Pakistan

RFC on Pakistan is dead now, I've asked for a formal closure... turned out that the initiator (Morsecoder) was using five accounts to stack !votes (which are all blocked now). What's the plan about FAC? We can nominate it when you get some free time on your hand. Talk about desperation :-/ smh at Morsecoder. As for FAC I'm totally up for it. FAQ section I see remains incomplete, but I guess as long as its not tagged on talk page, FAC can still go through. Same with merging of Kashmir. I will login every night to improve as FAC suggestions will go. • The FAC was almost idle since nine days, so I asked one of the reviewers who said FACs are archived if there's no support vote in three weeks. On his advise, I've asked some active FAC editors give their views. One has dropped some objections and I guess more will be coming in soon. I'm not sure.. those seem to be an opinion of the reviewer... a rephrase might do. Let's try a rephrase and see if that fixes it? About the further reading.. yes that section is supposed to contain unique reading material that is not already referenced in the article. For the source... Sorry for being a bit slow with the editing. Some fake accounts were disrupting articles, got half occupied with those. We've got a response at RSN. Those sources are said to be non reliable in terms of FAC. I'm thinking of either removing the content totally or adding other sources. Hey, I've added most of the pdf pages. Transport one are a little more time taking so will do them tomorrow. Can you check the pdf source in the Science and Technology vouching the 1st two lines? The lines seems very flowery & superficial. See if they can be replaced with a better intro and source. Plus one Gobalsecurity link remain which vouch the pakistan border to gulf of Omkan, as this line is also in the lead I'm not removing it for now. Are we using Britannica in the article? [1] [2] (for Gulf of Oman). The Arabian Sea article is using this map [3] as a source (maps are reliable sources). This one also contains the information though not directly linking Gulf of Oman with Pakistan but giving some what of coordinates [4]. The next few references in the paragraph also revolve around the same. Gah, but you're handling it good! I see Mar4 is also becoming active on Talk Page. I'm trying my best to reply to complaints at the FAC page, plus make changes per FAC. Page 9, really doesn't have anything exact related to the text in question, so I'll see and replace it with something; because as you can see there is already too much complaints about text to source match in fac. Ok, I'll quote the text, "One of the key objectives of the conference was to find out ways and means to create an extensive data- base of the scientists and institutions involved in the field of nano-science and technology, so that national policy can be focused to strengthen the knowledge available in this promising field and to develop programmes of basic and applied research." There's another sentence referring to the objectives being to include policy-makers. This gives the context of the importance. The paragraph previous to this is about socio-economic betterment though all in context, if you can replace.. that will be good enough to have something discussing the policy in its own accord rather than just context. Better to add another reference and keep both? Yeah, I was also thinking of tweaking that line as the user has some point and there's no need to create confusion for the reader (we, reading that in the history class, will probably not be confused but others might). I asked these users: [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10], so you can probably as others.. there's no page unlike peer review to list volunteers so I took them off the users involved at WP:FAC commenting on other FACs so you can do that too as there one weak to go before which we need atleast one support vote to prevent this getting archived. Pakistan copy edit

Hi September88. I've finished now, excepting oversights. After copy editing for FAC I like to keep an article on my watchlist to see its fate at FAC, so will notice if anything comes up, but I'll only be watching for prose issues in the narrow sense from now on. If there's a flurry of activity, I'll wait till it dies down.

One thing I did notice: the Pakistan page loads slower for me than almost any other article, and it pauses for many seconds even after the status bar says "done". Another thing that happens on this and no other page that I know of, is that if I have it at the front and then bring up another window over the top of it, this page quite often jumps back in and grabs the focus again. I haven't been able to figure out why, but I wonder if it's doing something active all the time, maybe to do with the switches (are they really a good idea?)

Reply's a little late, but thanks a lot for the very detailed CE. Its also nice to keep it in watchlist because ce can be needed anytime. As to the late load time, I've found the same problem with other large articles as well, so can't say if its specific, but I guess we can try to figure out if the problem increases. Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up Participation: Out of 41 people who signed up this drive, 28 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing July, August, September and October 2011 from the backlog. This means that, for the first time since the drives began, the backlog is less than a year. At least 677 tagged articles were copy edited, although 365 new ones were added during the month. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September. Unfortunately, for the first time in GOCE history, the number of articles in the backlog has actually gone up during this drive. While all participants are currently doing a fine job, we just don't have as many of them as we have had in the past. We have over 500 editors on our mailing list, but only 18 editors who have done a copy edit for the drive. If you're receiving this newsletter, it's because you have an interest in copy editing. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge!
