Fair use rationale for File:How people got fire tish.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:How people got fire tish.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:06, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

That was a promotional still from the website for the film. They are used all over this site. Is the Non-free film screenshot tag correct? Trilliumz (talk) 23:52, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

File:How people got fire tish.jpg edit

I've restored this per your request at WP:REFUND. I will give you 24 hours to provide a valid fair-use rationale. The reason it was deleted was because there was no rationale explaining why its use was permitted under WP:NFCC (CSD F6), so I'm giving you 24 hours to add one. Earl Best and Newark people edit

The Earl Best article is nicely done and would be an excellent candidate for DYK. Can I remind you that when adding entries to articles like List of Newark, New Jersey people as in this edit that you include appropriate sources in the list, ideally ones already included in the original article. Again, nicely done on the article about Best. Alansohn (talk) 03:44, 24 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for encouragement and adding the cite. Wouldn't have tried for a DYK otherwise! Trilliumz (talk) 16:34, 24 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
With all of the negative press that Newark so regularly receives, Best is an example of someone who could have easily fallen back into the world he had left, but instead chose to follow a far more positive and constructive path. His is a wonderful story that other should know about, and DYK is an excellent venue. My only general suggestion is that it looks like there needs to be an article about street ministry to correspond to the category and to better explain the practice. Keep it up! DYK nomination of Earl Best edit

Hello! Your submission of Earl Best at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Hello, Trilliumz. I'd like to apologize for accidentally removing {{Template talk:Did you know/Earl Best}} from T:TDYK by mistake. I have just restored it to T:TDYK. The nomination should get evaluated with the rest of the noms on T:TDYK and moved to queue as usual. Sorry for the inconvenience and delay caused. Hope this helps. --PFHLai (talk) 03:34, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Trilliumz, greetings from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, on my way to Wikimania in Haifa. I spent about an hour yesterday and figured out that the entry had accidentally been removed from the queue. I agree with you that one source per paragraph is enough in most cases, but for DYK the standards are raised and the insistence is that there be a source to support every statement in the hook. I made those changes and the article is being reviewed. I will keep an eye on it, but I think that it will go smoothly from here. I hope this helps, but let me know if you need any more assistance. Keep up the great work! Alansohn (talk) 14:21, 1 August 2011 (UTC)DReply
I have reviewed the article and have a small comment. Could you see T:TDYK and reply there? Thanks. Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:53, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Can't find your comment or the article. This is awfully confusing. Could some of you more experienced people help fix whatever needs to be fixed here? Trilliumz (talk) 12:20, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well, your nomination is here. My comments (I've commented again) are there. Don't worry though, Alansohn fixed the problems I identified and I have approved the article. Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:41, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks to Crisco 1492 for the approval, which must have come moments after I edited the article, and to all those who helped resolve this issue. Trilliumz, this is a new article that should represent Wikipedia well on the front page and I hope that you will create more. Please feel free to contact me if I can help with any DYK-eligible articles or any other issue, and my hope is that you will soon be comfortable nominating articles for DYK and becoming familiar with the sourcing requirements there. Congratulations! Alansohn (talk) 12:46, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for help, and one more thing: it's sitting in Category:Passed DYK nominations from July 2001 instead of July 2011. Does this need to be fixed to proceed? Trilliumz (talk) 22:51, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hello, Trilliumz. I feel bad that you have to wait so long to see your DYK article get on MainPage, but please see Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Earl Best. Feel free to chime in. Hope this helps. --PFHLai (talk) 03:36, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hello, Trilliumz. Pls note that the "Street Doctor" is now on DYKQ6 and scheduled to appear on MainPage at midnight tonight (UTC). Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 13:48, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Gecko Gear edit

Hi Trilliumz, thanks for trying to rescue Gecko Gear, unfortunately, I have removed much of your work. This is because I would like the AfD to decide on the notability of the Australian company alone, and introducing info on the other companies may confuse the !voters at the AfD as to what the article is about. If you still think that the removed content is useful, we can have a discussion about that on Talk:Gecko Gear. Quasihuman | Talk 10:38, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Plain Green Loans edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Plain Green Loans requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Harry the Dog WOOF 16:05, 27 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
