HEllo! Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. As you stated there is a dialogue box at the top of my article. I have made edits to the article (per dialogue box) and was asking for help on how to submit for someone to review my new edits. I did not realize it was already in main space- YIKES! @Rortiz246: Hi, having only a brief glance at the article now, I think that it could be improved if you added a few more inline citations to the article (the ones in the <ref> tags). I think that there are an OK amount of references on the page too. I've also removed the {{underlinked}} template, but, I've added the {{orphan}} template, as no other articles in the mainspace link there, see here for help on how to "de-orphan" it. PET FILM

Hi seagull123, thank you for your help and informative message. I apologize in advance if I've unintentionally breached some wikipedia rules, as this is all new to me, so sorry if I misused the site. Indeed, Pet (film) does have what you would consider a conflict on interests with me, as I am the director. However, the problem is that the information listed under "release" is simply not accurate, and can be very simply disproven by checking boxofficemojo, the leading authority on film box office http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=pet2016.htm

All I want is for my case to be reviewed- I found wrong facts about my film on wikipedia, found the sources to prove them wrong, so I just want the entry to be taken down or corrected. How do I go about accomplishing that? Is it possible to ask an editor to please evaluate the sources I'm providing, in order to change the erroneous content on my film?

Last but not least, once the wrong content is down, and I want to edit the new one, you suggest I run it by an editor first. Do I use the Teahouse for that? Or should I post it on your TALK page, for example?

Hi seagull123, I actually ended up not making any edits on the Pet page. Instead, I discussed my case with Alex Shih, an editor here at wikipedia, and just disproved some incorrect information with evidence to back it up. He then removed the false content himself, but again, I didn't directly edit or add anything to the site. Is that still considered a conflict of interests? At the end of the day, I didn't modify or add anything to the page, and just gave a heads up on some incorrect data. I'm just letting you know that, although I'm actually fine with the COI claim at the top of the page if you think it's still deserved. Best,

Hi @Carles Torrens, I believe you have made edits to the Pet (film) page, which you can see if you look at some of your first contributions, such as here or here. However, there is nothing wrong with this - my belief is that Wikipedia guidelines are that editors with COIs are just strongly advised not to edit articles they have a connection with. To answer your question, you have a COI regardless of whether you edit the page or not, as this won't affect your connection to the article subject. You may wish to read this page regarding help available for editors with COIs. Also, as a further point, when you leave a message on a talk page, please leave new discussions at the bottom of the talk page. This can be done by clicking the "Add topic" button instead of the "Edit" or "Edit source" button (you can read more about this here).  Seagull123  Φ  16:52, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Seagull123. Thanks for your note on my stub. I haven't participated in Wikipedia before and I am trying to be compliant but the documentation is very confusing for me as a new user. First, I'd like to immediately make clear my bias and conflict as a connected contributor paid on the stub page's talk tab, but I am having trouble understanding how to get the {{connected contributor (paid)}} to function on that tab. What am I missing? I also have a suggestion for the following changes: refimprove (I assume this is add more secondary sources - working on it) stub (we're a small agency, but of significant notoriety in our industry, so not sure I can provide more detail) and categorized (not sure how to add better categories or what they should be). Hi @CWAlexBrown: so are you saying that you are paid to edit on Wikipedia? This is an important point, and I suggest you read this page about it. If you are, the code you could use for the template would be: {{Connected contributor (paid) | checked = | User1 = CWAlexBrown| U1-employer = <insert employer here> | U1-client = <insert client here> | U1-EH = yes | U1-banned = | U1-otherlinks = <insert link to declaration> }}, replacing <insert employer here> with the name of your employer, <insert client here> with the name of the client, and <insert link to declaration> with a link to a declaration of yours that you have been paid to edit here - this could be a comment on a talk page, or, a link to your user page if you use the {{Paid}} template (ask me if you want help adding this link). There is a relatively simple guide to disclosing if you've been paid here. There is a page about the help available for editors with conflicts of interest, which you may also wish to read. In terms of the cleanup templates left on your article, {{refimprove}} does indeed mean add more secondary sources, you could try the reference desk for help finding them, or the template I've left on the right, you may have to click [show] (-->). If you need help adding the references to the article, see referencing for beginners. For more help about categories, see this page - basically, you add categories with the following sort of code: [[Category:Companies]], changing "Companies" to whatever category you wish to add the article to. The article you are talking about - ChurchWest Insurance Services - has been proposed for speedy deletion, under the A7 criteria. If the page is deleted, you may wish to rewrite an article with the Article Wizard, after having read Your First Article. However, I would advise you to make sure there are enough reliable sources to prove that, in Wikipedia's eyes, the company is notable. Thank you so much for your help and suggestions and for stating them so clearly. I am new to this and still learning so I appreciate it and thank you for your patience with me. My article titled Dirk Coetsee was not accepted because the reviewer objected to my use of Google Search as a reference. Once I reviewed the references in question, I realized that I had copied and pasted the wrong references. In fact, I did have valid references but I mistakenly copied and pasted the wrong ones (I should rather edit articles during the day than late at night). I have spent some time reading your suggestions which have been very valuable. My only motivation in writing these articles ("Dirk Coetsee" and "Coetsenburg") was to inform people about the subjects and I spent several days writing and researching to try to make them as neutral as possible. I have noticed that there are a number of things in and around the town of Stellenbosch in South Africa that aren't covered in Wikipedia articles so I hope that my small contributions can help in this regard. I'm sure you are busy, but if you find some time, I would be grateful if you could have a look, and accept if you think they are suitable. Hello again @Philemon Matilda: and thank you for your contributions and efforts here. I don't doubt your attempts to be neutral while writing, however, I do encourage you to make sure you've read the links I've left for you at the help desk about COIs. I am not an Articles for Creation reviewer, so I am unable to review the drafts and "publish" them. But having a quick look at Draft:Dirk Coetsee, I would encourage you to make sure that all references are to reliable sources, as I don't believe Quora is reliable (used in ref #23), or ref #34, from "Wikitree". Basically, if the website can be edited by anyone (regardless if they are anonymous, or if they have to login), it is generally not considered a reliable source, as far as I can believe (this is why Wikipedia is not considered a reliable source for use in Wikipedia). You also mention the book by Susan Newton-King, and you are able to add this to the article yourself! You don't need someone else to say you can. Southpointe Academy page

Hi, I'm new to editing on Wikipedia so I apologize if I have breached any Wikipedia rules. I am trying to edit the Southpointe wikipedia page and I used a couple of paragraphs up on the Southpointe website. It gave me a notice that the page may be up for speedy deletion - but I could delete the notice if I was planning on fixing the issue. I decided to edit the text and deleted the notice in the process - I now realize I cannot do that on a page I have created myself. Thanks for your help. I've read all the info on creating articles but still learning navigation of the process. I deleted the main page entry I started and moved the text to my Sandbox, which didn't carry over the formatting, but I'm not going to worry about that for now. I'm sorry about creating confusion but will perservere!

Advice on copyright on the Help Desk

I was making improvements to Wikipedia:Help desk/Are you in the right place. This page has two talk pages for copyright problems but not Commons:Village pump/Copyright, which you sent several people to in response to Help Desk questions.

I was wondering if you know when it appropriate to use that talk page rather than the others that relate to Wikipedia copyright issues specifically. @Vchimpanzee: I tend to send people to Commons:Village pump/Copyright if someone has a problem with copyright on an image or media file, as I think that they might get a better answer there. Hey @Tadfafty! Thank you for trying to improve the article, it's really appreciated! I've made a few formatting/layout edits since, and have moved the page to fix its capitalisation. I do just want to say though, that the sources still (imo) aren't great for confirming the company's notability - Wikipedia's guideline on this is summed up below:

An organization is generally considered notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. Trivial or incidental coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not sufficient to establish notability. All content must be verifiable. If no independent, third-party, reliable sources can be found on a topic, then Wikipedia should not have an article on it.

This means that sources should be about the company itself - some of the ones you've added only mention the company in passing, which generally isn't enough to establish notability. For help with sources on Wikipedia, I suggest you have a look at this page on reliable sources, and this page for beginners on referencing. If you need help finding references, check out the collapsible box on the (top) right of this section - or visit the reference desk, where other editors can help you find references. And remember, references don't have to be on the internet, if you have a book/physical newspaper/journal/etc which talks about the company - you can use that! (I also have my own list of pages and tools that can help with referencing on Wikipedia here, it might not be that useful though). Anyway, thank you for all your efforts here, you're doing a great job, just - if you can - try to help improve the references on that page - have a peek at this page on writing your first article, which may be useful for you. Hope that helps. 2) Tried uploading several pics but got rejected and now some automated blocks upload. The message initially said something about can't verify photo. Now the block message says there is some kind of log somewhere but I can't find it. The photos were taken by me from the original handwritten diaries some years ago.

The majority of photos and videos on Wikipedia are actually hosted on Wikimedia Commons; to upload photos, go to Wikimedia Commons - here. However, you must either own the copyright to the photo - or it must be available under a free licence (such as Creative Commons) - see this page for more on which files can be uploaded (you can also have a look at the graphic on the right for more information). I - myself - can't help you anymore with uploading images, if you can't through the methods suggested here, I advise that you ask a question about uploads here. I'm actually quite pleased to see Wikipedia incorporating emojis into its regular everyday resources. did you know that you can now install extensions that allow you to type emojis, even using a regular laptop? For why I've tagged the page How You Perceive Everything, Inc. with a speedy delete tag, please see this page, which explains the rationale for deletion of the page - essentially, the article does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, as it doesn't make a credible claim of significance. A useful essay on advice for you in this situation is Wikipedia:What to do if your article gets tagged for speedy deletion.

For more help with writing articles, I strongly recommend the "Your First Article" page, which explains how to write a good article on Wikipedia. Also, I suggest using the Article Wizard to help writing articles in the future.

To better understand notability on Wikipedia, look at the general notability guidelines, which explain what each part of the notability guidelines means (explaining what "significant coverage" means etc), but essentially:

Wikipedia articles cover notable topics—those that have gained sufficiently significant attention by the world at large and over a period of time, and are not outside the scope of Wikipedia. We consider evidence from reliable and independent sources to gauge this attention. The notability guideline does not determine the content of articles, but only whether the topic should have its own article.

Unfortunately, if there isn't significant coverage of the company in independent, reliable sources, then there shouldn't be an article about them - if you want help finding sources to try and determine notability of an article subject, try asking at the reference desk.

If the article is deleted, you could read Wikipedia:Why was the page I created deleted?, and especially the "What you can do about it" section, which explains what to do if an article you created was deleted.

I really appreciate your efforts to try and get uninvolved editors to look over the draft, but I still feel like the best way for the draft to be properly "evaluated" would be if you submitted your draft for review - the process of doing so is explained here. Basically, just click the blue "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the draft page. I am unfortunately not the person who is able to review your draft for you. To improve the chances of the article being approved, make sure you have demonstrated the article's notability, essentially:

Complaints / Neutrality Issues

Thank you for your response re: "In the News"

I use Wikipedia a LOT! I have used it (and continue to use it) in many different languages, mainly concerning History-related information, pretty much every day for the last 10 years or so and I have noticed a marked change in the neutrality of politically popular and sensitive subjects - particularly regarding:

1. Climate Change / Environmental Issues
2. Colour Revolutions / Pro-Democracy Movement
3. 9-11 Truth
4. Elections in general
5. Corruption Allegations / Political Scandals
6. The various "eternal wars" of the 21st century, along with the actual conflicts that arise from them

I believe this is not coincidental and that these topics form the core of the propaganda agendas of certain political agencies.

I have lived oversees and had very good insider knowledge about political developments in the countries I lived in and around and have seen how perspectives can be very easily and powerfully manipulated to influence people's perceptions of places they are to all intents and purposes entirely ignorant of the actual realities and subtleties at play, particularly here in the West, where people are bombarded with news-bites and commercials.

Wikipedia suffers from its own successes - it is among the top few websites presented on any Google Searches, but is entirely and literally "amateur" in its set-up. This is fantastic when I am researching the medieval Hanseatic League or need to know the extant texts of Pliny the Elder, but it leaves it vulnerable to non-amateurs agencies on its more sensitive topics. It is also instantly updateable - more so than even a news website, that needs an editorial process to be followed at the very least.

I am concerned that Wikipedia is not finding open-source, free-for-all, online community-based solutions to these dangers, or more worrying still that this was part of its raison-d'etre all along.

I no longer feel it offers a neutral perspective, and the ability to monitor and challenge these problems is not very clear. I ended up posting where I did as I could not find anywhere else! And then it seemed to drop it somehow in someone else's post...

I am also not a big fan of "In the News", especially on the front page. I am not interested in "the news" and do not feel it can ever be unbiased as even the intrinsic nature of the events that are being presented are open to merely being deliberate propaganda themselves. I never used to expect to find a newspaper stuck to the front of the Encyclopedia Britannica when I read it as a child in the library, and I don't want it here!

Unfortunately, political machinations often take a long time to come to clearer conclusions and the truths of their ins and outs often are lost to history.

It has taken many years and millions of hours of unpaid good work bycountless people to create this incredible - and now much more credible - website, and so the axe I wish to grind is against those who seek to undo all this just so they can play their sham politics and control games. I am not interested in pointing fingers at whoever is being presented as this month's Bad Guy, just at what these faceless people keep chipping away at.

Hello,

When I returned from lunch to find my article in utero had been abducted, I didn't particularly worry. I just completed the draft and submitted it as you wished. I just find myself wondering if you are going to release it to mainspace. Or should I write another iteration of it?

I might add, that in my decade in WP, I have never had a similar occurrence, even though I have originated 1,400+ articles.

Hi @Georgejdorner! The reason I moved the article to the draftspace is because when it was first published, it contained just an infobox, and nothing else. My apologies if I forgot the {inuse} template on this draft; I do habitually use it.

I've been writing in WP since 2008, and I have never previously had an article in progress kidnapped. I suppose it's my own fault because I wasn't in workspace.

The draft is now tied up in the review process for new articles--a foreign venue for me. I'm faced with hours of learning new rules to thumb-wrestle with bureaucracy, to save an article completely cited to a reliable source used by all editors who write about World War I aviation. It's simply not worth the time and effort. Let the reviewers delete it if they wish. Or let them release it. @Georgejdorner: there's nothing wrong with you did, I just felt that with only the infobox present, it would be better to move it to draftspace where you could expand it without as much of a rush as there would be in the mainspace. However, you don't have to wait for an Articles for Creation reviewer to approve it: as you said, you've been here for a while, I'm sure the draft is of good quality, so you should be able to move it back to the mainspace yourself. Music Institute in fez

Hi, sorry to bother, but yours is the first entry in the revision history on Music Institute in fez so I thought I'd ask you. :) I came across this article on the dead end list, and was going to start fixing the many issues it has, but then noticed you'd requested speedy deletion. That seems (?) to refer to the draftified version, though, whereas there's now a published article in the main name space. Any idea what's happening here? Hi @DoubleGrazing: I used the tool, User:Evad37/MoveToDraft, to move Music Institute in fez to Draft:Music Institute in fez. The script then tagged Music Institute in fez for speedy deletion under WP:R2 (a redirect from mainspace to draftspace). The draft I moved is still present at the link with the "Draft:" prefix.
