Orphaned non-free image (Image:Globe Telecom Logo.png) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Globe Telecom Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 17:12, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Globe_Telecom_Logo.png edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Globe_Telecom_Logo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 19:59, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:ATM_Bersama.png edit

I have tagged Image:ATM_Bersama.png as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Alpta 17:31, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:ATM_Bersama.png edit

I have tagged Image:ATM_Bersama.png as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. Image source problem with Image:BPI Direct Logo.png edit

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:BPI Direct Logo.png. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:58, 13 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Speedy deletion of Template:Yellow Line extension colour edit

A tag has been placed on Template:Yellow Line extension colour requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Routine stuff, anything that goes on at the café, deletion requests, etc. But the strange thing is I really don't see any activity right now from two usually active admins. So unlike before, when they would at least pay a visit, even if so briefly. I have requests on their talk pages too. There are also "bot" requests I believe. - DaughterofSun (talk) 02:01, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I am not a bureaucrat, so don't expect me to handle bot requests (ask Bluemask). Maybe I can handle deletion requests. --Sky Harbor 02:03, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks. I know that we are all just volunteering our time here and there. So pardon me if I'm just not that familiar with the technicalities between bureaucrats and admins, or who to ask about something more related to technicalities (well, not yet). Thanks for informing me about this difference. But, probably it'll be best for me to just wait a bit more before asking Bluemask. Maybe he's just busy in real life right now. That, I believe, everybody will and should understand (that includes me, of course). Thanks, again. - DaughterofSun (talk) 04:02, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:Multibanco.png edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Multibanco.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:20, 10 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sdrtirs (talk) 01:20, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Multibanco.png edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Multibanco.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Unang Pahina edit

Can you please see WP:KAPE at Tagalog Wikipedia? We believe it's time to replace the Unang Pahina with Unang Pahina/Temp. It's been their for quite a while with three in support none with opposition. I believe that's consensus already due to the fact that we only have a very small editing community, espescially now that all our administrators are gone for I think 3rd or 4th. I beg, again, of you Tagalog admins to participate in community discussions. -- Felipe Aira 09:34, 11 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion edit

There are many many images moved to Commons that have redundant copies at tl.wikipedia, and they need speedy deletion. You'll find them here at tl:Category:Mga malalayang larawang may kopya sa Commons. All of those images have been moved to Commons. Thank you. -- Felipe Aira 10:41, 19 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

And also please follow this tl:MediaWiki_talk:Uploadwizard-url. That makes the magkarga ng talaksan point to Wikipedia:Pagkarga, as here in English. -- Felipe Aira 12:32, 19 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Whoa there, speedy! (lol) There is no policy that explicitly bans free content from being uploaded to the Tagalog Wikipedia instead of Commons (which is what WP:Pagkarga is implying). If it were more like WP:Upload here, then I will consider it. We shouldn't inconvenience users by forcing them to register at Commons to upload free content; they should have the convenience to upload it at tl.wp. Once that is fixed, I will fix the MediaWiki page to link to WP:Pagkarga. --Sky Harbor 14:29, 19 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I believe that there has been a previous consensus at WP:KAPE. -- Felipe Aira 02:01, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Tagalog Wikipedia needs you edit

There are a lot of things to do in the Tagalog Wikipedia. They are set in order of priority.

  1. There are MediaWiki and template code errors that needs to be fixed. (tl:Wikipedia:Kapihan#Problema_sa_Suleras_ng_Link_FA)
  2. tl:MediaWiki:Uploadwizard-url needs to be created with the content:
    Wikipedia:Pagkarga
. This basically points the Magkarga ng Talaksan (file) to tl:Wikipedia:Pagkarga, which is an upload wizard just like here in en. This effectively bypasses the default link Special:Upload.
  3. Every image here at tl:Category:Mga_malalayang_larawang_may_kopya_sa_Commons needs to be deleted. Those are images already move to Commons.

Thank you. -- Felipe Aira 01:57, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The wizard needs to be fixed before I will update the MediaWiki link. Seriously, it reads like it wants people to upload to Commons instead (which should not be the case). I have also deleted some pictures moved to Commons and will continue tomorrow EDT (time here in the US). --Sky Harbor 02:05, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I changed the wording so that it will not sound very imperative. Please read the first section at WP:KAPE. -- Felipe Aira 09:34, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can you please do #1, it's quite urgent. -- Felipe Aira 11:32, 27 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:BDO Logo.png} edit

Thank you for uploading Image:BDO Logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Fair use rationale for Image:Bank bcb.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bank bcb.gif. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 20:25, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:FlashPass Card.png edit

Thank you for uploading Image:FlashPass Card.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by an adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. ViperSnake151 17:13, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Major Airports of the Philippines edit

Philippine Airlines Website renewal edit

Hi Sky Harbour, the Official Philippine Airlines Website has gone under a total revamp! ALL the links have been changed around due to this. Its a great new website, but for this wikipedia article to remain sourced we have to update nearly all sources. Sadly this will take some time and work, but if we all work together it shouldnt be hard. Its very rare for them to change the website for a very long time after this though. Its also an advantage that we will have very updated links, so we can submit this article for a review in the future. So i hope. Please do your part if you can, we should all contribute for a better Philippine Airlines article. Lovebus 14:16, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I noticed that the website went through a facelift...the SkyscraperCity community seems ecstatic, but for the purposes of Wikipedia, it is quite a hassle. Of course, I can try my best to help. --Sky Harbor (talk) 14:40, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

When you added the seat map of PR for the Boeing 777-300ER, you stated in your edit summary, per info on PEx. What exactly is PEx? What is the website of PEx? Just curios. pikdig (talk) 12:58, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

PEx is PinoyExchange, one of the biggest message boards in the Philippines. Alongside SkyscraperCity, PEx has one of the most vibrant aviation-related communities. Information about a lot of things come out there well before they are announced, like the Boeing 777 seat plan, for instance, and even pictures of the new PR cabin. --Sky Harbor (talk) 13:01, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

zest airways edit

Historical data should be balanced, neutral and encyclopedic, containing comprehensive notable, verifiable knowledge. It should not be a collection of extra information as to constitute advertising, or a proposal to present extrapolation, speculation, and "future history" WP:SPECULATION marked as inappropriate. Other individual scheduled or expected future events should only be included if the event is notable and almost certain to take place WP:FUTURE. Likewise, it is not appropriate for editors to insert their own opinions or analysis. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. Even if its true, or verifiable, it does not automatically make something suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Information must and should not be based on Tabloid journalism but on simple facts as much as possibleWP:IINFO. Unless you change how it is written I will edit it again and again. Ariel c nunag (talk) 14:54, 18 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

How is it tabloid journalism when it is information that is fully supported by citations and is an irrefutable part of the history of the company? You present no proof as to how that version of the history is considered as an indiscriminate collection of information yet you assert it as such. You think board and CAB approval for the name change is trivial when in reality it is not? The version that you present is likewise incomplete. What about the plan by Alfredo M. Yao to acquire SEAIR and merge it with Asian Spirit? Isn't that important also? --Sky Harbor (talk) 04:42, 19 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
As explained in the Wikipedia policy, merely being true, or even verifiable, does not automatically make something suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia WP:IINFO. A comprehensive fact is never detailed but contains all the essential information.
Expected future events should only be included if the event is notable and almost certain to take place WP:FUTURE. For Example, 2010 Philippine Presidential Elections or the 2012 London Olympics. If preparation for the event is not already in progress, speculation about it must be well documented WP:SPECULATION.
Intention to buy and own SEAIR is pure speculation as it is not certain to happen. The anticipated event cannot be verified with certainty WP:CBALL. It simply meant you are not 100% sure that the owners of Seair will agree on Mr. Yao's proposal of sale. Zest-O is not also an essential element of the article as it was not the juice drink that bought the airline but AMY Holdings which owns both product.
Tabloid journalism means that the article is written to focus on local interest stories as against worldwide readers WP:NPOV, with emphasis on inconsequential trivia. Airlines in the Philippines require a franchise to operate. The franchise granted by the government belongs to Asian Spirit. In the eyes of aviation regulators, local or foreign, the airline does not exist unless it was officially changed by the company. In the corporate world, only the Board of Directors can do that.
Also, without notice to the government, the corporations decision to change its name cannot be made effective. That is why the decision to change the airlines identity as well as government approval is notable event of the company WP:NOTABILITY. Without those things it simply cannot fly. Ariel c nunag (talk) 22:01, 19 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
It is not pure speculation. Apparently, you did not read the citation. Alfredo M. Yao did announce his intention to purchase SEAIR, but was unable to do so as apparently SEAIR management was uninterested. His original plan was to merge SEAIR into Asian Spirit, not just buy Asian Spirit outright and then proceed with what he did. Before you judge what the content is, at least take the time to read the citation first.
All the information you want retained is retained in my version of the history. In fact, I wrote it specifically to incorporate both the original version of the history (prior to the renaming) and including the additions you added. So before you begin preaching to me about Wikipedia policy (something which I am fully aware of given that I have been a part of this community since 2005) and how you purport that I violated them through my edits, be more cognizant of the information I added. The fact that both the attempted acquisition of SEAIR and the renaming are supported by independent sources through valid citations to those sources (per WP:V) proves that it does merit a place in the history of Zest. --Sky Harbor (talk) 08:57, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merry Christmas edit

It is written that there is a reason for everything. In my blocked talk page, I was invited to share wisdom in Wikinews, and I turned it down. I never appreciated this project. Having learned PC and Word typing just in May 2006, when I was Googled, I came to Wikipedia without any IT learning. But like other Filipinos I learned by copy catting. I had been warned by my adopter Ian to retire lest I be banned. I told him let's not discuss this, I am more concerned about your studies in Laguna. I cannot explain to you, why in all my life, those who are around me or my neighbors perish. In Tagalog it is "salot." Most of my neighbors die painfully. IanLopez was expelled and is suffering now. It will take a year for him to recover amid settled court case. On December 3, I tried Wikinews painfully, since I know I am faced with Class a journalists called accredited reporters. My first article was marked "failed." Now, Wikinews is 50% mine or 70% in some days. It is terribly hard to create a news article. Why? You must get a notable breaking news fast. It takes 5 full hours to finish one. I love images and I rarely created without one. A SECRET. In Wikinews, there is no chance to be blocked, and editing can only be approved by review, it is called draft page. Today, my works are approved right away even if there are clerical errors, they don't bother to check my works, since most of them landed in the very front page top of. In Wikipedia English, most of my edits are not reverted except by the duo. But I ignore all these, since our relationship is personal enmity, nothing about Wiki. Do not believe others, that my enemies are skeptics. They use the best psychics and trace me. It is very deep.

I was offered by email by a very respected Wikipedian to edit my own articles, but I never responded, since I believe in integrity. Florentino Floro is made based on journalists' and our courts' lies, we can't blame them. As they say, Yes Virginia there is Santa Claus.[1] Even if I am unblocked, I will not anymore contribute in W English, since I get the front page daily in Wikinews. It is tremendous worldwide exposure. A final word. You will not believe, that, the Wikipedia editor who had faith in me is an agnostic and a very wealthy man. He says that he only believes what he sees. I told him before that in 2007 I debunked the lower paranormal phenomena even if I claimed to be the No. 1 Psychic who can move by annihilation. I rose to the level of the lights of St. Paul, the gifts of healing and prophecy. I only believe what I see. I wanna leave an unsolicited advise to you: throw and IGNORE all negatives. Do not have anger in your heart. Just pick up all the POSITIVES. The disadvantage is, if you ignore the tons of detractors, the more they will stalk you. See the Tambayan posts. Just some of my lines, and all the rats are interested in bullying. The agnostic editor said - it is a sick world. Cheers.--124.106.80.18 (talk) 08:29, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[2]--124.106.80.18 (talk) 12:32, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

WP:UE and article naming edit

Following on your reversion here of a recent article move I had made, I've asked for some guidance about that and similar situations at Wikipedia_talk:Naming_conventions_(use_English)#Articles_with_foreign-language_names. -- Boracay Bill (talk) 03:11, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

As far as I know, everyone calls it the Libingan ng nga Bayani, even in English. There are cases where the media translates the name (an example would be "Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes' Cemetery)" in an article I saw in the Philippine Daily Inquirer), although this is inconsistent. Wikipedia seeks to use official translations (or, in the lack thereof, widely-used or widely-respected translations), and not translations made by Wikipedians, although there are cases where the translations made by Wikipedians have for the most part been legitimized by government sources (an example here would be on the State of the Nation Address, where the Tagalog translation that I entered on Wikipedia a couple of years ago was used by the PIA). --Sky Harbor (talk) 03:57, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
My guess would be that the many non-speakers of Tagalog don't call it the Libingan ng nga Bayani. I don't speak tagalog and did not provide the translation myself. I don't recall offhand where I got the translation—possibly here, or here, or here, or here, or possibly elsewhere. -- Boracay Bill (talk) 08:20, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
At the same time, most Filipino speakers of English use the Tagalog name. There's this, this, this and this. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo herself called it the Libingan ng mga Bayani and a Senate resolution also called it the Libingan ng mga Bayani. At the same time, translations are also inconsistent. If there's "Cemetery of the Heroes", there's also "Heroes' Cemetery" and "Cemetery of Heroes". The problem here is the audience: Filipinos, the supposed target audience of the article, prefer the Filipino name, while foreigners prefer the English name. It's an issue of which has more authority. If any consensus is reached recommending the use of the English over the Filipino, so be it. --Sky Harbor (talk) 08:34, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but this is the English Wikipedia, not the English Wikipedia for Tagalog speakers. My guess is that by far the majority of English Wikipedia users are not Tagalog speakers. Refer to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English) (an official English Wikipedia policy) which says, "Use the most commonly used English version of the name of the subject as the title of the article, as you would find it in verifiable reliable sources (for example other encyclopedias and reference works)."—which is what I did and what you reverted, and I don't believe that "readers" there is meant to be taken as "readers whose native tongue matches the foreign language at issue". Wikipedia:Naming conventions#Use English words (in another official English Wikipedia policy) says, "Convention: Name your pages in English and place the native transliteration on the first line of the article, unless the native form is more commonly recognized by readers than the English form (again, I don't believe that "readers" there is meant to be taken as "readers whose native tongue matches the foreign language at issue"). Do you and I have a dispute here which needs escalating? I have already turned to others for help; if no help is forthcoming there in a few days, the next step would appear to be WP:RFC.-- Boracay Bill (talk) 11:56, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Elevating disputes is never my forte, and I hate it when I fight with fellow Wikipedians. However, while this may be the English Wikipedia, it is not the English Wikipedia solely for those whose native language is English. I specifically said that if consensus shows that the English name should be used, then so be it, and I will gladly support. It just so happens that English speakers resident in the Philippines, as evident in the sources I provided, prefer the Filipino name over the English name. The goal here is not to propagate a systemic bias: an English name Filipinos are not necessarily familiar with may project a US/UK/CA/AU/NZ-centric bias, while a Filipino name foreigners are not familiar with may appear to propagate a PH-centric bias. I still wish for an amicable solution to this situation, and as I said earlier, in any final consensus, I will gladly support. --Sky Harbor (talk) 14:27, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
My position is (A) that the Wikipedia policies I've mentioned above appear to clearly indicate that the most commonly used English version of the name of the subject should be used as the title of the article, (B) compliance with policy is the expected norm on Wikipedia, and (C) action contrary to policy {i.e., invoking WP:IAR) requires consensus support. Since I am not an admin, I would be unable to rename the article (actually articles -plural-, but we'll start with this latest one: Libingan ng mga Bayani) back to the English name over the now-existing redirect. That being the case, I'll request that the article be renamed back to the English name via WP:RM—in effect treating this as a potentially controversial move. I'll designate Talk:Libingan_ng_mga_Bayani#Rename as the discussion location, will summarize discussion to date there, and will link from there to the discussion fragments here and at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (use English)#Articles with foreign-language names. -- Boracay Bill (talk) 01:27, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Good Day edit

Hi Sky, sorry for me being harsh with some Wikipedians, like Gerard. It is never my intention to deprive them of their liberty here in Wikiworld. I agree that using the block hammer should not be the last resort. Sometimes I act in a reflex mode that I do things swiftly without really making a good decision.

Because one’s comeback could be “a starting anew” of oneself. Their return may give promising contributions here in Wiki. They could be totally new and better Wikipedians this time.

And it is okay with me. Sorry that my way out through is always kinda absolutism. Good day! axrealmdotcom (talk) 08:01, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Adminship edit

Would you like to become an administrator? I could nominate you at WP:RFA, I think you would be a good candidate. TheCoffee (talk) 08:37, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Do you really think I'm up to it? Adminship on the English Wikipedia is far more strenuous (and the workload more demanding) than that of the Tagalog projects. But if you think I am up to it, then I see no reason to oppose. Just another challenge, I guess. --Sky Harbor (talk) 13:28, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
No need to think of it as added workload or responsibility... but it'll give you the tools to be more flexible with the things you usually do. Like making uncontroversial page moves, reverting vandals with one button, protecting troublesome pages, etc. Should be no big deal. I'll prepare a nomination... TheCoffee (talk) 13:58, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Feel free to take your time and read any related policy pages before filling out the nomination and answering the questions. See the other nominations at WP:RFA for some guidance on how to do it right... Good luck! :) TheCoffee (talk) 15:03, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think I'm fairly versed in the policy. I also took the time to read the other nominations. Hopefully all turns well. Wish me luck! --Sky Harbor (talk) 15:10, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I linked the wrong archive there. Changed it to Archive 14. Thanks for pointing it out! :D --Sky Harbor (talk) 16:33, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
You have to transclude the RfA, by the way, before people can see and vote in it. I'm not sure if you know this and are just waiting for now to think some more or if you thought you were done; I'm just making sure. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 22:07, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've gone ahead and transcluded the nomination on the RFA page. The nomination procedure is kind of weird like that, leaving that part to either the nominator or nominee... Anyway, good luck! TheCoffee (talk) 04:46, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I wanted to leave it to Coffee, since me doing it would make it appear as if I had a personal hand in the nomination, which I don't. Anyway, I just hope for the best, whether I earn adminship or not. --Sky Harbor (talk) 07:40, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Comment about Flagged revisions re your comment about vandalism edit

In your RfA, you mentioned that IP vandals are a particular problem on Philippine-language projects. I had been working on a proposal related to IP vandals, but I see that the concepts I would like to implement (delayed revisions) is part of Flagged Revisions. (I'd do it slightly differently, but the main concepts are there.). I understand that the implementation is not yet available in the English Wikipedia due to a bug, but it has been implemented in other places, such as the German version. I left a question at the Village Pump asking about the timing of this for English, and whether there were any reasons this couldn't be implemented in Tagalog - so far no answer, but if you aren't aware of this possibility, you might wish to look into it. Good Luck with your RfA, I supported you.--SPhilbrickT 13:10, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Before I begin, I would like to say that yes, I was not aware of deferred revisions, and thank you for supporting my RfA.
I'm left to wonder why you chose the Tagalog Wikipedia as your target, and I am also not sure why it can't be implemented there. If it is a technical thing, I wouldn't know, but if it's a social/hesitancy thing, then I highly suggest informing the other admins about it as well, since I would bet they are as clueless as I am on it. It may help reduce our vandal-fighting load a bit, and I really hope it does. --Sky Harbor (talk) 16:34, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Nothing mysterious - I picked Tagalog, because I saw your comments about vandalism there. I knew that the FR version was implemented some places, but not others - I posted a question at the VP, hoping to get an answer which I would then pass it along to you, but I'm no longer optimistic about getting a prompt answer. I feel confident the reasons for not implementing are technical rather than social. If I were implementing it, I would set it up so people not on a whitelist have their edits deferred until 15 minutes after editing. Getting on a whitelist could be easy - ten edits without any vandalism reversions, so almost everyone would be on the whitelist. (And means we don't have to differentiate between IP and registered users.) Then vandal fighters could monitor the delayed edits, and not feel like they have to catch them in seconds, they just have to catch them within 15 minutes. People would quickly find that they don't have the shock value of showing a vandalized page to their friends, and I think vandalism would drop materially.
Good luck with your RfA, it seems to be going quite well. I hope after the excitement dies down, you will look into whether the implementation of flagged or deferred revisions would help the Tagalog Wikipedia—I'm looking forward to seeing the bug fixed so it can be tried on the English version.--SPhilbrickT 18:03, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I highly recommend this be marketed to the other administrators of the Tagalog Wikipedia. I'll see what I can do. --Sky Harbor (talk) 02:39, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version.

About the Tagalog (de facto Filipino) Wikipedia edit

How come only the Latin script is used there. I find it quite contradictory that that Wikipedia is titled as "Tagalog" yet only one version of it Filipino. You say there is no official variant as of yet, yet there seem to be a de facto one used there. If only the Filipino language is usable there then why ain't it titled as the "Filipino Wikipedia". I find it really sad that one of our cultural heritage seems to be marginalized in a place like Wikipedia.--23prootie (talk) 04:12, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Do you honestly think that today any Filipino uses Baybayin? Most computers can't even read the script! Inasmuch as I respect the fact that Baybayin is part of our cultural heritage and deserves the utmost respect and preservation, let's be reasonable here: almost all extant Tagalog/Filipino literature is written using the Latin script, with Baybayin being relegated to a field of study by enthusiasts and specialists. Unless there is full text support for the language (entry and display) and people actually use the script in their daily lives (which will probably not happen in either of our lifetimes given current government policies), I don't see the point in using Baybayin in a primarily Latinate Wikipedia. --Sky Harbor (talk) 04:52, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Zapote LRT Station edit

The article Zapote LRT Station has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:CRYSTAL and a search for references on this proposal found nothing at lrta.gov.ph which would be the governing body. As the LTR site does not mention the proposed station, and the only references found are mirrors, this fails WP:V and WP:N as well.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jeepday (talk) 20:57, 27 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

anon ranting edit

AdjustShift already pointed it out to him the validity of my argument in the talk page. That's why the anon erased the blockings here before Pao put in the IP header tag. Apparently that guy has refused to see the writing on the wall and he's covering up what he has done. He's the one who is not civil at nagpapairal ng kayabangan niya. (and upholds his braggadocio) --Eaglestorm (talk) 08:37, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Just to clarify: Apparently, another user talk header was on the page, but the last editor before me blanked it; I only found out through the history page belatedly, after I had initially added a different header. Since it's useless to reinvent the wheel, I just restored the pre-blanking version of the page. Thanks. --- Tito Pao (talk) 08:45, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Baybayin again edit

Could you add tabs for Baybayin in the Tagalog Wikipedia just like the ones in the Kazakh Wikipedia .--ᜊᜓᜅ ᜅ᜔ ᜑᜎᜋᜅ᜔ ᜋᜑᜒᜏᜄ (ᜂᜐᜉ)Baybayin 12:42, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Baybayin is not Cyrillic, which is a living script with actual widespread font support. --Sky Harbor (talk) 13:32, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Technically speaking, Alibata is included in ISO 15924 so it may be considered as a "living script" (if such a case is even possible). Atsaka hindi naman siguro ma-hi-hinder nang paggamit sa iskripturang ito ang kalalabasan at epektibidad ng Wikiediang Tagalog. There is a software out there that can be used for the script. Unfortunately, it is currently in limited use.--ᜊᜓᜅ ᜅ᜔ ᜑᜎᜋᜅ᜔ ᜋᜑᜒᜏᜄ (ᜂᜐᜉ)Baybayin 06:20, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
The problem there is that no one uses Baybayin in modern times. Who on Earth would contribute to the Tagalog Wikipedia primarily using Baybayin? You? Wikipedia is supposed to cater to the greater good of the community: changes are not meant to be if only a few will benefit with negligible effect on everyone else. --Sky Harbor (talk) 10:17, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
I do believe there is a community out there interested in reviving the script (mainly after visiting some sites and forums) and I do believe it may be beneficial for every Filipino in the long run. Then again, it may be premature for me to discuss this because without institutional support (the government) any initiation by anyone to use the script may be worthless.--ᜊᜓᜅ ᜅ᜔ ᜑᜎᜋᜅ᜔ ᜋᜑᜒᜏᜄ (ᜂᜐᜉ)Baybayin 14:06, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Not meaning to play devil's advocate here, but unlike Kazakh, where not everyone who writes the language does so in Cyrillic (Arabic Kazakh is found among Kazakhs in China, while Latin Kazakh is found among Kazakhs throughout the Middle East), almost all Filipinos write Tagalog using the Latin script. Unless there is some significant Tagalog-speaking community somewhere in the world which primarily writes in Baybayin (excluding revivalist groups like the communities you told me earlier), I still do not see the point in adding Baybayin text support. --Sky Harbor (talk) 14:17, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Lambanog edit

Check out the 3RR report I filed. We took the bait, he sez. WTF? IF he didn't even become such a hard-ass by working on the talk page comments in the first place, none of this would have happened! If push comes to shove, I will revert it back to before his edits began and archive everything. He's pissed us off too much with his abrasiveness. I didn't even read further into his LONG statement. I feel the urge to maul his ass offwiki if I ever knew what he looked like. --Eaglestorm (talk) 05:42, 21 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Let me clarify: you, Lemar, Howard and GraYoshi2x took the bait, not me (if there is bait). I am not convinced that Lambanog's behavior is abrasive, although his perceived abrasiveness is perhaps a product of what he believes is heavy-handedness on your (referring to the three of you) part. However, thank you for reporting this to AN, and I hope this gets resolved quickly. This is getting out of hand as it is, and if I can't solve it, maybe the other admins can. --Sky Harbor (talk) 10:28, 21 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Manila MRT/LRT map edit

You're more of an expert on this subject than I am... What article can this map go on, and how can it be improved? Also, what should I do to update the PNR map? :) I never used the PNR and don't know what needs changing, if anything. TheCoffee (talk) 14:28, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

For one, there's only one North Avenue station (the LRT and MRT are now directly connected), while the proposed Grand Central Terminal (not sure if this will be the final name) will be built in front of SM City North EDSA. Santolan station (MRT-2) should be located on the border between Marikina and Pasig, since that is how it is normally shown on Metro Manila maps. MRT-7 can also be put there, and an SRTS map (which includes the PNR from Caloocan until Alabang) would be good as well. Other than that, that should be okay (this is where having a Metro Manila map comes in handy). I really wish though we can have a modern map that does not need to constrain itself to the geographic representation of SRTS lines.
As for the PNR map: Malolos, San Fernando, Angeles, Lucena and Santa Cruz, Laguna are also terminal stations which are missing from the map. The Balagtas-Cabanatuan branch line is also missing. A national map (or even a map of Luzon) should help.
Other than those, the maps should be okay. --Sky Harbor (talk) 14:57, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Manila LRT edit

So, um, what are your plans regarding the article? Lambanog (talk) 11:51, 5 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've been busy with finishing up plans for Wikimedia Philippines (WMPH), so I do apologize for not working on the article in the last few days. There are two major parts which need to be done:
  • Trimming the incidents section and spinning everything off into a new article
  • Expansion of the future expansion section
I'm also thinking of putting the LRV pictures into a separate gallery within the article so that it does not take up too much space. --Sky Harbor (talk) 10:31, 7 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Ph seal quezon mauban.png edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Ph seal quezon mauban.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Manila Light Rail Transit System Review edit

I want to check in and see if you've been following the FAR process and the criticisms being raised there and get your reaction. I've been removing and changing things in response to them and I want to avoid misunderstandings. The alert chart was in the opinion of one reviewer a bit excessive and I cannot find a source describing the current scheme in writing. I know it is valid but through means that might be interpreted as original research. Do you wish to ignore the reviewer's criticisms? Lambanog (talk) 03:47, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have been following the FAR, actually. The table is valid because while the LRTA does not update their website (it still uses the old Code Yellow 1/2 scheme which has since been deprecated in favor of the current scheme), the scheme is plastered all over the LRT, in passenger assistance offices and the like. I am not inclined on calling it OR because the sources are there (they're just not online), but if you feel the table does not fit the current scheme of things, feel free to remove it. --Sky Harbor (talk) 08:06, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of List of ZIP codes in the Philippines edit

I have nominated List of ZIP codes in the Philippines, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of ZIP codes in the Philippines. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. After Midnight 0001 11:25, 15 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

User:Cybervision on Tagalog Wikipedia edit

This guy attacked me personally twice in tl.wiki, the last one, posted on my talkpage, after giving him warnings regarding his unsourced articles. He also admitted that the is an employee of the company that produced tl:All About ADAM, an article he created. I would like to request if this user can be blocked indefinitely for the grounds of WP:CIVIL and WP:COI. Hoping for your swift action. Thanks. -WayKurat (talk) 16:08, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

BLP - - Filipino Living Person edit

Hi! I am inviting you to join the discussions here. Here is the link. I am trying to prove to the #1 critic-editor of the subject that the lead section of the Eli Soriano article is POV (not to mention poorly-sourced) and more importantly, libelous. Trust me, it's notable (talk) 08:01, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Meetup edit

Hi, I will be in Philippines from start of next month so would like to meet with fellow Filipino WPs. Because I will stay in Davao during my visit, I was thinking of planning a meetup in Davao city but I do not see any potential. Thank you! --Saki talk 15:38, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

To be fair, the vast majority of Wikipedians are based in Manila, with smaller communities interspersed throughout the Philippines. I'm sure it won't hurt asking around. Or, if you're ever in Manila, come organize a meetup here. :D --Sky Harbor (talk) 16:40, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
How about planning a meetup in Manila on 3rd or 4th of July? ;) --Saki talk 16:47, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
It's a bit soon, but I don't see the harm of suggesting it on the Tambayan. --Sky Harbor (talk) 17:20, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Go ahead. I'll surely attend. --Saki talk 19:09, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wow. The last time I touched the page was in 2006. I was thinking of deleting it, but I was perhaps too lazy to do so. At any rate, feel free to delete it as needed. :) --Sky Harbor (talk) 04:13, 7 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Manila hostage crisis edit

There are concerns that the Manila hostage crisis article, as it currently stands, may be biased towards the Hong Kong perspective. As an experienced editor from Manila, would you please help improve the article, especially in places where the views of Manila media deserve more mention? Thanks! --Deryck C. 15:09, 31 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Signpost edit

Hi, I have written a short note about the debut of Wikimedia Philippines for the upcoming issue of the Signpost, which you are welcome to review. If you find any inaccuracies or have suggestions on what to add, edits are still possible until publication time, which likely will be during Monday afternoon (UTC). It's a bit of a pity that none of these photos are available on Commons - or are they? -; one or two would have made a nice illustration to the story.

In general, the Signpost is always open to interesting news or reports from chapters, or Wikimedia projects other than the English Wikipedia. While local meetups or the like are normally not very newsworthy, our readers can assumed to be interested in unusual projects or collaborations (cf. a Dutch and a French example in this week's issue), or descriptions of an entire project, with its history and particularities, which we publish in our "Sister project reports" section.

Regards, HaeB (talk) 23:14, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wow, we're on the Signpost! I'll be sure to review that bit on WMPH hopefully within today. :)
There are actually pictures of the event on Meta, but not on Commons. Feel free to transfer them to Commons for the Signpost's use. I stand corrected: there are pictures on Commons. You can see them at Category:Wikimedia Philippines at Y4IT. --Sky Harbor (talk) 01:31, 20 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Was talking with HaeB and saw this. You might be interested that there's a new facility for subscribing to the weekly Signpost, by adding one's name to this list. Thanks! Tony (talk) 16:18, 20 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

SRTS update as of 2010 edit

Dear Mr/Ms. Sky Harbor,

According to the extended SRTS system of the Government, PNR Northrail from malolos to Clark/Mabalacat and PNR Southrail from Muntinlupa to Binan are included for the Strong republic transit system".The "Strong Republic" programs of ex-PGMA like the Strong republic transit system and strong republic nautical highway is a nationwide project not a metro manila only project. Lastly even though PNR Southrail is also called "Filtrack", Filtrack is only the branding of the PNR for its former Commuter express which is only the metro manila segments. The rest is called as PNR-Southrail and Northrail is Still PNR Northrail for even though Northrail will be partially owned by NLRC it is still under PNR operations.

PS. For futher references pls visit these websites: [3] then find "stations" [4] then find "southrail project"

Hoping for your understanding and Cooperation, -JeromeSandilanico —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeromesandilanico (talkcontribs) 05:16, 30 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Actually, the SRTS is a Metro/Mega Manila-only project, precisely because it calls for the integration of Metro Manila's three railway networks (LRT, MRT, PNR Commuter Express) into a single system. All SRTS maps, particularly those which advertise the SRTS on the LRT, only show Northrail Phase I (Caloocan-Malolos) and the North-South Linkage Project Phase I (Caloocan-Tutuban-Alabang) as part of the system. Additionally, Phase II of the North-South Linkage Project is not included in the SRTS because long-distance trains, not commuter trains, serve stations beyond Alabang, and Northrail Phase II is not included because the future of this project is very much still in limbo. However, there is the possibility that the former may be included in the future, but this I do not know since I cannot foretell the moves of this administration.
It appears that your basis for including Northrail Phase II and the North-South Linkage Project Phase II is based on your synthesis/interpretation of your research to come to this conclusion that the SRTS was "extended". Synthesis research is considered original research, and is not allowed per Wikipedia's editing policies. Now unless there is definitive proof of the SRTS being extended, like a map, I'm not sure if the information posted in the navbox can be considered valid. I will also be consulting with my colleague, Mithril Cloud, who also edits rail-related articles, on this matter, and I will likewise try to get his position on the matter.
Finally, may I suggest signing your username using four tildes (~~~~). Thanks. --Sky Harbor (talk) 06:14, 30 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
It's been a while since I used Wikipedia talk pages (lol) but anyway. As long as there isn't any official reference specifically pointing out updates to the SRTS (which I doubt, with SRTS being a GMA project), this template should be left alone. --mithrilcloud 15:27, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Are you suggesting then that all relevant edits be reverted? There's also the issue of those Northrail stations that were created. --Sky Harbor (talk) 04:24, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
From what I've observed, those station articles seem to be made in speculation. -- mithrilcloud 04:45, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well, most of those stations were former PNR stations, so perhaps they can be saved. The San Fernando City railway station article can be merged into San Fernando railway station (Pampanga) with a possible new name (like San Fernando (Pampanga) railway station as to distinguish from San Fernando (La Union) railway station) while the ones for Dau/Angeles and Clark/DMIA can be deleted for now. The two Caloocan station articles (Northrail and Southrail) should also be merged into Caloocan railway station.
There's also the issue of all those nav templates as well. --Sky Harbor (talk) 05:05, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps you can inform him about certain editing guidelines. --mithrilcloud 15:13, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
