Chinmaya Vidyalaya

Hi Deepu :-)

Hope ur doing fine. I came across the article you started on Chinmaya Vidyalaya. Chinmaya Vidyalaya is a group of schools run by the Chinmaya Mission(Chinmayananda). Chinmaya Vidyalaya's are found all over the world. To my knowledge in Kerala they're found in Ernakulam(Vaduthala), Thrippunithura, Thrissur, Kannur as well as in many places in Tvm. Hence, I'm updating the article accordingly. Cheers and Happy editing! --anirudh 15:39, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Non-commercial images are not supposed to be used in wikipedia as per a decree by Jimbo. I'm afraid but it will have to be deleted unless you can convince the copyright holder to release it under a cc-by / cc-by-sa licence. The lead should contain a summary of the topic. Since the real detail is present elsewhere in the article, ideally it should not have inline references in the lead. This does not apply if the text is unique to the lead. =Nichalp «Talk»= 14:39, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

I am touched

Dear Deepu, I was looking up an entry today when it said I had a message. I looked at my talk page, scrolled to the bottom. I saw the most beautiful butterfly there was and a caption that touched my heart. What can I say...it's a great honour. Little did I know that I would one day participate in making the reference I constantly used a better one. Little did I know that something like this could happen when I first started editing. My heartfelt thanks, Deepu. I feel proud and honoured to be a part of this great family of Wikipedians.

I guess I have a big responsibility now. I will do my best to make Wikipedia better. Hope you will be there to guide me as you always have.

Yours faithfully, --anirudh 03:13, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Sounding out

Chettaa, since you have been around since March and really active since May, may be it's time to think about going for an RfA in mid/late September or thereabouts. But before that you will have to become more active in Wikipedia space, getting involved in policy discussions, RfA discussions (and not just voting) if you are interested etc. Tintin (talk) 12:14, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Asin's birth year

Hi, here is the link from imdb.com: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1821791/

There seems to be a lot of confusion because some sites give 1981 and some 1985. Since the official website, www.asinonline.com does not mention the birth year, it's hard to be sure. I came across a conversation which said that she did her first film in 2001, Narendra Makan. If she would be born in 1985, she would be 16 years. Sounds improbable. Anyway let me know if you find out anything.

Thanks Dhwaneet

Tintin

He told me that he felt that taking an RfA meant an obligation to do admin work, and that would take away from his writing. I really admire him for saying that, as many admins don't do any work at all like they promised to and only see the RfA as a decoration or trophy. Blnguyen | rant-line 05:26, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Thank you, thank you ! It feel very nice to get such compliments :-) Time and priority are the reasons why I don't want to got for adminship. There is a huge amount of work left to do. Around this time last year, I had plenty of free time and I used to add 10-15 articles a month and take part in AfD and other discussions. But now, the articles have come down to 2-3 per month and hardly any wiki space activity. So diverting even the little time available for editing won't be the proper thing to do. about the new user

ya I noticed him too.. (I've got Hyderabad on my watchlist.) We need to wait till we know more about him than that he browses the french wikipedia, a pro free market, Arundati Roy baiter. Well about me though: whenever I get onto wikipedia nowadays, I end up spending more time reading one of the 1 million plus articles than contributing. --hydkat 09:59, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Try to avoid country-centrism and topic-centrism. Wikipedia is a general-interest encyclopedia with a global audience. No DYK installment should have more than two entries relating to one country, topic, or issue, and no more than one is even better.

Thank you Deepu

Hello Deepu Joseph,

I like the concept of Wikipedia and the main problem with this is it is very very complicated to operate. If I make some changes, that need to be agreed by everyone. There are many complicated issues on which debate after debate is going on and with no end results. But I will stay.

Anyway I will learn it after using it. Some pages start disappearing or get disintegrated. I don't know why. Like the Indian Coast Guard page.

Anyway How is Cochin? And what progress did Achu mama bring to Kochi?

I don't see any purpose in having all these articles like Irumudi kettu, Guru Swamy, Traditional trek route and 108 Ayyappan Saranam. At the most, they may be worth a line or a small paragraph in the parent article. Someone put a speedy tag on Guru Swamy. I am sending it to WP:PROD instead. Tintin (talk) 10:25, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi deepu

Sorry for editing without permission. I am in the process of learning wiki etiquettes.

Main reference for my corrections(?) is;

K. Kunjunni Raja, Astronomy and Mathematics in Kerala, The Adyar Library and Research Centre, 1995.

On Jyeshtadeva:- It was K.V. Sharma who assigned the period 1475-1575. Achyuta Pisharati, a disciple of J states that J completed Yukthibhasha on the day 1,714,262. (in katapayadi system). This corresponds to AD 1592. Kunhunni Raja asigns the period 1500-1600 to J.

A book by Dr. S. Balachandra Rao (Indian Mathematics and Astronomy) assigns the period (c. 1500-1610)to J.

Unspecified source for Image:Jewish synagouge kochi india.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Jewish synagouge kochi india.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
