The thing is the Military history wikiproject urgently needs prose pros to help with our best articles. Milhist covers a broad range of interesting and varied subjects from film to biography, battles to weaponry, and Roman emperors to twentieth-century dictators. In Milhist, A-Class has become the last port of call before FAC and we are looking for people to help identify prose and MoS issues at A-Class A-Class Reviews and help fix them prior to featured article candidacy. We also have a copy-editing section in our Logistics Dept and that can always use experienced copy-editors. For most of our articles, you don't need to be a specialist in the subject matter, just good with words.

2008–09 SEC men's basketball season

Based on your participation in creating the 2008–09 Tennessee Volunteers men's basketball team, I thought you might be interested in creating an article for the 2008–09 SEC men's basketball season. The 2008–09 Big Ten Conference men's basketball season and 2008–09 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball season articles have been going since before the conference tournaments and recently 2008–09 Big East Conference men's basketball season and 2008–09 Big 12 Conference men's basketball season have been created. I hope to encourage all the power conferences to create such articles this year or at least by next year. In fact, next year I hope to get all the mid majors in on the action too. I do the 2008–09 Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team and the 2008–09 Big Ten Conference men's basketball season and am willing to respond to any queries.

PROD of Daria derin

Why did you PROD this? It clearly meets criteria for speedy deletion and it is an obvious hoax when it is stated that this girl has some kind of Jonas brothers obsession disease, even though there is no such thing. Could you explain your stance to me? Eagles 24/7 (C) 06:27, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

How I nominate articles for deletion is an extension of my assumption of good faith. I agree, a few of the phrases were plump for some removal and I considered a speedy. But, the article also claimed that the subject was notable for her singing prowess and that she was known for that ability. I then acted based on the fact that this was the most credible claim to notoriety. After beseeching the Oracle, I could find zero sources to back up the claim. (When it comes to singers, it could easily appear on 27 things TheTito knows darn near nothing about.) In my eyes the article had a realistic indication of importance but that it should not have been kept in the system without sources. Thus, I added the PROD template to give the author time to fix the article. There is precedent where I remove the more outrageous claims before tagging—I was either forgetful or lazy that night/morning. I would rather PROD than CSD where there is even some degree of doubt. Linking

But if its an article about linking shouldn't it have links in it? I was going to make the whole think all linked but it took too much time so I only did the first paragraph. The article does have links in it, nine in the intro alone. I disagree that every word requires a link—most editors and the manual of style would disagree, too. For use as an example, I would agree that the article needs one. However, it already has it in the first full section: Hyperlinking#External link. As for linking every word, that should be avoided as stated at Wikipedia:Linking#What generally should not be linked. Only topical, germane subjects should be linked. April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive

Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up

Thanks very much to all who helped with the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive. We were very close to meeting our target of 7,500 articles remaining in the backlog. Our most shining success is the incredible reduction in the backlog of Special Requests. That part of the project saw a drop from 62 articles in the queue, some dating back to February of 2009, down to a stunning THREE, all of which were being edited at the close of the drive. The Special Requests page will now be a great resource for people looking to tidy up their article in advance of a GA or FA nomination, instead of a place where articles go to die. Moving forward GOCE backlog elimination drive chart up to 31 May The drive has not only forced a great leap forward in reducing the backlog. It has helped promote the Guild, and led to a greater awareness of the level of vigilance required to keep the backlog manageable. Hi, you've just slapped a refimproveBLP on this article (Chevez Ezaneh), but I don't understand what information you'd like referenced. The two lines of bio come from Wiki links. I did not place it because there is some spurious claim that I am challenging. I did it because I felt that it needed more references. As listed, it only has one and that is IMDB, a sometimes reliable source (there is a discussion here about its reliability if you're interested in such things). I put this tag on in lieu of the notability tag. From my glancing at his roles on IMDB, he has one or two large roles and then a handful of one-time roles in different series (including his single award). Thus, he may or may not meet notability for entertainers. As a borderline candidate (in my eyes), I put the refimproveBLP tag on over other tags or taking it to AFD. If he is notable per the general notability guidelines, then there should be other sources out there besides IMDB that talks about him and I would love those sources to end up in the article if they do exist.

If you disagree or think that my logic is mistaken, feel free to change or remove the tag and I will take no offense. I am not married to any tags that I place on most pages. I just came across this on my patrol. TheTito ^Discuss 05:51, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification. I merely worked from the fact that the young actor was mentioned in four different Wiki articles, one of which had a dangling link for him, which I took for an invitation. GOCE July 2010 backlog elimination drive chart Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive! We have now passed the halfway point, so here's an update. Progress Report - Progress toward the targets has been good. 751 articles out of the approximately 1,600 we would like to get completed by the end of the month were done by July 15, so we will be very close to meeting the target for volume. However, we would like to clear all of the 2008 articles from the backlog, and there are still 892 left to do. Please consider choosing one of these older articles when looking for something to copy edit. If we focus our firepower we can completely wipe out 2008 from the queue. Participation Report - 95 people signed up for the July drive. This is a great result compared to May, when we had 36. However, in May only one person that signed up didn't do any copy edits, and in July only 59 of the 95 have posted any copy edits on the big board. The task may seem insurmountable but please remember that if all 95 participants copy edit just one article a day from now until the end of the month, we will eliminate 1,300 more articles from the backlog. So please consider participating at whatever level you can! All contributions are appreciated. Re your message: I deleted both Subash Sinchuari and Santosh Ramdam under CSD A7. None of them make any notability claims. The early revision of Subash Sinchuar was actually a duplicate of Santosh Ramdam. Additionally, I proposed for deletion the two duplicate articles, Jhupadi ko jindagi and Jhupadi ko jindagin, made by the editor on the film that these two (maybe just one?) people were involved with. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:20, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I saw you placed notability and primary sources sources tags on the three teams wikis. I kept the primary sources tag but removed the notablity ones. Unfortuneatly these are considered notable. However given the track record of the league's owner and his 5 previous failed semi-pro leagues and the similar direction this one seems to be going. GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales—signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody! Stats If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you edited in the May 2010 GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive, your word totals are cumulative for barnstars (not the leaderboard). Diablo wind

Hi, I fixed your edit of this article. It seems improper to use {{convert}} in circumstances when you aren't dealing with a fixed temperature but instead a rate of temperature change, as it will (as it did in the article) treat it wrongly. In the article's case it marked an increase of 20 fahrenheit as -7 celcius which would be fine, except for the fact this was a temperature increase and the increase was by 11.1 celcius.

So you may wish to examine other instances in which you used this to ensure that they are correct for the circumstances they're being used in. AJ Kirwin (talk) 20:35, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive! GOCE September 2010 backlog elimination drive progress graphs Participation report — We have 71 participants in the September drive. 95 people signed up for the July drive, and in May we had 36. Progress report — We have been making solid progress in eliminating the 2008 articles from the backlog so far. If we continue to focus our firepower we can completely wipe out 2008 from the queue. Overall volumes are lower than expected though, with nearly a thousand articles yet to be done if we are to meet our overall target. If you have not yet participated in the drive, we recommend you do so. If each person who signed up edits one article per day from now till the end of the month we can eliminate another 1,065 articles from the backlog. All contributions are appreciated. Announcement: credit for 10k+ articles — Participants editing a 10k word article may claim credit for two 5k+ articles on the leaderboard. Those that edit a 15k word article may claim credit for three. Regardless, the article is still counted as a single article in the tallies. Reminder — Articles from the Requests page can be included in your tally, even if they do not have a copy edit tag. This is a great place to go if you are interested in finding a higher quality article to work on. September 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive Conclusion

GOCE September 2010 backlog elimination drive progress graphs Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors September 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated! Several of our top editors were called away to real life concerns during the month (be careful out there, people!). This meant that once again, we did not meet all our lofty targets, but we did come close. Stats Out of 76 registered editors, 45 actively participated. We nearly wiped out the 2008 articles from the backlog—there were only 13 remaining when the drive closed. We reduced the backlog by 725 articles (11.5%), so it was another successful drive. A total of 59 barnstars will be awarded to 40 editors—well done, and congratulations to all. Barnstars If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you edited in the July 2010 GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive, you may have earned rollover words, which counted towards this month's barnstars (except for the leaderboard awards). Any unused word credits will be held over for the next drive, as long as you participated in the September drive. Over the course of the next week or two, we will be handing out the barnstars. November copy edit drive

The Wikipedia Guild of Copy-Editors invites you to participate in the November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive, a month-long effort to reduce the backlog of articles that require copy-editing. November 2010 backlog elimination drive update

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive! GOCE November 2010 backlog elimination drive progress graphs We have reached the midway point in our backlog elimination drive, so here is an update. Participation report — The November drive has 53 participants at this point. We had 77 participants in the September drive. In July, 95 people signed up for the drive, and in May we had 36. If you are not participating, it is not too late to join! Progress report — The drive is quite successful so far, as we have already almost reached our target of a 10% reduction in the number of articles in the backlog. We are doing very well at keeping our Requests page clear, as those articles count double for word count for this drive. Please keep in mind the possibility of removing other tags when you are finished with an article. If the article no longer needs {{cleanup}}, {{wikify}}, or other similar maintenance tags, please remove them, as this will make the tasks of other WikiProjects easier to complete. GOCE Drive – Final push

Greetings GOCE Backlog elimination drive participant, We are now coming up to the last few days of the drive, the last for 2010. Currently, it looks like we will achieve our target for reducing the backlog by 10%, however, we still have huge numbers for 2009. We have 55 participants in this drive. If everyone just clears 2 articles each, we will reduce the backlog by a further 110 articles. If everyone can just do 3 articles, we will hit 165. If you have yet to work on any articles and have rollover words, remember that you do need to copyedit at least a couple of articles in this drive for your previous rollover to be valid for the next drive. There are many very small articles that will take less than 5-10 minutes to copyedit. Use CatScan to find them. Let's all concentrate our firepower on the first three months of 2009 as we approach the end of this final drive for the year. The voting period will run for 14 days: 00:01 UTC, Friday 1 December – 23:59 UTC, Tuesday 14 December. All GOCE members in good standing, as well as past participants of any of the Guild's Backlog elimination drives, are eligible to vote. There are six candidates vying for four positions. The candidate with the highest number of votes will become the Lead Coordinator, therefore, your vote really matters! Cast your vote today.

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive! We have reached the end of our fourth backlog elimination drive. Thanks to all who participated. Stats GOCE November 2010 backlog elimination drive graphs 58 people signed up for this drive. Of these, 48 people participated in the drive. Although we did not eliminate the months we planned to (January, February, and March 2009; and August, September, and October 2010), we did reduce the backlog by 627 articles (11.2%), which was over our goal of 10%. 49 awards will go out to 33 of 48 participants. Check out the complete list of barnstar winners here. Barnstars If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the September 2010 backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 backlog elimination drive Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! The drive is halfway over, so here are some mid-drive stats. Participation GOCE January 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs So far, 43 people have signed up for this drive. Of these, 25 have participated. If you signed up for the drive but haven't participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you haven't signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now. Progress report We have eliminated two months from the backlog – January and February 2009. One of our goals is to eliminate as many months as possible from the 2009 backlog. Please help us reduce the size of this part of the backlog if you haven't already. Another goal is to reduce the entire backlog by 10%, or by 515 articles. GOCE January Backlog elimination drive conclusion

Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive Greetings from the January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We have reached the end of the month and the end of another successful drive; thanks to all who participated. Statistics 54 people signed up for the year's first Backlog elimination drive. Of these, 40 participated. One of our goals was to reduce the size of the backlog by at least 10%. We managed to reduce the backlog by 633 articles, or about 12%. Another goal was to eliminate as many 2009 months as possible from the queue. We eliminated January, February, March, and April—4 out of 12 months is not bad! In addition, we eliminated 37% of all remaining 2009 articles from the queue. Chaosdruid copy edited Kutch Gurjar Kashtriya for 32,711 words, which is the largest single article completed in one of our drives so far. This article counts as six 5000-K articles, and Chaosdruid wins the "most 5000-K articles" leaderboard category. Way to go! A complete list of individual results is here. March 2011 GAN backlog elimination drive a week away

WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of March. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 50. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. GOCE drive invitation

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting. This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated. We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests.
