Students in my Technical Writing (ENGL 303) course

edit

I'm asking my students in ENGL 303 to create Wikipedia pages and to do two brief tasks from the list of open tasks. Sandybaldwin (talk) 18:39, 26 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's now fall 2009, and students in my Technical Writing course are creating articles relating to their disciplines. I think the articles will be excellent!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sandybaldwin (talkcontribs) 2009-09-03 16:12:41

Speedy deletion nomination of SandyBaldwin

A tag has been placed on SandyBaldwin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Wvu logo.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Huntster (t @ c) 10:27, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Class work

edit

I am informed by Khyejxxn that you are the instructor of an English class at RIT wherein you are asking your students to create Wikipedia articles about "non-creative artists". If this is true, I urge you to take a look at Wikipedia's guidelines for school and university projects, and consider registering your course through the processes listed there. I am concerned about your course, because I have run across three new articles from this class, and none of them meet the various criteria for inclusion. Writing Wikipedia articles for educational purposes is a great idea, but in the end, all content must meet Wikipedia's standards and guidelines. @WikiDan61: Thanks for your feedback. I didn't know about the class guidelines page! I do know about the inclusion policies - I guess I need to work harder on getting these articles to conform, though I suspect some of them may never fit the policies. They have two more weeks to do these - can I have them indicate in the Talk page or somewhere that this is work in progress? Or is it better to stay in their Sandbox until they've worked the articles over?? What do you advise?

@WikiDan61: I will go ahead and register the course ...Sandybaldwin (talk) 22:29, 6 October 2015 (UTC) Sandybaldwin (talk) 22:00, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I would recommend that you have your students create their work in their own user space. Users are allowed to develop their articles as slowly as they like as long as they're not in the main article space. If you'd like your students to collaborate on articles, they can also use the Draft: article space, which also allows for a slower development process which is less restricted by inclusion guidelines. The folks at WP:SUP may have more suggestions for you. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 23:59, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
