of a larger, still active project? For example, how can we show the Transport in Scotland project as inactive in {{WikiProject Trains}}? (seems would be better than just deleting the subproject code completely). Can we just add a TF_x_Status = inactive parameter to the {{WPBannerMeta}} code? Thanks in advance for your help! UnitedStatesian (talk) 16:13, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

It might be worth adding a status param for taskforces at some point, but for now you could do it by using the TF_x_TEXT param, as I have done in the sandbox. -- WOSlinker (talk) 19:14, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, that will work great. Best, UnitedStatesian (talk) 19:52, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

Small and big

I've seen more than one user or article talk page corrupted by an unterminated, or incorrectly terminated, tag. Does your bot handle that? Maybe it simply hadn't visited, yet. I suppose it could check for a the same time, but I've never seen a corrupted page due to that; perhaps because it's used a lot less. P.S., If it already does so, my apologies; I searched the archives, but the search function apparently skips the angle brackets, and returned tons of pages with small on them. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 00:59, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) There are millions of unclosed tags. Some of them cause trouble; most do not. They are pretty tricky for bots to fix, unfortunately. You can see a list of affected pages at Special:LintErrors/missing-end-tag. And here's how to search for tags. – Jonesey95 (talk) 04:32, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
I've mainly done tags in signatures and automated postings to talk pages where it's easier to find a pattern and then fix all pages with a similar pattern. If you've got any examples, I can have a look if the fixing can be automated in those cases. -- WOSlinker (talk) 08:40, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Template:User-multi/

I'm wondering why you permanently fully protected this redirect. Is or was it used indirectly or is it actually unused? ‑‑Trialpears (talk) 10:40, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

It must have been in use at the time, but no longer is, so I've unprotected it. -- WOSlinker (talk) 12:52, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Cheers

Damon Runyon's short story "Dancing Dan's Christmas" is a fun read if you have the time. Right from the start it extols the virtues of the hot Tom and Jerry

This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

No matter what concoction is your favorite to imbibe during this festive season I would like to toast you with it and to thank you for all your work here at the 'pedia this past year. Best wishes for your 2020 as well WOS. MarnetteD|Talk 17:26, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

A search for center tags in Template space, in case you're interested

I've been playing with options for insource searches, and I just finished clearing out font tags from Template space (pretty much). Here's a search for center tags in Template space. Currently 839 hits, but it includes sandboxes, testcases, and doc pages, which can be ignored for now. – Jonesey95 (talk) 06:10, 14 February 2020 (UTC)

Now down to 757 hits. I fixed almost every template with 20+ transclusions. I mostly ignored sandboxes, testcases, and doc pages. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:42, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

Infobox improvements

I noticed at Template:Infobox skating event that you followed up my edit with Special:Diff/856666140. I think this approach solves the problem of infobox3col instances that I have repeatedly been running into, as I've been looking at the issues raised at Category talk:Articles which use infobox templates with no data rows#Categorisation. I'm waiting to see if your changes remove these skating articles from the big "no data rows" list, but I'd like to apply your approach whenever I run into infobox3cols (assuming you haven't already done them). — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs)

Your draft article, Draft:Great Canadian Railroad Journeys

Hello, WOSlinker. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Great Canadian Railroad Journeys".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Importance templates

Please stop adding these without checking the categories first. They are populating many category redirects and so have to be removed. Timrollpickering (talk) 09:44, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

Links to Dispenser tools

Hello. I see that you have removed external links to several useful tools made available by Dispenser. I am hoping that the tools will reappear shortly, either at info.tm or elsewhere. Meanwhile, the tools can be accessed via their IP address. Are you planning to reinstate the links? Certes (talk) 15:53, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Query - Template:Party name with colour

Hey WOSlinker. Just a quick question if you can help! I am *terrible* at tables with anything more complicated than a few rows so I'm trying to teach myself a few things. I just wondered if you knew if the template "Party name with colour" could span over rowspan="2" or greater? I have my first column as 2 rows, which is great, but would love the final column to do the same, only it's using {{Party colour with...}} and seems to break on every attempt. Would you know, or have any person I could ask if not, whether this is possible?

This is what I'm doing at the moment:

Date By-election Winning party Losing party
7 November 1991 1991 Kincardine and Deeside by-election Liberal Democrats Conservative
1991 Langbaurgh by-election Labour Conservative

Many thanks for any help or direction :) doktorb wordsdeeds 18:42, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) The template has no documentation, but it takes a |rowspan= parameter:
Date By-election Winning party Losing party
7 November 1991 1991 Kincardine and Deeside by-election Liberal Democrats Conservative
1991 Langbaurgh by-election Labour
Doktorbuk, is that what you wanted? – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:44, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
Jonesey95, that is exactly what I wanted! You are a star, thanks for the help. doktorb wordsdeeds 20:56, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Remove center tag

Hello, unsure if you are doing this manually or by script but there appears to be a problem with this edit in that it left

which should have been removed along with the tags removed. Keith D (talk) 11:01, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Just doing it manually. Thanks for fixing. -- WOSlinker (talk) 11:22, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
