Samar Chatterjee edit

Thanks for the message on my talk page. Yes there is an easy way to do what you want - click on the history tab at the top of the article page, that shows the complete list of edits made to the page and who made them. The if you click on the "prev" link next to any edit, you will be taken to a "diff" page that shows the changes made and below that the article as it existed with those revisions. Hope this helps. – ukexpat (talk) 15:28, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Samar20.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading File:Samar20.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:06, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is a response from Sushila69: The license tagging and permission has been sent by email. Please note the copy and paste version of the letter below, addressing a similar concern by others. Thanks. Sushila69.

Image permission problem with Image:Samar14.JPG edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Samar14.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ukexpat (talk) 20:42, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Before the image is added to the article, you have to provide evidence of the release of the image to use on Wikipedia. Please see above. – ukexpat (talk) 20:44, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The permission letter sent by email. See below the copy and paste of the email letter sent by owner of the copyright who has released it for use freely on the wikipedia. Please upload the image to the article. Thanks. Sushila69

File copyright problem with File:Samar20.JPG edit

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Samar20.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk)(review) 08:32, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Here is the copyright tag as requested by you:

I, the copyright holder of this work, Sushila69, hereby grant the permission to copy, distribute and/or modify this document Samar20.jpg file under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 or any later version published by the Free Software Foundation; with no Invariant Sections, no Front-Cover Texts, and no Back-Cover Texts. AfD nomination of Samar Chatterjee edit

Hope, some one can contact me by email and provide necessary assistance to address your objections. Regards. Sushila69

Question about File:Samar14.JPG edit

Hi Sushila, Welcome to wikipedia and thanks for your contributions here. I noticed that you have been informed about the missing copyright information for File:Samar14.JPG, and that you mentioned that emailing the permission letter to release the picture for free use. Can you cut-n-paste the text of the letter below, so that we can help you tag the image correctly ? (Note that you don't need to do so, if the letter contains any personal information that you don't wish to reveal in public!)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here or contact me on my talk page. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 15:40, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I think that should be sufficient.
A couple of notes:
  • You should sign your messages on wikipedia talk pages by adding four tidas (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically add your username and a date stamp.
  • If the article Samar Chatterjee is to be retained on wikipedia, we need to establish that it satisfies wikipedias notability guidelines for biographies. This essentially means that we need to show that several reliable sources that are independent of the subject have discussed the subject or his work. Currently the article mainly relies on Chatterjees own publications, so this requirement doesn't seem to be met. Do you know if there are any newspaper, magazine articles that talk about Chatterjee or if he has been specifically discussed in any books or academic articles ?

Samar Chatterjee, reference formatting edit

Please take a look at how I have formatted the new references using <ref></ref> tags. See WP:CITE. – ukexpat (talk) 18:16, 27 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

OK, one more time with feeling. Please read WP:CITE to see how to format references properly. Thank you. – ukexpat (talk) 19:53, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Again, I have fixed the reference formatting for you. Please take a look at how I have done it so that you can do it yourself next time. Thanks. – ukexpat (talk) 15:58, 25 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Samar Chatterjee edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Samar Chatterjee requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this:   which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Eeekster (talk) 20:24, 23 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
