I've had it for a few months and I requested that you had it as soon as I was granted it. But the admin (who was a teenager) who was reviewing it wouldn't comply. I said you do a lot of revertion of articles from vandalism. Basically you click rollback and it reverts any edits made by the last person instantly evne if they have made ten edits. I said this would be very useful for you in particularly but he said something about you not always reverting vandalism and often reverting valid additions. He said it shouldn't be abused. Well I disagreed and think you have a pretty good idea of what should be kept or not. Hello Shahid, my name is Diya. I am quite new here in wikipedia (just opened my account today :)...). Anywaz, I was just reading the Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna page and i thought maybe i could add something extra- the thing that i want to add is that many people complain that songs didnt match the movie at all, but i felt that Karan Johar had actually placed the songs very well and had given subtle clues (for once in a Bollywood movie, the songs are actually carrying the movie along and they is a story within the song itself). So, i thought maybe i could write them down, so that people can understand and appreciate Karan's work and understand this movie better. I have the feeling you are the administrator (you are in charge of this, right?), so i was hoping to have your permission in writing on that page (it's not much and very interesting :). Yeah, I am currently back to university. I had the last week off but I am back to university again. Urghhhh!! :( Hey Shahid, did you see the poster of Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor's forthcoming movie Main Aur Mrs.Khanna This is another confusing thing. I am going to create the page later [You can create it if you want] but I wanted to ask you something. According to the poster, the title of the film is Main Aur Mrs.Khanna. Should we create the page with that name or Main Aur Mrs. Khanna. Note: The only difference between the two is the space between the period and Khanna. LOL. Although I did not read the article lately, I quickly went through the GA assessment. And after reading the assessment, I feel it is time to take the article to FAC. This "western reviews needed" will not hold good in FAC. I mean, FAC has a broader audience, and this argument will not be entertained. Sandy has also hinted this in her comment in the talk page.

The review tells that prose is ok. Images are also ok. I did not understand that comment, "I continue to be unsure what kind of degree she attained". What did the reviewer mean? In any case, it's time for FAC I guess.--Dwaipayan (talk) 08:43, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Blocking links

Hi. It's not my place to go on at you so I won't. I'm not saying that all people in Indian film deserve an article but can you please be careful with the links you shut off. I see you unwikified the missing links on Patthar Ke Phool which potentially shut off a string of new articles and filling in links on many other actors pages. I started Anant Balani and therefore filled in the missing articles Mumbai Matinee, Ek Din 24 Ghante‎ and Jazbaat (1994 film) which rids of links in over ten articles. Also starting Nirmal Jani rids of 17 red links on various film pages. I know you are busy and occupied at present but I would rather the red links were stubbed (if notable) rather than blocking them off. Please feel free if you come across an article where there are too many red links and I'll be happy to start the articles quickly. I'm sure really you would rather the articles were created rather than not. Yep thats what I'm saying. Those one time editors etc or cinematographers with two films etc or whatever should be quite rightly be shut off just leave the notable ones linked. I hate red links too!! -which is why I create so many articles. Hello friend! Thanks. It feels like I've been away ages. Well it wasn't just his comment -I'm tired of people trying to put me off and I think it is unneccesary to be cynical to others. My talk page is not a dumping ground for such comments and despite my warnings people still come and try to put me off the site!. I am very surprised that nobody has continued with the French town project much; it seems to have come to a stand still for whatever reason, wow I didn't realise people that some people were inspired by my work and was a factor in making them contribute. If in any way I do encourage other editors then this is a great thing and will make me feel like doing the best that I can for people. A couple of days ago there were five editors at least actively adding them. Amazing - people have started adding working on the french articles already in the last few minutes!!! That must be a coincidence surely?

It is always the content and potential of the site and the kindness of the editors I like so much on here that outshines any negative aspects of wikipedia. If only there were more editors like yourselves. I;m so happy for you that the dark cloud has been lifted off Zinta and she has been promoted. I am certain it could be an FA in a few weeks and then you'll be rocking!! But all in your own time, you probably need a breather from it.

Not if they are just views and there isn't any concievable evidence to justify it. A historical accuracy section is very useful but it can be tricky writing it so it doesn't appear POV or disputable. Perhaps you could write it as "historians such as .... have argued that ... was never married to .... as depicted in the film although there is little evidence to confirm this". Something like that perhaps. I think you both mean to improve the article but I agree, this editor needs to be aware of all the points you brought up and to avoid looking too much into it and to write it from a neutral and balanced neutral viewpoint e.g "historians have speculated" rather than something was something. Thats why he mentioned it to insult me - because he had seen the previous question and answer on the talk pages - i think he was not happy with me telling the other editor it doesn;t concern me in the slightest that a boy is tagging my articles for deletion as we all know what the outcome will be, so he retaliated. I could certainly use admin tools at times, but becoming an admin would put me out of focus on concentrating on adding content, which I feel is the most important and what this site is about -too many people get put off from this. I don't feel I need a badge to establish status and would rather feel freer, although it would certainly give these trespassers more respect for me initally. I've seen relatively new editors rush to make them get around 10,000 edits and rush to do some good chores and then have somebody to request them for adminship. Phew I think the French communes have all been started now for every department -36,000 articles with the exception of one department that somebody is working on!!! Its been some run and I;m glad several editors have been working at it, but now it is important a few editors combine to begin developing them from useless stubs. I remain optimistic that eventually they'll all develop fully, but they had to be started from somewhere, and raw power creating them was the best way to do it given the sheer content missing. I suffered for it though!! I created the box below to connect them all, now they need to begin development -fast!! We now have the whole country of France on english wikipedia, but they need serious development!! but better than missing completely. I watched some old 30s films like The Big Trail, The Lawless Frontier and Mutiny on the Bounty 1935, did some weights and some swimming down the leisure centre. I have also begun learning french, and have been looking through some of the dictionaries I have on that. Other than that I have been browsing through some of the cultural videos on youtube on various ethnic groups and countries around the world and music-fascinating. Sometime the Cardiff library will reopen and I will be able to get hold of some specialist books to write some good articles on wikipedia, related to the far east. The key to wikipedia is organization and research and there are so many books which have information on topics which are poorly covered on google (which people seem to delude themselves that google finds anything). I am certain there are some books on Bollywood that could be obtained to take some of our articles to the next level. This is the kind of research I think is so important than just web based research. The best thing I think to do is to search for something on Amazon.com -the best book seller on the web, write down a list of the best books you see and see if you can find them in the library. Often many of the books are very expensive so borrowing them is probably better. I know I've been looking for some books on Tibet and His Holiness the Dalai Lama but they are rather expensive. Other than this you can google search under books, and related books come up, some of them e-books. I know I remember some guy fussing before that Joe Satriani wasn't a virtuoso guitar player because it is POV. I don't know what it is but I get very enthusiastic about directors such as Satyajit Ray, Sergio Leone, Kurosawa and Abbas Kiarostami because I see them as creative artists, their films as works of art, which as you know is central to me, I get all excited whenever I talk about auteurs like that. Did you know that everyone of my father's six brothers and sisters is a painter and a writer or both!! Four of them including my dad is a painter, and the rest writers. Jennifer Sullivan is three years older than my dad. ( my Aunty Josephine and Aunty Val are both). My god check out this. You can now install download a virtual earth from microsoft. Basically it is a satellite map which is now in 3D (this is what I have visualized for years but wasn't aware it existed yet. Anywhere on the planet you can zoom in and see places in 3d. Welcome to the 21st century. This is why I do so much work on geo articles as I;m certain soon enough wikipedia will have 3d maps of places and people can browse towns and cities through the streets, select a building and the article in cities like NYC and Singapore etc. Amazing isn't it. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to install. I'm sure soon enough this can be done for wikipedia and we can view articles on towns and monuments, bridges, rivers etc and see them in 3d on a map. Just been reading Josquin des Prez and two things that immediately jumpred out at me were "increasingly prominent" and "were probably created". Its a very good article but it isn't perfect. Those are the sorts of things that should be avoided. "There is a growing number of films made entirely in English." sounds much clearer I think. For Christmas I had this gorgeous book 501 places to visit - it is a mini encyclopedia on all the most beautiful locations in the world with stunning photographs. You know the Blofeld sort of rich cultural book. I love all those lonely planet guides too with all the photographs in. Thankyou. I just don't know why people have to be so rude and awkward. All they have to do is nicely ask me to try to expand something or tell me the article already exists but no they have to afd something straight away or poke fault with it. They just won't learn that any articles I have created are always kept and that they are wasting their time trying to get in the way. If I could translate from all these peculiar languages such as Estonian and Norwegian I would!!! Its only because I care about even coverage on here.

Wikipedia word count is now over 986,000,000. In a week or two it'll hit 1 billion words which is monumental I think. i update the wikipedia main page every week-10 days or so and since Feb 20 when I last did it we've added 27,000 articles and 12 million words ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ ^$1,000,000? 18:40, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Kareena Kapoor

Hey buddy, I didn't say that she was ranked third for three consecutive years. I indicated that Kapoor ranked fourth on Filmfare's "Top Actresses" list for three consecutive years (2003-05) whilst she later ranked sixth and third in 06 and 07 respectively. I will try to find references for that as soon as I can. As for this setence "Top Bollywood Female Stars" have also varied over the past four years, with the most notable one being third in 2004 and 2007 respectively" Do you suggest there is another way to rephrase it. The reason I didn't include all the year rankings was the same reason as Preity Zinta's article. I included the rankings for 04, 06, and 07. I just didn't include the one from 05. I wish stacked refs [1] were allowed instead of having [1][2][3] and so on. Maybe something like this. At first glance, hindisong.com does not sound to be reliable! However, the thing that is used from that site is an interview with Sen. The reliability of the source often is weighed on the context. The filming locations for Tashan looks interesting. As you know I very much love Ladakh and northern India and related culture because it is very similar and often overlapping with Tibet. A year in Indian film is a huge amount of a wait isn't it. It should be interesting to see Zinta in those demanding art film roles though. Of course it is well referenced and fairly well written it's just for me the content isn't there and detailed enough for that I would consider the material for an FA either but that also is my view.

I was kidding lol, it would take centuries to do that lol! But I can certainly try to fill in the picture a bit when I have got some time. I reckon in terms of decent content or potential articles that could be written into beuatiful articles if enough sources were found and sheer amount of missing films and cinema characters has to be France and Italy. Unfortunately there are only a handful of editors who have developed Italian film on here and I don't know what has happneed to them these days. Rohmerin rarely edits anymore I don't think, and my old amico User:Attilios the Italian who also shares my love of Italian architecture and art I haven't spoken to him in ages. Which is frankly not good enough given the world reach of wikipedia. But as you said before most normal editors only edit the films they have seen and most of the people likely to have seen these films are Italian and work on Italian wikipedia. Yes his middle name was Reuben and he looked exactly like a rabbi lol (as an old man)!!! Almost sterotypically so. He died 15 years ago but nobody seems to know much about the Jewish side of the family unfortunately. From what my dad told me he thinks it was my great great grandfather who emigrated to France from the eastern europe/middle east and married a Hugeunot French woman. They later moved to London. The french and jewish ancestry is quite clear on my dad's side of the family - incidentally his middle name is Deland which is obviously French and an extremely rare name in the UK.

On my mums side I have Swedish and Scottish ancestry, this is also obvious with how I look anyway. On her side most of the people are tall with fairer hair and skin and blue eyes. It is indeed very interesting tracing your family. Adminship

I tell you what I'm getting sick and tired of not having admin tools. Its ridiculous that I don't have them. Some of my flickr images I uploaded now have been tagged for deletion in the commons, Riana is now doing little to help because she is always busy, and i tag my own articles for deletion it is days before somebody sees that I might have some idea of whether the places exists and eventually deletes it. If I had admin tools I could do thing a LOT LOT more quickly and effciently. Oh its not vandalism I am concerned about in this respect -I have roll back which is the only tool I have. Its trusting me to sort out articles and to make flickr agreements. Imagine how many agreements i could quickly make if they just let me contact people at flickr and authorise clearance. I sick of waiting weeks and not getting a reply from the commons and then getting a message from some commons editor who only logs into the project once a week that my images have not got the ticketing, when I could have it OTRS ticketed the minute I receive permission. It is seriously inhibiting how productive I am particularly with images. I have done tens times more than many admins on here to coordinate this project and I find it a bit silly that they can't give me the authorisation to do things which will be very beneficial to this project ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ ^$1,000,000? 15:07, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind becoming an admin if I was allowed to continue as I have been before and not feel under any obligation to patrol vandalism or recent changes or continuously attend wiki councils or whatever. If I just had the tools and could continue editing on what I feel is important -actual content and occasionally intervene or whatever where I need to this would be best. But something tells me all those niggling editors who I have run into in the past would oppose it and find several examples of where I have been in their eyes "uncivil" and I'd end up looking foolish. Well I'm sure most people would support, some probably even strongly but all I ask for is the ability for people to trust my judgement with deletions and images with flickr. I don't know if you have noticed but in the new pages because I am not an admin my new articles have to be checked like a beginner whereas admins some with 1/15th of my edits have their articles automatically patolled as if they were a superior creature!!! Perhaps but I don't want to get bogged down with wiki councils and well... administration. I'm not here to administer people, I'm here to enhance this freakishly large site beyond belief and build something never seen before. I would be last person who could careless about "abusing" his admin rights to block enemies etc, so if they just gave me the tools it can only help. Well the work i do on wikipedia - stubbing en masse, recategorization, tagging, template adding etc, with geo, film and cultural articles maximizes my edit count probably more than any other subject on wikipedia so its just a figure. I've been reading over your user page and I find some of the commentary on Indian cinema interesting. A lot of it I agree with: Manisha is a great actress especially in those more sullen less glamorous roles (Bombay, Dil Se) although her skill even kept me watching Market and Escape From Taliban *shudders*. But really you like Karisma and Preity? Preity was fine in Dil Se because she was sort of an annoying foil to Manisha. She was better in Kal Ho Naa Ho... maybe because she wasn't right next to Manisha which will obviously make her look bad :) I'll have to watch Fiza.

And I just noticed you listed me on your page :O That's nice... but, I'm not a good editor. Best work I did was the grunt work of film infoboxes. Zora on the other hand... she was a great editor and it's sad that she completely left... :/

Placeholder

I've noticed on certain articles that the placeholder image seems to encourage uploading fair use images, which then have to be deleted as copyright violations. ALL articles can use images, so you don't really need a placeholder as a "request". Gimmetrow 14:35, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
