Hi, I just wanted to say thank you for all your work and help with the Käina seamud deposit article! It's great that you've been able to help out, and if you ever want any help, you can , or just leave a message on my talk page. However, I did want to ask about some of the media you've uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, such as and the files whose names begin with "File:Orjaku...". You've uploaded them as having a Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0 licence, but the sources you've said these images come from don't seem to mention a Creative Commons licence? For example, this website, which you've said is the source of File:Käina seamud deposit.png, doesn't appear to have any notice saying the map is available under a Creative Commons licence. Same for this PDF as the source for this image. On Wikimedia Commons, and Wikipedia, only files that are licenced under a free licence are allowed. See this image which explains this idea well. Therefore, I just want to ask why they've been uploaded with a Creative Commons licence? If you own the copyright to these works, you should email Wikimedia Commons to let them know that you have released them under a free licence. But if these works aren't licenced under an acceptable licence, they unfortunately can't be on Wikimedia Commons/Wikipedia.

Hi @ Seagull123 and thank you for these indeed relevant remarks and questions. As a newcomer and yet inexperienced contributor I hope that these illustrative additions to this specific article could be still nicely used, as about the File:Käina seamud deposit.png I have contacted the Geoportal page owner Estonian Land Board and specifically asked them about the permission to use their map data and contents in Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Their answer was: We are not directly bound by the CreativeCommons license, but the use of extracts from the Land Board's map applications is permitted for any moral purpose, and when presenting the data to the public, please indicate the Land Board and the age of the data (eg "Base Map: Land Board 2020"). The corresponding sentence was also added to the English language website of the geoportal https://geoportaal.maaamet.ee/eng/Web-Maps-p35.html "
Regarding the second question about the specific .png files (NIckel etc) and the study by the Tallinn University Institute called The Centre of Excellence in Health Promotion and Rehabilitation, I have their permission to quote and display their published material provided I link it with the institution and source, which I did. This study was conducted with the major contribution of the EU public funds, so it has to be freely available and used publicly with no access protection (passwords, paid access, subscription etc). From this study, I just highlighted with the help of Wikimedia Commons some drawings/maps pertinent to this article to enhance their quality for the reader.
If the issue is nevertheless unclear or some possible copyright infringements pertaining to this article still didn't disappear, please help me to overcome these. my talk page Thank you! Esthonos (talk) 12:13, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi again @Esthonos: thanks for your reply! Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, unless the copyright owners of these images license them under a Creative Commons licence, or another applicable free licence, then they aren't allowed on Wikimedia Commons. The "Attribution" licencing template may be allowed for any files where the copyright owner allows for re-use with attribution. I do believe, though, that the copyright owners would have to confirm this as described here. However, I am not an expert on these matters, so I am going to ask at c:Commons:Village pump/Copyright. I do want to thank you again for your useful contributions in making and expanding this article!
PS: if you want to "tag" a user in a reply on a talk page, you can use the {{ping}} template, as I have done in this reply to you. For example, I put the wikicode {{ping|Esthonos}}(then you can replace your username with the username of the user you are replying to. Hopefully this helps.
