Lists of medalists on Olympic pages edit

Hi Sue Anne, good to see you back again! I see that you have been updating some of the 2004 pages to reformat the list of medalists. A few months ago I started using sortable tables for that sort of thing, such as on Algeria at the Olympics and Jamaica at the Olympics. For shorter lists, like Ghana at the Olympics, the table doesn't have to be sortable, but has a common visual style. Another example is the just finished China at the 2004 Summer Olympics, which has links to every event article in addition to the top-level sport articles. What do you think? I thought it was a good solution to the problem of some pages having lists by sport and others by medal. Shall we try to adopt that as the common style for the Category:Nations at the 2008 Summer Olympics articles once they start filling up in a few weeks? Archers edit

Dear Sue Anne, I address you because in the past you contributed to the article of a Russian Olympic archer Balzhinima Tsyrempilov. Recently, I started 2 new articles about Russian Olympic archers, Natalia Erdyniyeva and Bair Badënov. I have but a minor experience with the English edition of Wikipedia, I am not a native speaker of English and totally lack sports terminology. Would you please review and correct these articles when/if you find it possible (taking in account their current participation in the Archery at the 2008 Summer Olympics events). Thanks in advance, --Tar-ba-gan (talk) 15:53, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Go to http://www.sports-reference.com and click on the Olympics, then click on the athletes database which is set up in a 26 x 26 matrix for the first two letters of the surname. Speedy deletion nomination of Voices.com edit

A tag has been placed on Voices.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. File source problem with File:Rogers1.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Rogers1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:30, 23 August 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:30, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity edit

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts.

Gettting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games edit

Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Thank you. --LauraHale (talk) 04:14, 17 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Notice of change edit

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
