Welcome to Wikipedia! edit

Dear Shanem201,

Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any discussion comment with two hyphens followed by four tildes --~~~~. The software that runs Wikipedia will automatically convert this into a signature which contains your username and the date and time you posted the message, so other users don't get confused.

I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself on your userpage.

Image copyright problem with Image:Image013.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Image013.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:23, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Wildthing61476 18:17, 24 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I understand, however if the article does meet the standards for speedy deletion, it will be deleted, regardless of what is placed in the talk page. Wildthing61476 18:31, 24 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm usually doing new page/recent change patrol, which is why the article is marked quickly. As for removing right after a hangon is placed, I couldn't tell you, I'm not an admin yet, and not sure why they will delete so quickly after a hangon is placed. In the case of the article about the school's drama group though, unless they have numerous independent sources explaining why they are ntable, it's a sure bet to be deleted. Sandbox edit

Please do not conduct testing in the main article space. If you want to create a personal sandbox, that's great, but please use a subpage of your user page. For instance, User:Shanem201/Sandbox. FreplySpang 22:23, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re:translation req edit

Hi - I suggest you ask Aksi great, Srikeit and drop a general request at WT:INB. I'm fluent in Gujarati but I've never used the fonts. I'd love to help in any other way, Rama's arrow 00:35, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I will be glad to help you out. Please tell me which article you want translated. I have exams going on just now. I will be able to help you after 15 November. Do leave me a message if I don't get back to you by the 16th. Regards, - Aksi_great (talk) 07:21, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for reminding me. Exams went well. I will start working on the article soon. I will attempt a translation without Gujarati fonts first (ie Gujarati using English alphabet) and then move to using Gujarati script. I will start translating at User:Aksi great/Translation soon. - Aksi_great (talk) 16:00, 19 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Viking.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Viking.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Parsippany SC edit

The article Parsippany SC has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Youth clubs aren't considered notable. NawlinWiki 03:08, 22 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Super Y and U-20 are still youth-level. The Wikipedia consensus has been to only include clubs at the professional level. NawlinWiki 03:14, 22 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tags are to alert administrators for pages that should be deleted. Because I'm an administrator, I can delete pages myself if they meet the criteria for deletion. NawlinWiki 03:29, 22 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to ARS! edit

Hi, Shanem201, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron WikiProject! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles and content that have been nominated for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, ergo fixable, and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles and content to quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again — Welcome! Addbot (talk) 00:01, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Image013.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Image013.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:37, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

If it's on your High School website, then you need to get someone from your High School ( most likely the Principal) to release the image under a suitable license such as Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:15, 11 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
