hi pls ban rsrikanth05 frm tamil wiki contest. hes usin hindi. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.0.8.63 (talk) 18:08, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

That is a strange reason to ban anyone from the contest. As long as the subjects of his uploads are relevant by the contest rules and standards, usage of language doesnt matter at all. Moreover the images are in "commons" a place where people are encouraged to add descriptions in as many languages as possible. --Sodabottle (talk) 18:12, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

Great amount of Coimbatore articles, needing cleanup, say Anna Salai, National Highway 47. Can't seem to find any source. Besides, NH47/544 is now along the Kovai bypass and not thru city. I think I have a ref for that. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 05:47, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Please read this. We have been removing all indic scripts in the lead exactly because of behaviour of people like you - who turn wikipedia into a identity battle ground. Native language scripts were used only for transcription purposes in official/origin languages. But now thanks to people insisting on adding scripts which they believe are "related" to the subject, the situation is intolerable and all of them are being removed.
And regarding Who are you to remove what i have added, you might what to read about what Wikipedia is and how it works.--Sodabottle (talk) 08:49, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Pro Madurai edits

Some IP [223.235.75.245], has consistently been editing disruptively. First made Madurai a Metro, then said second largest, changed order of Coimbatore vs Madurai on multiple articles. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 12:03, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

thanks for catching and reverting the vandalism (thankfully deliberate introduction of errors is vandalism per our policy :-)). Will keep an eye. If this continues we will ask for semi protections. You're welcome. However, the issue is that the IP wasn't vandalising only Madurai. He kept inserting Madurai to other articles. "Nearest airport to Erode is Madurai (180km), Coimbatore (85km), and Salem (85km)". Does this make any sense? Wikipedia Stories Project

Hi!

My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. I'm chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who make and use Wikipedia have so much to share.

I received the following message on my talk page:

Hi, I saw from several of my edit-friend's talk pages that you were looking to talking to them for stories. [I saw on the talk pages of Netha Hussain and Naveenpf]. Might I make a suggestion of User:Sodabottle ??? He organised an excellent contest which resulted in the Wikimedia Commons getting 15k+ files. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 07:06, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

I'd very much like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia. Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project.

Thank you for your time,

Deletion of my addition

From Moon29

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Hindi_agitations_of_Tamil_Nadu

I noticed that you removed a Tamil Tribune link on the self-immolation of Tamil youths in 1965 in opposition to Hindi imposition (I added that link on May 30, 2012). I have read a lot about the 1965 anti-Hindi agitation and this link provides good solid reliable information (irrespective of their political views (pro-DMK??)). Unless the information in that link is falsified or fabricated to promote their politics, I do not see a reason to remove the link. If you know the information is falsified or fabricated, please write me. I will wait for couple of weeks before putting it back. I do not want fake information either. Please do not remove it unless you know the information is falsified or fabricated. I know you removed it with good intentions. Let us not throw the baby with the bath water. There is solid information in that link. We are two well-meaning Tamils. Lets work together.

I usually come here very infrequently. Since we have an open item I will now check here at least once a week.

Before closing this mail, let me thank you for the contributions you are making in Wikipedia. Although I registered at Wikipedia a few years ago I have contributed very little for lack of time. The time committment you must have made is impressive. Thanks.

Moon29 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moon29 (talkcontribs) 15:13, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Moon29, I removed the Tamil Tribune link because of its controversial and rhetorical language. Before i expanded the AHA articles into its current state in 2009, the addition of the link and using it as a source was disputed. So when we expanded the article, we decided to not use the link at all (either as external link or as a reference) to avoid contention from opposing editors. All the information the link offered were sourced from other undisputable sources. In controversial and highly emotion inducing articles like this one, it is always better to err on the side of caution to avoid edit wars and other assorted drama. That is my reason to avoid adding the link. I still believe, any value gained from adding that tamil tribune link is outweighed by potential trouble it can create (we had enough of those in 2007-08). Please go through the talk page archives to see what sort of issues can arise. If you still feel that the link is worth adding, go ahead and add it.--Sodabottle (talk) 14:28, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
-------------- Hi Sodabottle, Thank you for the reply. I read the linked article one more time carefully. I think that most readers would find the article informative. So I am adding it as an external link. Regards - Moon29 Moon29 (talk) 04:16, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
