@Payamkermanshahi: It's a guideline for notability, not fame. The general notability guideline is that "a topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". The basic criteria of the notability guideline for sports say that athletes are presumed to be notable "if they have, for example, participated in a major international amateur or professional competition at the highest level (such as the Olympics)". Your draft does not seem to demonstrate notability either under the general notability guideline or by showing achievement at the highest level of the sport. @Payamkermanshahi: I'm ambivalent about the draft. I don't think the subject is notable, but I don't have enough experience with Wushu to make a full analysis, and defer to anyone who has more knowledge on notability in this area (such as @Yinglong999, whose statement has influenced my opinion). While Asadian has competed in some notable events, I do not believe that he is currently notable because of them. They were junior championships, and he placed third; both of these factors were taken into account. Regarding the notability of wushu athletes

Hi Tol, I am Yinglong999, and I have extensively contributed to wushu since I truly became active here in late November. I am aware of your conversation with Payamkermanshahi and I just wanted to share my input.

Notability regarding wushu athletes is extremely complicated due to various regional and technical factors. Though it is best to judge an athlete through a case-by-case method, I generally follow this rule regarding notability according to achievement: 1. athlete is at least a one-time world champion and multiple time medalist in a main event at the World Wushu Championships (junior, taijiquan, and kungfu championships do not count) and 2. athlete is a multiple time medalist in at least one multi-sport event (Asian Games, East Asian Games, SEA Games, World Games etc.). For some athletes who meet this, you can refer to Gao Jiamin (past DYK), Edgar Xavier Marvelo, Lindswell Kwok, Geng Xiaoling, and others.

In my opinion, the athlete in question, Farshid Asadian, does not meet the notability guideline for wikipedia. His record only shows victories in the junior level, and no significant victories in the adult level and/or in multi-sport events. Interestingly when I searched his name online, two pictures appeared on his google panel/card thing that showed him smiling and posing with medals, one from the 2017 WWC in Kazan and the other from the 2019 WWC in Shanghai. Asadian was not a competitor or medalist in either competition and thus the pictures were for complete show. EDIT: I would like to clarify that simply being on a national team, being ranked #1 in a nation, participating in the WWC, or even just medaling once in the WWC would definitely not be enough support for notability.

You have created the article of the 2014 World Youth Championship, but you say that the youth age category has no value or credibility !!! I do not know the reason for your opposition to Farshid Asadian's article on Wikipedia ?! @Payamkermanshahi: Hello Payamkermanshahi. Firstly I am not sure if more than one person can be conversing on someone else's talk page in a single section. If we need to we can transfer this over to yours or mine. Now, what I created was the 2014 Nanjing Youth Wushu Tournament, not the world junior championships for that year. The sport of wushu was featured as an invitational sport in the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, a notable multi-sport event. Just because this competition was important, this doesn't mean anyone who won or competed in it is notable and likewise, just because numerous notable high level athletes may compete in some random competition or be involved in some organization, it does not mean that the organization or competition would automatically be assumed to be notable. This holds true for the WJWC and the AJWC. I am sorry but I still think the article in question, Farshid Asadian, would not meet the notability guideline. Other Iranian athletes (such as Ehsan Peighambari and Farshad Arabi) may be of your interest to develop. Both athletes are multiple-time medalists at the WWC and have victories at multi-sport events (Peighambari: Asian Games, World Combat Games, Beijing 2008; Arabi: World Combat Games, World Games) I hope you will understand my viewpoint. In addition, the World and Asian Youth Championships are in the calendar of the World Federation and can create a reputation for athletes. @Varal2: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Could you please be more specific? There are so many pointers that could be applicable — I'll give a few to start, and Help:Editing has more:

• Wikipedia has three core content policies: articles should be neutral, verifiable, and without original research.
• Be bold, but not reckless. Don't be upset if your edits are reverted — discuss them with the reverting editor, and you will probably be able to reach a consensus on what to do.
• If a rule prevents you from improving or maintaining Wikipedia, ignore it.
• Edit pages which you want to edit — you're free to work on any section of the encyclopedia.
• Try to always leave an edit summary, even for small edits.
• The English Wikipedia is written in different national varieties of English, which often differ in spelling. Don't change one variety to another (as you did here) without consensus.

TolBot Task 1A: Columns & Links

Hi, Hope your good. I was wondering if you could change the bot that updates Template:COVID-19 vaccination data in Africa to reflect the “total dose” count instead of just “Number of unique individuals who have received at least one dose” or to have 4 columns. @TapticInfo: The bot doesn't exactly "undo" your edit, it just generates the wikitext from scratch each time. Changing the wikitext once won't prevent it from getting overwritten each time. I can, however, change the wikitext generation to link to "vaccination" pages. It doesn't look like there's any opposition at Template talk:COVID-19 vaccination data in Africa, so I'll roll out a change within the next few days. As for adding columns, this would require a complete overhaul of both the data extraction and wikitext generation, but I should be able to do that within a week. @Alliehg: I've moved the page to Draft:The Real Minx, because it appears to have been created in an IP address's userspace (which was probably your IP address while logged out); I have also done some basic cleanup. I have also added a template for the Articles for Creation (AfC) process, to which you can submit the draft. When you are ready, click the blue "Submit the draft for review!" button and then click the blue "Publish" button. The article will be reviewed, and will either be published or declined. If it is declined, you can work on it more and submit it again later. However, I do not think that the article currently establishes notability, which is a test for whether an article should be included. A cursory Google web search on the topic also does not show me evidence of notability. As for your conflict of interest, you must disclose it per instructions here. Our general notability guideline states that "a topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". All reliable sources, online or offline, count. It looks like you use the VisualEditor — just click on the "Cite" button at the top and use the "Manual" tab if it's an offline resource. You do not have to upload them anywhere; Wikipedia operates on the assumption of good faith, so people won't demand to see the source of references (but if the source does not exist or does not verify the statement, someone will eventually find out). I have also removed some external links — our external links guideline states not to use external links in the body of articles; however, if they meet the guideline, you can include them in an "External links" section. Hi Tol, I noticed TolBot changed link articles from "Covid-19 vaccination in" to "Covid-19 pandemic in". The link articles should be vaccination articles. @Phoenix7777: I implemented the change to Template:COVID-19 vaccination data in Africa after a request and no opposition on the talk page. The bot does not change the link (or revert your edit), it rather generates new wikitext each time it is run (with the "pandemic" links, as it is programmed to do). Please demonstrate consensus (or no opposition) on Template talk:COVID-19 vaccination data, then let me know here, and I'll make the change.

Additionally, I don't know if it demonstrates notability well enough — all of the references are from its launch. There should ideally be more on the service itself. Hi Tol! I'm still learning and I'm not sure how to proceed. I found an article I want to edit (so I can understand and guide my students in this process). In the article, there's a statement which provides a link to a graph (that "does not exist anymore") from an an article that one can only read in its entirety with a subscription. As a result, the statement is not verifiable (not by me, at least). How would you edit that? My instinct is to remove the broken link to the graph and add the words "[graph/data required]" after the citation, but leave the citation there. Please advise. Thanks for your assistance! If you were, try looking in Help:Talk pages. As for minor edits, there's no way to change an edit after it's published. Don't worry about your edits, though — they were fine. @BokeATong: Read the grey boxes in the red tags at the top of the page. You need more inline citations from reliable sources. I would say you would need to:

• Add a reference for "rumors of Lunde being involved with AEW";
• Replace or remove all references to Patreon or other self-published sources.

I believe that Lunde is notable; but Wikipedia has stricter policies for biographies of living persons, which means that inline citations are even more essential. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 15:20, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Just so I understand this correctly, I can't use references to the original source material but I can use news articles that source the original source material? It's like saying "I don't believe the person who said it, but I believe the person who heard the person say it"? If that's the way it is, that's the way it is. I'll find the proper references. @BokeATong: Source material is a primary source. Reliable secondary sources that reference and verify that primary source are preferred, because people can say anything that they want to — reliable secondary sources are needed to verify primary sources. @Sarcasticallyincharge: The single Guardian reference definitely counts to establish notability; none of the external links (YouTube, German Wikipedia) do. (I've removed the link to German Wikipedia — interlanguage links are handled differently.) If the band meets any of the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Criteria for musicians and ensembles, add that to the draft — otherwise, focus on adding more references to reliable sources.
