Conclict of interest edit

Please read WP:COI. I've no problems with your recent edit but before you do more you really need to read this. Thanks. I've also added a good menu above as guidance,you might want to read WP:NOV carefully also, noting what it says about fringe subjects in particular. Wipipedia editing is very very different from writing essays, articles, or books. Thanks. dougweller (talk) 10:41, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thx a lot, I will have a look. I already know Wikipedia from the German Wikipedia, so I will quickly become used to it. --Thorwald C. Franke (talk) 21:43, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Ok, that's got pretty good policies and guidelines I gather, maybe better than ours (from my point of view that is - I like good, verifiable sources). dougweller (talk) 22:08, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Please don't add your own site, suggest it on the article's talk page. Dougweller (talk) 20:38, 8 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

August 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Location hypotheses of Atlantis has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.youtube.com/user/ThFranke. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 12:45, 8 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

  Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Location hypotheses of Atlantis do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

  When adding links to material on an external site, as you did to Location hypotheses of Atlantis, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

  • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
  • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. I note that you added this link yet again after I pointed out the copyright violations, to which your reply was " I laugh loudly about so many other much more silly and rule-violating weblinks accepted by Wikipedia. Why not removing them?" Please do remove anything you see that is a copyright violation. Dougweller (talk) 12:10, 10 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Review of weblinks edit

Regarding the removal of External links on Location hypotheses of Atlantis, there's a Wikipedia guideline Wikipedia:Do not disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point to which you might give a read. I agree that article had too many uncited, mediocre-quality external links, but since it follows a link being removed for WP:COI reasons, the deleting of other links en masse may look WP:POINTy, and could hurt your position. The review of these links can occur while the links are in place, and it might be helpful for you to demonstrate good faith by undoing this edit.

Just a suggestion. Of course you are free to disregard this. / edg 11:44, 20 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ok, undone button pressed, but I reclaim, that I did *not* delete all weblinks, *and* I really deleted each single weblink by intention. See you in discussion, which I enhance, now. --Thorwald C. Franke (talk) 21:08, 20 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

If you are still around, there is an Rfc about Atlantis to which you could provide a valuable contribution.--Jack Upland (talk) 08:55, 19 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
